I parked the Jeep and turned it off and when inside for 10 minutes and started the car to leave and a bunch of lights came on like service engine and drive train. I put it in reverse and a huge clunk from the transmission happened I backed up and put it in forward and a huge clunk happened again. It shocked the whole car. I went forward and it barley would go. It took along time to get up to speed. It kind of shook and was really scarey. I brought it to the Jeep dealer and barely made it. The guy said the techs where all gone for the day. I couldn't leave it there so I started it back up and it worked fine. The check engine light was still on though. The next day I started it up and the light was off. It worked fine for 3 days until it all happened again the same stuff. So I turned it off and started it 10 minutes later and it was fine. It is a leased Jeep and I am going to bring it in this Friday. I want this fixed. I have read lots of the same problems with 100S of other people and it sounds like they are just giving people the run around. This is very unsafe and I want a new Jeep or a new transmission. I do not have any time to be going back to the dealership all the time or do I want to die in a car accident. The next thing that happens a that people are saying is that it will shift out of gear on the freeway and lots of people have almost crashed because of this. Thank you please let me know what you will do about this.

While rolling at low speeds, it can take several seconds for the Jeep to downshift when power is applied. This is a well documented issue with the 9-speed transmissions in the fca vehicles, and we have had the Jeep to the dealership four different times complaining about how unsafe this is. When the power is needed, one of these days, it may delay too long, and we could get in a wreck. A person should not be afraid to drive their vehicle because they don't feel that it is reliable enough to actually accelerate when the pedal is pressed. Fca has recently announced that it will be replacing the dog clutch in the transmissions with a standard clutch to fix this issue going forward, but they still need to be responsible for making the cars they have already sold work reliably. This happened regularly, so there is no single event date that I can easily state.

While driving on the freeway at 65mph, the car gave me a "transmission service" alarm and then the car lost power and eventually stopped. No response to acceleration and eventually to steering control. I turned off the engine and waited approximately 3 minutes, turned the key and then the car started and was able to drive it with no issues. It was a dangerous situation that could have ended with catastrophic consequences. The car was bought from overseas military sales in sicily, italy and the incident occurred in sicily.

My 2015 Jeep Cherokee trailhawk has been back and forth to the dealer for problems I've had with acceleration and braking. I've been trying to get on the highway and step on the gas with no acceleration. There are times I'm trying to stop and it bucks almost like it doesn't want to stop. It's been back and forth with computer updates, electrical components being updated etc. This issue is still occurring. This issue happens when going up hills, down hills, on straight aways etc. It can happen when starting from a complete stop or just when accelerating while the vehicle is already in motion. I do have receipts as to what they have replaced if needed. This issue is still occurring.

Takata recall- I had a recall done on my vehicle. It no longer accelerates properly. When at a stop, when the accelerator is pushed the vehicle takes seconds to move and then jerks forward.

For the fourth time, my 2015 Jeep Cherokee locked up the park brake, and the electical components all begin to operate sporatically without being turned on. The instrument gauges all start flashing, the wipers start swiping, the display screen begins flashing on and off, the prndl starts flashing and becomes unresponsive, and the instrument panel begins displaying multiple error messages, as if they car has become possessed. The scariest part is when the park brakes locks up, no matter what speed you are travelling at. The car was in motion twice when the car malfunctioned and locked up, and just yesterday was sitting in a mcdonald's drive through when the same thing happened. My wife is now terrified to drive this car anymore after four times of the same issue. Our fear is this is going to happen on a crowded freeway, and a semi behind us will not be able to avoid hitting us because our park brake has locked up. There are other complaints of this same issue with other Jeep owners on the internet. I cannot afford to just trade this in for another vehicle...I need some help getting this resolved so my family isn't in jeopardy just keep driving this vehicle the dealer cannot seem to permanently fix.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. While driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked forward while shifting gears. The contact stated that the rpms increased rapidly while attempting to switch gears. Jim burke Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram of burmingham, Alabama was made aware of the failure and could not duplicate the failure. The dealer performed a software update. The manufacturer was not made aware of the transmission failure. On another occasion, while driving approximately 65 mph, the "power steering off" warning indicator illuminated without warning. On another occasion, while driving 45 mph, the power steering failed and the steering wheel became very difficult to steer. The contact pulled over to the left side of the road and restarted the vehicle to correct the failure. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer where the source of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was made aware of the power steering issue and stated that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

When I was looking at vehicles, the primary items I wanted in the new vehicle was a six cylinder engine so that we would have the pick-up needed for extensive highway driving. The issues existed since it was new but I have actually become concerned for my safety in this vehicle; we only drive it when we absolutely have to (ie. Both of us in the household have to go to work). The engine is the 6 cylinder with the 9 speed transmission. This engine has intermittent issues where the vehicle hesitates, lurches, and jumps. Sometimes when accelerating from a full stop, it hesitates several seconds, and then when it does respond the tires squeal and the vehicle lurches forward from the transmission not engaging as it should. Sometimes it is a milder response where it is just a hesitation due to delayed shifting. More recently, now the engine is not downshifting and the engine revs and doesn't want to downshift. I no longer feel safe driving this because it is so erratic and I constantly wonder what it is going to do next. Every time we take it to the Jeep dealer, they update the computer and send us on our way. The software updates do not help. We have asked them to drive it and they have told me they don't experience anything wrong. It wasn't until we went to write this letter that we realized that the service orders don't record the fact that we have asked the Jeep dealer to look at this issue every time it has been in the shop with them. Which indicates to us that Jeep is trying to hide from this issue. The amazing thing is that if you go online and start researching issues with the Jeep engine that has the 9 speed transmission, thousands of people are having the same problems as we are having. The sad thing is Jeep continues to make the engine with the 9 speed transmission and the issues don't seem to be fixed. To me that is blatant disregard for the consumer.

At 17,000 miles, I started having issues with my Cherokee. The first time the engine of the vehicle stalled on me, I was on my way to work. I powered off the engine and it successfully restarted after one attempt. I brought it to my dealership later that day to find out I was "out of oil", this was roughly 2500 miles into my most recent oil change (which is projected for 5000 miles). I was disappointed, due to the vehicle being a year old. The dealership added some oil and I was on my way. Shortly after, I started noticing the engine would rev to high RPM's when the vehicle was stationary, the RPM's would increase drastically when breaking, the vehicle would jump between gears 1-3, making increasing your speed extremely difficult as you never knew when the vehicle would actually take off. My dealership was "unable to duplicate " this issue, and I was sent on my way. Fast forward 9 months, and my vehicle dies on me as I am leaving work. However, this time, it took multiple attempts to restart the vehicle. I was finally able to start it by putting my foot on the gas, and any time I took my foot off of the gas, the engine would stall. I drove with two feet to the dealership that day, and found out once again I was "out of oil". the dealership recommended an "oil consumption test", which means bringing your vehicle to the dealership at various mile markers (500,1000, 2000, 2000). At this time, they would check the oil levels and refill any lost oil. Through this, I found out my vehicle was "burning through" 1 quart of oil every $666.67 miles. Chrysler guidelines say a vehicle of my specifications should use 1 quart in 2000 miles. This vehicle is a beautiful death trap on wheels, and such a disappointment to Jeep lovers everywhere. Stay away.

All of my problems started August 30, 2016 in national city California. I went out and started my car for a trip back to yuma, as I put it in to drive I got three loud noises like the car had been hit with a sledgehammer, I also had a loss of power. I had it towed into "???" Chrysler with transmission problems. Three days later they told me I had a bad one-year old battery. By the time I got out of there it cost me over $500. The battery did not solve the problem. I did not have the noise anymore but I had shifting problems. (36294 miles) my first time in the shop at "????" was October 11, 2016. Followed by five more times. As of now it has been in the shop 19 days for transmission problems. Not making any progress. Last time in I took the drive with the transmission tech. I felt a little insulted. I brought him up to date of what has been happening in the past. I told him the problem we are having now is loss of power and hard shifting taking off from stop lights and stop signs. I told him I did not have any problems at highway speeds. The test drive consisted of a high-speed run down 32nd St. I pointed out to him a couple of hard shift his reply was this is normal for a nine-speed transmission. I have talked to a lot of people that have nine speeds and I totally got to disagree that that is normal.

Whie driving I noticed shifting was pronounced. Took Jeep for servicing. Transmission light came on at service station, they ordered me a rental car and had my car for 5 days. Said they put transmission module on, one week later I was in a parking lot I put my car in reverse and heard loud clunk, service transmission light came on and stayed on. I took it back to service providers and it is still there.I have a rental car again

While driving from a cold start, the car would suddenly stall and a message would pop-up indicating "shift to P and select desired gear" along with the battery light indicator. The car would then need to be shifted into park and attempt to restart, which would take at least 2 restarts before the car would start. This occurred while driving, first on a Suburban street and then on the highway.

This vehicle shifts extremely roughly into first gear, both from a standstill and when shifting into first from reverse. It has been to the dealership on 5 different occasions and in spite of software updates, the problem persists. Since some vehicles with this same transmission have been reported to suddenly shift into neutral while driving down the freeway, I am very concerned. Jeep is aware of the problems with this 9 speed transmission yet seems incapable of coming up with a solution to fix it.

Driving my vehicle over the weekend while in motion on a city street my vehicle turned off and then turned back on, the vehicle turned completely off no power could not do anything the vehicle turned on and was able to continue driving. Where my family and I were extremely nervous the remainder of the time while driving home. Thank god I was not driving on a busy highway where this problem could have caused an accident where my family and myself could have gotten seriously hurt or worse could have killed someone in my vehicle or any other vehicle due to an accident. When the vehicle turned on again the check engine light came on and the start and stop system light came on advising to have the system checked, the rest of the time the vehicle was being driven home it constantly sounded like it was going to loose power and turn off.
