CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2019 Cherokee is racking up engine complaints for suddenly shutting down while driving. But the problem could possibly be related to the increasingly defective 9-speed transmission which suffers from hard shifts, lurching problems, and a wiring harness defect that can cause sudden shutdowns or an unexpected shift into neutral.

About a year ago I took the vehicle in for a recall notice. Software update needed to be run due to the vehicle shutting off during operation. I took the vehicle in for the recall service. Since the recall my vehicle has now started doing the same thing. It seems to happen when slowing to a stop or downshifting. Vehicle totally shuts off, no lights, including break lights, everything shuts off including radio, hazards won't go on, car just totally shuts off. Happened to me at a busy intersection tonight and I nearly got rear ended. Only warning light was the battery when attempting to restart the vehicle. This has happened 4 times in the last two days, this is my only vehicle and I must drive it.

SVC 4WD service light came on - Power Transfer Unit failing. 75000 miles on 2019 Cherokee Latitude Plus. Warranty was only 60000 miles. Should it fail while driving then jeep could not get out of other traffic's way. Dealer inspected it and confirmed PTU failing and needs replacement. my VIN is not on a recall list. I first noticed a few months ago a loss of power when either turning at a light or pulling out at a light. Dash warning light came on traveling at 40 mph near home.

I have the 2019 Jeep Cherokee High Altitude 2.0 turbo 9 speed transmission. We have had this same problem since we bought this vehicle. It doesn't happen all the time but I believe is getting worse. The notorious very very hard shifting & stalling problems. This seems to happen at any speed, at anytime, & doesn't matter how you drive it the problem still persist. You can be driving 35 mph on a straight stretch, no breaking, no change in acceleration, and it will suddenly shift very hard! The other problem that I believe is connected to this is stalling before it decides to shift. Sometimes 3 to 5 seconds before shifting very hard into gear after it finally decides which gear it wants to shift into. It has created some very scary moments that my family & I could have got into an accident multiple times because it took so long to shift. Please be my guest & inspect it! No check lights or anything like that. I did have the battery go bad a year after we bought it. That might have to do with the start/stop system even though it is equipped with a bigger battery and better starter.

The P2122 OBD-II trouble, or fault, code means that the vehicle's on-board computer has detected low voltage in the throttle position sensor (TPS), which is usually below 0.17 volts. The battery is also at 8.3 volts indicating a potential short somewhere and potentially a faulty alternator. This is not what you want while driving a vehicle.

Unknown of what the issue is but since I bought my 2019 Jeep Cherokee latitude recently I've took it in for service multiple times paid out of pocket because when I slow down it shudders bad and stalls at time this is dangerous I was on the highway and it stalled dead right in the lane and a semi truck almost crashed into me. I took it to the dealership they first said my oil was 1 quart low which I didn't believe then they did a pcm update on another visit and problem is still there this almost gave me a heart attack I could have got killed! Either reimburse me for the problems or investigate what this could be.

Check engine light came on. Had it diagnosed within 5 minutes. Code P0123 came up. That is the -€œThrottle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch -€œA-€ Circuit High Input-€. Specific part # 5184349AF. It is built into the throttle body, so whole throttle body must be replaced. Vehicle only has 40,000 miles. Parts Dept at dealer told me they had several of these parts in stock. He was surprised. They only do that when they know there is a problem. It is a safety issue. It can fail and cause engine to quit. Jeep refuses to acknowledge an existing problem. It needs government investigation for safety. I can send picture of diagnosis printout if needed.

While driving my 2019 Jeep Cherokee with 18,261 miles suddenly the vehicle completely stop in the middle of the road.Lucky this happened on a side street not on a highway or a busy intersection that could have resulted in a injury or even a death.I was trying to step on the gas pedal but the vehicle would not move.I have noticed on my center console display was black nothing was display no radio or climate controls. On my front dashboard display had a warning of SERVICE TRANSMISSION RESTART IN PARK.The engine light was display also the battery, emergency parking brake, and the traction control was display. This event happen five times in two days. I have taken this vehicle to a Jeep Dealership and they are saying that the transmission needs to be replaced.I am saying to myself that this is a Jeep Cherokee with 18,261 miles on it. This type of vehicle should have a nationwide recall and the NHTSA should have a hard look at this situation and the consumer complaints on this vehicle. This type of vehicle should not be driven on a public road or even a highway. For a consumer driver this type of vehicle is unacceptable the vehicle is a death trap.

Service light on dash "svc 4WD" took it to the dealership stated power transfer unit solenoid bad. Ordered part and when received pulled ptu off vehicle and removed solenoid. Saw that ptu had internal damage and ordered new ptu. Replaced ptu when received. This is same failure of the 2014-2018 Cherokee recall. My 2019 was not included.

While driving my Jeep suddenly shut off. This happened twice, so I took it to Liberty Jeep in libertyville. I was told that they would need to do a PCM reprogram and that it will now burn 1 quart of oil per every 1000 miles and that I would need to keep an eye on it to continue to top of the oil so the Jeep doesn't shut down. This is not acceptable for a dealership to say. I am fearful of driving long distance on highways with this now and would like to get out of this lease. I have attempted to discuss with the dealership and I haven't had any luck. Owner or managers do not return any emails or phone call. This is very disturbing.

Service light on dash "svc 4WD" took it to the dealership, and they told me in 30 minutes it was the transfer case gone bad. 2014-17 had a recall on the same issue, and they already knew what was wrong with it. Your 2019 was not included with this recall yet, but it is going to cost your $3,500 for us to fix it. A full diagnoses requires the transfer case to be remove and a test to see if the gears turn, and that is a 4.5 hour labor job. This was not done, because the dealership already knew the transfer case was faulty. I called Jeep and opened a case # 78851829, but they told me it was VIN# sensitive and the 2019 Cherokee have not been added to the recall for the 2014-17 yet. Save my receipts, so I can be reimburst on this model is added.

Car stalls while driving. Has occurred well over a dozen times. While driving, there is suddenly no power in the engine. After several visits to dealership, it was decided that this is due to low oil levels. I was told to check oil at every fill up, something I have not had to do since 1979. At every oil change (not at dealership), I am told that my vehicle burns oil. As stated in a recall previously:'an engine stall while driving can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning). The danger also lies in the replacement of oil while car is in the middle of a road. We need a new engine.

I drive a 2019 Jeep grand charokee latitude. I approached a stop light last month at a major intersetion and the engine shut off. The car behind me almost rearended me with my new born. Omg this car is not safe to drive if it just shuts off for no reason. Later this month the front suspension started making alot of noise. The car has 43000 miles. Observed the passanger side strut mount clip that keep the strut from seperating from wheel wheel loose. Strut failed and caused issues with drive train. Car is on blocks in my garage know awaiting struts and strut mounts. The Jeep used a very small plastic clip to secure the top part of the strut, so in my case when the strut failed, the clip came loose and almost seperated leaveing the top of strut un-attached to anything omg! this a hug safty issue. Why has NHTSA not investigated this poor design. A placstic clip to hold a strut that is supporting the front end of a vehicle!!.
