CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2019 Cherokee is racking up engine complaints for suddenly shutting down while driving. But the problem could possibly be related to the increasingly defective 9-speed transmission which suffers from hard shifts, lurching problems, and a wiring harness defect that can cause sudden shutdowns or an unexpected shift into neutral.

Frequent driver distraction - integrated navigation system weather alerts from sirusxm travel link application. Sirusxm application 'travel link' is enabled and there is no user or system ability to configure or disable from fca uconnect radio/units in all 2019 fca vehicles (with navigation) including our recently leased Jeep Cherokee. Frequent and sometimes numerous weather and travel alerts display on radio screen, covering the entire screen, and do not disappear. The alert blocks the screen, including navigation, and must be manually dismissed taking Focus off the road. The alerts are not just local alerts but rather cover a 100 mile radius which is also not configurable. This contributes to the numerous amount of alerts and frequency by simply driving a few miles. Fca support including the local dealer have confirmed there is no ability to configure the alerts or disable the alerts. They suggested contacting sirusxm which provides the sirusxm travel link service. Sirusxm is unwilling to help (remove or configure travel link) and is only willing to remove all trial sirusxm services including the radio. They suggested we contact the dealer. Other oem's that offer travellink service allow for users to configure the service or disable if needed. Fca customer service did mention this issue has resulted in many complaints but they do not have a software update available. I believe fca and sirusxm believe this is an inconvenience only. This is not just an inconvenience. Drivers must manually dismiss every alert. My son is a fairly new driver and this is very concerning.
When back window in down it makes a extremely loud pounding noise that is so bad it feels like my ear drums are going to explode. Like a loud plane above the car. The whole car vibrates.
I leaned my 2019 Jeep Cherokee back in September 2018. A week after leasing it I was slowing down to come to a stop sign and it beeped at me and all the power shut off in the Jeep. I tried to hit the start button nothing. I put it in park after fighting with it to go into park and tried the start button again. Nothing. So I waited 2 minutes and tried again it turned back on and was fine for the rest of the drive. January 24 2019 I was pulling out of the parking garage at work and after 4 minutes of it being on it shut off mid driving. Same thing happened it beeped and all power shut off. I put it in park and hit the start button. Nothing. Waiting 2 minutes tried again turned on made it all the way home. Also when I turn either way it beeps as of a door is open. No door is open check repeatedly. When I go over a speed bump it sounds like something is grinding in the back end I have to come to a complete stop and start again after the bump or the Jeep will not move. The radio will randomly make a very loud static noise that is ear piercing for a second the it will be fine or it will restart the radio it's different everytime it happens.
1/23/19 8:10 am front glass panel of panoramic sunroof exploded while driving on the freeway. There was no rock or object that hit my vehicle, just an explosion type noise. I pulled off the free and found no objects in the sunroof well. I went directly to the dealer who felt anrock caused this and could not and would not help me and said he'd never heard of that. They did not even log my visit to their service department. I contacted Chrysler who said they will do anything since the service tech at dealer looked at and saw no defect to the frame. Fortunately, I had my interior portion of the sunroof closed and maintained control of my vehicle. This was not caused by road debri or other prior incident and just exploded. I am reporting this as others may be refused by the dealer as I was and it not be investigated or ignored.

When a phone call comes in, the ring volume is extremely high. It is heart stopping, it makes you jump, you are distracted in traffic trying to quickly turn it down before you even think to answer it. I've read hundreds of comments from other Jeep owners on-line that have the same problem. I was told by jeepcare that the car is "operating as designed" and they can't adjust the default volume down from the volume level of 15. It will cause an accident because of the huge distraction it causes on that first ring when driving. Jeep doesn't seem to care at all.
1. on 3 occasions (most recently 12-2-18) during braking the emergency brake engages itself and the engine continuously engages the starter. Unable to put vehicle in park turn off the starter and after about 30-60 seconds able to put into park and restart the vehicle. On 12-2-18 I was slowing for a stop light and the vehicle wouldn't allow me to put the hazard lights on when I couldn't get the starter to disengage and put into park to restart the vehicle. It occurs without warning and the emergency brake must be pulled up. 2. the brakes often sound like they are rubbing (needing brake pads). 3. the radio will randomly change from fm to sirius and unable to turn off/on or return to the radio menu. 4. the radio volume most of time must be at 15 or higher to listen to the radio and will randomly jump to full volume while driving. 5. the android auto that I use for navigation and telephone will randomly scroll through the telephone contacts and begin calling. I have to unplug the phone to stop this.
Car fire after 40 days of new lease. Parked in driveway after a short commute. Vehicle is a total loss along with personal property. Dealer offered no remedy; no loaner. Pictures attached.
While driving 80mph on the highway, my 2019 Jeep Cherokee went into complete failure mode. The power in the vehicle failed, I was no longer able to accelerate. Luckily I was able to Dodge my way through traffic and get off the highway and into safety. After 48 hours at the dealership, still no official root cause of why the power failed.
I bought my 2019 Jeep Cherokee lattitude plus 4X4 and from day one the radio has acted up. I have taken it back to the dealer 4 times for them to resolve the problem they put in a new radio one time, a antenna, the next and said they did some rewireing. What happens is when I start my vehicle either the radio will play or it wont ( well plays but you cant hear anything unless you turn the volume way up all most maximum before you can start to hear it). After each time they said they had it fixed. It also when not working when you hit search stations it will go from 95.9 and keep going with out stopping back to 95.9 so no stations on search to stop on.they said they are not sure what to do next if it acts up.so after being frustrated I did a search on my Jeep and found this web page with other people some with the exact same vehicle as mine having the same problem. I did have video but not sure how to get it off of google photos to put on here.the radio only does it on start up and might work the next time and not the next or work a few times then not the next you never know when it will act up. Here is the website with others having the exact same problem as me. Https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-T77884_ds954131 so can someone help me out / let me know what to do next thanks...(xxxxx) parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Radio continues to go in and out after 4 times at the dealership. This problem does not occur every time the car is started, but it will be immediate when you turn the car on if the radio will work or not. My car has been updated with new programs, new radio system put in, and the issue is still not resolved. The dealership at oliver C. joseph in belleville, il stated they are not sure what the issue is. I will be taking my car back in for the fifth time due to the radio issue not being fixed. Also, if the radio starts out working properly when the car is initially started it will not happen suddenly. Either it works or doesn't work when the car is first started.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle erupted into flames. The contact pulled the vehicle over and discovered smoke and flames coming from the engine under the hood. The contact extinguished the flames. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was restarted and the power steering failed. The vehicle was towed by the insurance company to route 1 Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of lawrenceville (2700 brunswick pike, lawrence township, NJ 08648, (609) 454-6516), but they denied responsibility because there was mud on the undercarriage. The manufacturer was called and the case was to be assigned and investigated by a special division. The cause of the failure was not determined. The failure mileage was 6,000. The VIN was unknown.
Takara recall my 2019 Jeep Cherokee, less the 6K miles, caught on fire while driving down the road. I pulled over to find flames igniting by where my engine meets the transmission. I quickly put it out with water. Contacted the insurance company for a claim an tow. The called cryster to file a report with them as well. It's now a week later, I've missed work an have no rental from cryster ab any information other then it's being investigated when I was assured it would take 2-4 days after I made the claim. Consumer stated hood erupted in flames. VIN unavailable.
This vehicle has too many systems integrated into and controlled by a single computer. After only three weeks (less than 600 miles) the radio would not tune correctly and would sometimes turn off the heater when changing a station. This is not a safety issue but the computer controlled transmission started to make noticeable noises and vibrations during shifts, starting at the same time while driving on a moderate speed highway. I believe that the computer is no longer functioning as intended and may cause unanticipated performance anomalies which could provide challenges for which the driver is unprepared. It appears that far too much computer control has been attempted on this car and the technology is neither proven nor reliable.
My car shut down twice while driving on the expressway. There was plenty of gas and no reason for it to shut down. All of the dashboard lights flashed and then there was no ability to steer or control the car. I had break, switch the gears from drive to park and then restart the car. Luckily traffic was slowed or else my child and I would've been hit from behind. I took the car to the dealership and was told that the oil was low and it could be excessive oil consumption. That could have lead to the stalling. There were no warning lights involved.
This is in reference to my 2019 Jeep Cherokee latitude plus. The radio fades in and out most of the time. After initial startup it may or may not work properly. If it does not work (fades in and out) then it will not correct itself. The only way to possibly get the radio to work properly would be to restart the vehicle. Then it may or may not correct itself. This happens on the am/fm stations. It does not happen while using sirrus radio. This occurs about 75% of the time on startup. 25% of the time it works properly. When it is not working, there is only one or two stations that will be able to be tuned if using the auto tuning button. It will tune to the one station (however, it still fades in and out). The dealer has replaced the radio to no avail. They are trying the antenna however there are several owners who report that does not work either. Although this is not necessarily a safety concern it is still a major problem with my $33,000 vehicle. We need to know how to get this rectified. This has been happening since the day I picked up my vehicle.
Car will stall while in motion and come to a complete stop. It's very dangerous to have a new car stall in the middle of traffic. I have contacted the dealer and they have
