For the past three weeks the car has been showing transmission problems but until recently the transmission remained in neutral and filed to shift to another gear. It makes a loud clang sound when shifting gears and automatically shuts down after. The parking brake wouldn't disengage, a message saying "service parking brake" appears on screen. When accelerating the car does not respond normally. There was another message showing "tranmission service" when the car was on park and the car unexpectedly shift to neutral and made a loud roar round jerking forward.

After the recall 20V-343 in Aug of 2020 the vehicle exhibited the following in November while drive over 55mph. The mil light came on, could feel the power train switched to rear wheel drive and once pulled over the computer locked the transmission into park. The engine continued to run, the brake lite lit and the display reported error of "service transmission". we could no longer shift the transmission. Later the dealer reported metal shavings in the transfer case called ptu along with a substance like clutch material. On replacement we were charged $3,200+ with a delay of several months and two ptus were order as the replacement didn't make it out of the shop. On request to fca they denied the reimbursement as listed in the recall as a "field service" we submit the paper work identifying the VIN tied to the recall, the service work describing the damages and an image of the dash configuration at the time reflecting the intended purpose of the software patch as outlined in the recall.

While in motion both on highway (~70mph) or neighborhood driving (~25mph), dash board lights flash, speedometers wind and the error message '4WD system temporarily unavailable' comes on screen with traction warning light and red indicator dot light. Resin volume also diminished. This will not reset until car is turned off for ~5 minutes. This has happened both with short drives of 15 minutes and during longer drives of 1hour.

The described vehicle was subject to recall W47 wherein the ptu splines could degrade causing the vehicle to have no motive power and could roll away. The recall updated the software to essentially instruct the vehicle to engage the parking brake and allow motive power with rear wheel drive. The recall did not call for the replacement of the faulty part, just a means of keeping the vehicle safe once the part failed. The recall was issued in July 2020 and we took ours to fremont motors Jeep (Wyoming) and had the software updated (recall addressed). On February 20, 2021, my wife was driving the vehicle from Wyoming to Iowa on interstate 90. As she crossed from South Dakota into Minnesota, the ptu failed which also led to the failure of the driveline control module. She was using the inside lane and passing other traffic when the vehicle suddenly lost power, the engine revved, and the vehicle tried stopping itself. She was able to negotiate other traffic, avoid a collision, and pull off the right side of the roadway. The outside temperature was -8F. I was already in Iowa and drove an hour to retrieve her and her baggage from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to sioux falls, sd, and was later diagnosed and repaired by billion Jeep. It would seem that the recall should have include replacement of the known faulty part and not just an update to the software to address the vehicle "after" the part failed. It created a dangerous situation for my wife and the other people sharing the roadway that night. Recall W47 obviously did not address the issue far enough. It certainly favored the manufacturer over the safety of the vehicle owners.

On July 29,2020 (the day I bought it), my vehicle's transmission completely shutdown while I drove it on the interstate 8 highway, forcing me to veer onto the shoulder. My vehicle's transmission also completely shutdown countless times when slowing down to a complete stop, which hinders traffic by forcing me to put the car into park before it can be turned back on and put back into drive. Most of those times it will not turn back on again on the first attempt either. On November 19, 2020, for example, my vehicle's transmission completely shutdown five times in bumper to bumper traffic while I drove it on the interstate 5 highway. Since the middle of November 20, 2020, almost every time I go to start my car it won't start unless I first pop the hood and wiggle the negative battery terminal connection first. Even after buying a new battery. Around January 20, 2021, the parking brake would not fully disengage and my car proceeded to shut off one block away from my house on a city street. For five minutes I was unable to restart the car and couldn't put it back in park after driving home. The next day, after I turned on my car and put it into reverse, it lurched forward, made a banging sound, and shut off. I was unable to put the car in park or drive and left it in neutral. The parking brake would still not fully disengage and the message "service parking brake" appeared on the dashboard. I still could not move the car into park or drive so I turned the car off and left it in neutral. Last week, I forced my car into drive and took it to the kearny mesa Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership, where it remains. The dealership insists technical service bulletin 21-025-19's extended warranty instruction doesn't apply to my car's transmission and I insist that it does. I also saw some of the car's real and very extensive repair history for the first time.

I drove 365 highway miles, the last 20 of which were on winding uphill mountain roads, stopping at my mountain cabin, with no issues. Parked, with engine off, to shovel snow allowing access to steep snow-covered driveway. Upon completion and restarting my vehicle, I attempted to enter 4WD low to proceed down the driveway. Would not enter low, displaying "4WD not available'. repeated attempts were unsuccessful, with additional errors displaying: "service engine', "service shifter', "service P brake". decided to attempt driving in 4WD (only); vehicle would not shift out of neutral. Shifter was physically locked in position. Kept fussing, while all error messages being displayed alternately. It eventually couple be shifted (with normal effort); unfortunately it was now reverse not drive (which I needed). Upon attempting to shift to drive, it stuck in neutral on its way to drive. Again locked in place. Eventually unlocked and could be shifted; but was now wary of descending the driveway and decided to drive it a bit to test. It seemed as though it might be unlocking after a timeout period, so start a stopwatch on my phone. Eventually determine that the transmission was timing out after 4:30, and could be shifted, with all shifts being very hard and loud. Finally got it in drive and drove the ~3 mile loop of plowed, but still snowy and sloppy roadway; on this test drive, with all messages still on and alternating, it became clear I had only rear wheel drive and was in a single gear speed, allowing only slow starting and poor stopping, with speeds of 20 mph per 1,000 RPM. After a few wifi calls from my driveway to neighbors and my Jeep dealer's service manager; decided to return to town for repairs. Each passage thru neutral locking the transmission for 4:30, and all shift into either gear, extremely "hard"

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20V343000 (power train). The contact notified the local dealer new carlisle Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram - tobey auto group (580 N main St, new carlisle, oh 45344) who inspected the vehicle and determined that the input spline had damaged teeth from shaft movement which created damage to the transmission. It was recommended that the entire transmission output shaft be replaced however, the remedy the local dealer provided from the manufacturer was for a software update that would maintain vehicle propulsion within the transmission. The contact was concerned that there was too much damage to the shaft and that the recall remedy was insufficient to prevent further damages or an eventual failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 125,000.

Transmission engages violently when coasting, especially when coming out of a coast downhill. When attempting to accelerate after coasting the transmission engages violently. This generally occurs when the vehicle attempts to jump from 2nd to 3rd gear or 3rd for 4th. This is a very violent engagement, to the point where it can be felt through the driver's seat and steering wheel. It often time feels like the driver has impacted an object, which may cause the driver to overreact to conditions. This is a common occurrence. This issue has been reported to dealerships several times.

My vehicle has been studdering while in drive at various speeds. It's heavily stalls before taking off after a stop. I want sure if I moved to manual transmission until it continued to do it for a 45 min drive from 0-65 in speed. It's had the hesitation since I got it and thought it was because of the smaller V6 when I was coming from an infiniti M37. I checked fluids and no alert or light on indicating.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that water was leaking into the vehicle near the accelerator and brake pedal. The contact took the vehicle to key Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram - tobey auto group (2020 N detroit St, xenia, oh 45385; (937) 347-5155) who sealed the location where the leak was coming from. The contact stated about 5 months later, at approximately 36,000 miles, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact returned the vehicle to the dealers who diagnosed that the thermostat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired by a certified mechanic, not the dealer. The contact then stated that about 7 months later at approximately 38,000 miles, the vehicle stalled at a stop light with the check engine warning light illuminated. The instrument panel also displayed the message to service the transmission. The contact contacted the dealer and was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V529000 (power train). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000.

Around May 2020 I was contacted by Jeep for a recall I had no idea about; got her in quick for the ptu input spline. There were no issues before this. The update was atempted but not completed. From there, I expereinced several issues. Problems started with alerts displaying for no reason while in motion and stationary. Took her to another dealer where they updated the software/looked at the power train. When "finished" I pulled out to my Jeep makng a popping noise and rough drive. When I parked, there was fluid spilling out of the differential and splattered over the rear of the Jeep. The dealer stripped a plug; wasnt seated correctly and popped off from pressure. Since then, I have had several other issues concerning the drivetrain to inclde hard jumping into gear (especially into 1st from a stop), rough down shift, and transfer case damage. Most recent issue is hard shift into drive and radiator leak. I did take her in before my powertrain warrany ran out but there was apparently no issue - they only drove it a few miles. I attribute all issues to incomplete maintenece and unknowledgable staff. The main issue being computers; when not serviced properly, a chain reaction occurs througout components. An issue can arrise where you least expect it. I contacted national level Jeep for help; no avail.
