The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. While driving approximately 55 mph, the message center displayed "service engine immediately" and a humming noise emerged from the engine compartment. The vehicle was driven to morian Chrysler Jeep (374 siemers dr, cape girardeau, mo 63701) where it was determined that there was a failure with the four wheel drive system. The vehicle was taken to morian Chrysler Jeep (374 siemers dr, cape girardeau, mo 63701) three other times for electrical failures. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
Service shifter indicator comes on- solid red lights appear on the shifter in every gear. Comes on every couple of days. Cargurus has several people complaining about experiencing the same problem. Dealerships seem to not really know what the real problem is, replacing engines, transmissions, shifters- only to have the problem come back for these folks. Clearly, a recall is in order. I am concerned if I take mine in, I will have the same problem as the others, price gouged- with no real solution. Faulty engine with excessive oil consumption. Engine piston blown at 54K, on brand new 2016 Jeep Cherokee, and consequently repaired under manufacturer warranty. Fca and dealership difficult to work with and attempted everything to avoid the repair until I obtained legal counsel. The vehicle still randomly shuts off while being operated which makes it a danger to all. I have also experienced issues with the transmission, which the dealership said stemmed from the electrical system. The vehicle would get "stuck" in a particular and cause the vehicle to "jump" while attempting to idle down. Lastly, the service shifter light has come on. The light comes on while the vehicle is in motion and does not appear to effect the operation of the vehicle. Nevertheless, this is another problem added to the engine and transmission issues. This vehicle is trash and needs to be completely recalled. Shame on fca for selling this vehicle with a ton of defects. Shame on any authority that does not investigate the claims regarding this vehicle, or does it take a catastrophic event to gather your attention.
My rear glass windshield burst when heating up using remote start. I've read multiple complaints about this happening with Jeep as well as Ford trucks. It's very dangerous. There needs to be a recall! consumers should not have to pay for something that was engineered faulty.

While leaving my office and making a left hand turn the car completely stopped mid turn. There was no check engine light on, no battery light appeared and the dash, radio and head lights were still on. A message appeared in my dash telling me to shift into park and then shift into the desired gear. I then put the car in park and tried to restart it 3 times before it started again. Now the car does this on several occasions after being told by a professional that they can't pin point the issue.
I just purchased the Jeep a month ago & it has 43,000 miles. When the Jeep is in gear a "service shifter" message pops up on dash. Once it pops up you can't see your miles per hour until you pull over, shut the Jeep off & restart. I was pulled over & cited for my speed but I had nowhere to pull of the highway to. I feel like it is a huge safety issue. The message only pops up randomly every three or 4 days & everyone I call say they've never heard of this & it nothing comes up when hook up code reader.
When driving on a highway at 70 mph, "shifter service" light came on in the instrument panel and would not go off. I was a little scared as all the transmission lights came on (park, reverse, neutral drive) and I could not tell how fast I was going. Since the car did not seem to have driving issues I continued the 20 miles to home. When we turned the car off the warning did not come back on when I restarted the vehicle. After checking this issue online I see that there are many people have had this same problem. And it seems that Jeep is not sure what to do about it. Jeep dealer told me it was caused by U1465-00 and P1C86-1D codes, and are going to replace shift bezel and harness. More than a few people online said the same problem came back after the harness was replaced.
At approximately 40,000 miles my service shifter light came on all the lights on the shifter are highlighted in red. At approximately 40,000 miles my service shifter light came on all the lights on the shifter are highlighted in red I went to the dealership and ask them about it and they said that I would have to pay money and they never heard of that problem. Now at 56,000 miles this service shifter came on again and I don't know what to
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. On three separate occasions, while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled. Additionally, while driving, the service shifter and several other unspecified warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to nolf Chrysler Dodge (2373 brookville St, fairmount city, pa 16224, (814) 365-5251) to be diagnosed, but the contact was not provided conclusive information as to the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000. The VIN was not available.
While driving on a highway, my 2016 Jeep Cherokee suddenly shut off completely. This did not allow me to accelerate, and the car slowed down which I had to pull over on the highway. There was the engine light and the battery light shown on the display. After couple times of attempting to restart the vehicle, I was able to drive it fine to work. This was really dangerous especially with I had no engine problems previously to warn that such thing was going to happen.
Please note the photos are not from my Jeep, they are from another person having the same issue. Dash displays 'service shifter' and all lights one shifter illuminate. I was driving when this happened (twice on different occasions). I pulled over shifter to park, shut the Jeep off and turned it back on and it went away for a few miles and came back on. This happened either the end of March or beginning of April 2019 during slushy wet road conditions. I have not seen it since those two days. Date entered below is an estimate. I wasn't aware this site existed until a friend tagged me in a facebook post depicting an accident caused from the same issue in a 2017 Jeep Cherokee latitude.
Three days after buying this Jeep Cherokee limited I was sitting in my driveway with the car in park running when I started to smell something burning, the cabin filled with smoke to the point that I called 911 and dispatched my local fire department, they could not determine the location of the smoke, I was able to drive it to the dealership with all windows down in 18 degree weather, the dealer found "burn marks" on the cabin air filter and all they did was to remove the cabin air filter and that was it? car make me feel unsafe as no repair or diagnostic of burning or smoke has been done. Car lost power with the A/C running last week while at the car wash, I had to turn off the A/C to get it up to speed. Also while sitting idling at mcdonalds pickup window a strong smell of gasoline was detected by the lady serving my meal, my girlfriend and others in line waiting, took it to the dealer and of course they found "nothing". going to get rid of this thing before it catches fire.
All prnd indicator lights on the shifter unit illuminate at once, and stay lit. "service shifter" warning appears on the instrument cluster display. When "service shifter" warning is displayed, cannot be turned off and digital speedometer readings (or other information) are no longer displayed. Prnd shifter indicator lights blink sporadically until warning finally displays. Lights stay illuminated after warning appears. Prnd lights and display warning appear while vehicle is parked/stationary as well as when vehicle is in motion. Started sporadically, roughly 6 months ago (early 2019) and would typically go away if vehicle was turned off and re-started. These warnings now happen daily, every time I start the vehicle, and almost never go away. Upon researching this concern online, it appears that this is a known issue that many have been experiencing since around 2012. Most web inquires indicate that this may be related to a wiring harness? I took to the dealership for service and was told it would be $700 to replace the entire shifter, and that if I do not replace, I could find myself unable to put the vehicle in park. Hoping that this is something that is being investigated and recalled so that I do not have to pay for something that is a recurring, known safety issue.
Car has completely stalled and locked up to a point where the steering wheel cannot be moved, hazard lights will not turn on, cannot change the gear at all. Had to have a flat bed tow because the wheels were locked, tow driver had to use dish soap to get the wheels to slide up the ramp. Jeep dealership first replaced the battery, then replaced the BCM and it is still a solid brick. They have no idea what is wrong. This has cost me $600 so far without even a repair. My 17 year old daughter is driving this dangerous car. I have seen the forums and this is a common problem with this Jeep, it needs a recall. As soon as we can get it running again, we will be trading it in. I can't have her in a death trap, it stalls without warning and we had to put the hood up to warn other drivers because the hazards wouldn't even turn on. This car only has 23000 miles on it, it should really not be doing this.
Service shifter warning light came on out of nowhere. 2016 Jeep Cherokee 40K miles on it, leased vehicle. Started the vehicle it was in park, stationary. No prior warning
