This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Lost of power we have been lucky we where not on a major hyway when this happens want to know if this vehicle can or been hacked. There are a lot of Jeep Cherokee on the road a lot of owners are complaining about this problem this is a very serious problem seems like nothing being done about this
Automatic transmission: Vehicle "hesitates" when putting into drive or reverse or moving forward from a "stopped" position. This happens intermittently - I don't know when I press the gas if I will move forward. This is extremely dangerous when trying to merge onto a highway - though it could potentially cause an accident if the vehicle behind me thinks I will move forward when a light turns green. I have been told that I should contact the dealership periodically for software updates -- there is no way to fix the problem, but software supposedly "lessens" the problem. I had one software update: Problem recurred the next day and continues to be a problem. I am afraid to allow my teenager drive the vehicle because of the unpredictability of the problem -- it's frightening enough for me, let alone an inexperienced driver. This is a safety issue -- no "fix" is an unacceptable response!
Vehicle at times in motion and slowing down and lightly touching brake will down shift and accelerate at the same time, when approaching stop sign(light) if not fully ingaging brake quickly vehicle can travel thru intended stop. Down shifing and accelerating may also occur on slight down grade, also, with cruise control ingaged. Factory technician has driven and evaluated vehicle and states it is operating as designed. Problem continues..... most stay reading to fully engage brake if needed.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle would not accelerate more than 15 mph. When the vehicle was placed in drive, it would activate the dtc. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Service transmission at 24,100 miles. Drove to work and then vehicle wouldn't start afterwards. Then, I put the brake on and it started with the message: Service transmission and when I put it in drive and the vehicle jerked. Towed the vehicle to the dealership and the dealership is backlogged with transmission issues my car is still in line to be checked out.
Purchased vehicle Nov 2014, shortly after I noticed it would shift irregularly and the vehicle tended to cruise on its own when off the gas. What made me take to the dealer was I noticed that when coming to a stop, the rpms of the engine will increase and cause the car to start going faster while applying the brakes. So I took to the dealer. Dealer did not investigate the issue. They preformed software updates. None fixed the issue. Time passed, the Jeep started to develop more noises in the transmission, it started to put gears harshly so I took it to the dealer again after it continued to do the same issues. Dealer claimed there was an issue with the transmission and it was replaced along with updates. New transmission and same issues. Jeep tries to cruise when off the gas, tries to accelerate when slowing or braking, rpms go up when slowing, noises coming from the transmission, irregular shifting, does not feel like a new car. Took to the dealer about 3-4 more times since transmission swap for software updates and nothing got better. The Jeep is actually getting worse. Now it has starting slamming in gears when coming to a stop, has some sort of wobble when accelerating, noises from the front (sounds like clutches slipping or something) and dealer has no fix. I had a ride along with dealer rep and they claim its normal for the vehicle, that its software and I must wait for updates. It is now Oct 20, 2016 and I have lost countless time and money trying to get this Jeep correct. I have tried to get the dealer to give me my money back and they do not. I opened a case with fca when transmission was swapped and they have not helped to get out of the car. Why should I be stuck with a faulty and dangerous vehicle? fca and dealer should be held responsible for the sale of a faulty vehicle and refund me in full. The vehicle should be considered a lemon from day one
Lost of power transmission slammed into reverse and drive lost of power getting onto freeway and lost of power while twice while driving.do not feel safe in this car.
The transmissions shifts very rough, hesitates to downshift and surges when on a slight hill. This is a dangerous situation when driving into our garage or accelerating from a stop sign.

Transmission problems and electrical problems had the car at dealership at least 3 to 4 time for over a week at the time called Jeep headquarters at least 20 times and they are very bad with costumer service. I am worried about the safety for my family driving the car, since transmission issues should not be handled like that. No support from Jeep capital.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. While driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle stalled and lost power. The battery warning indicator illuminated. The contact had to coast the vehicle to the side of the road and restart the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The shifter is faulty. If I'm at a stop sign I never know if my Jeep is going to stall or if it's going to thrust me into traffic. I was inches away from being hit by a semi because of this. I took it to the dealership I bought it at and they said they didn't see any problem at all and sent me on my way. Now randomly my Jeep will stall from park to drive for a solid 5 to 10 seconds and after in first gear I have to almost floor it to get it to accelerate. I literally went up to 5000 rpms before my Jeep would even start to accelerate, let alone switch from 1st gear to second.
My 2015 Jeep Cherokee trailhawk has has transmission problems since the day I bought it. It has suffered from very hard shifts which slam and jerk into gear. Mostly from 1st to 4th gears. The slamming is so hard it actually jerks the vehicle and is quite alarming. The next major problem with the transmission is that it randomly feels like as if "the clutch is slipping". I'll try to accelerate and it often takes a second or two before the transmission "catches" and the car will accelerate. It reminds me of a clutch slipping on an old stick shift. It'll slip and when it does finally catch it'll spin the tires, similar to "popping the clutch" in a stick shift. This is very dangerous specially when trying to pull out in busy traffic. You never know if it's gonna accelerate properly or if it's gonna slip and take a couple seconds to catch. I have had my Jeep in the dealership multiple times for these issues and so far all they've done is software updates, which hasn't solved either problem. I have detailed these problems very specifically and I've been told each time that these software updates would fix the problems. However, these problems are still occurring. I drive with my wife and two year old daughter in my car and I fear that someday my Jeep will fail to accelerate properly and will cause an accident.
I have to complain of the emergency brake coming on by itself, its when I'm backing up and in motion, this has happened at least 7 times in the 15 months I have owned this car, second complaint is when I accelerate, the car just sits there for several seconds, I'm trying to make a left or right turn, on a highway, I feel this is dangerous in both cases.

The transmission is not working when the vehicle is shifted into drive, reverse, no power sent to the wheels only revs up. The vehicle also makes a grinding noise when the vehicle is placed into park and check engine light is on. An indicator states on the dash states get transmission serviced. Stalled out on my way home from work had to push it about a block. Calling the dealer today.
