CarComplaints.com Notes: There's no way around it, the Cherokee's transmission is junk. There's no other explanation for why a vehicle, usually with under 40,000 miles, would have so many complaints

My vehicle has never been in an accident. I have pictures showing a wide gap on the side of the back window on the hatchback. Lots of water gets into the back of the jeep. The water burned out some wiring that has caused issues with my jeep. It-??s a 1200 dollar job, dealer states the water is getting in due to the design of the vehicle.

I was unloading my trunk from my sons birthday party and when I pressed the button in the rear hatch to automatically close the trunk. The trunk would not close. Usually I can tap it and it will reinitiate the closing mechanism or stop to prevent something from being closed inside. There is some sort of malfunction in the closing mechanism of my jeep.

The body seam is leaking causing floor board in front and rear to have puddles of water in the floor, and mold. I'm on oxygen. This is not safe at all. Also the rear Mopar had to be replaced cause of park brake failure. This needs to be recalled asap. It's happening on a lot of your jeep cheerokees. Thank you

This 7 year old car has an electronic parking break which automatically turns itself on and cannot be disengaged without towing the car to the dealer. This is because this 7 year old car has a common internal leak that soaks the left wall in the trunk and the spare tire component. The left wall of the trunk is where the ECU (computer) that controls the parking break lives and it is water damaged. I'm not sure if this is the best place to report this. If there is a better place please let me know" Is it legal to sell a car that becomes non functional and moldy from hidden water damage after only 7 years, then charge to fix it? This problem is common and I think it needs to be a recall. We live on an island and this will cost over $1500 to fix? There is no way to manually disengage the parking break. Is it safe to have a water damaged computer automatically engaging your parking break? Do these electronic parking breaks count as having an emergency break for the purposes of stopping a car on an icy hill when the breaks fail or to take a road test for the safety of the instructor? Is it legal in Massachusetts that to replace this ECU requires a diagnostic scan tool to align the PROXI configuration data which most small local mechanics do not have"

I pulled into a parking space in front of ace hardware on main street in East islip New York. I put the car in park. As I took my foot off the brake the car continued moving forward and hit a stack of wheelbarrels in front of the hardware store. It damaged my license plate on the front end of the car the license plate bracket and put a significant crack in the paint on the front bumper. I have also noticed that at other times when I put the car in park and take my foot off the brake the vehicle moves forward or backward as much as 2 inches after being put in park. This occurred on June 23rd 2020

Water has leaked in to my vehicle and caused issues with the electronic parking brake to short out and need to be serviced. The epb now automatically engages itself when putting the vehicle in park, causing us to be stranded. Upon investigation, it appears as though numerous individuals with my vehicle that have a sunroof experience the same issue, possibly due to drainage tubes installed by Jeep that they did not make owners aware of.

I was in an accident severe enough to total the vehicle but none of the many air bags deployed. I rear ended a vehicle on the freeway. I was just concerned since I am unaware what speed I was going at the point of impact. The front of my vehicle was pushed back toward the windsheild pretty far. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures. I just wanted to express my concerns. We did test the car and there aparently no failure of the air bag system, so maybe no problem.

I was getting gas with my baby in the car with me when I tried to shift into park the car was stuck. The emergency brake engages itself. When I looked around and in the back I noticed water in the spare tire wheel well. I understand the electrical component to the emergency brake is underneath this. I followed the water trail (it rained the night before) and saw a huge crack in my frame when the lift gate was up. Which, to me is where the water is coming from. I got it to my dealership, somehow and it's there currently. I called my insurance company, they will not cover because I did not have an action that caused this problem (such as an accident). They advised me this is a manufacturing problem.

In August while flat towing our Jeep behind our motorhome we experienced some violent shaking after making a left turn. We did not think too much about it at that time, thinking maybe we had hit an uneven spot in the road. A few days later the shaking occurred again--this time taking a right turn. Again, we thought it was an isolated incident. We continued on our trip and several days later it happened again on a straight, but bumpy road. All three times we had to bring our motorhome to a complete stop. I began to research to see if other rv'ers had ever experienced this problem and I came across numerous forums citing the same problem, but at that time there was no specific cause. However, most of the events occurred while towing Jeep Cherokee. And, it seemed that while being very aggravating, these events happened during very slow driving and were probably not dangerous to us or other drivers. For the rest of our trip, we maneuvered corners and bumpy roads carefully and slowly. We felt we could manage this problem safely thinking it only happened at slow speeds. How wrong we were! we just returned from an 8 day road trip that turned into a nightmare. We had a couple of incidents of wobbling while driving slowly, but then while driving at around 55, an 18 wheeler passed us on a narrow road (we were going opposite directions) and the Jeep began shaking violently causing the motorhome to also shake. We thought it was caused by the wind force. We braked and came to a complete stop, got out to check the vehicles and discovered the tow bar had bent by the force of the shaking. There was no damage so we started back on the highway. Later, driving around 65 mph the Jeep started shaking, very unexpectedly. After stopping, we discovered the front of the Jeep severely damaged and almost torn off from the towbar..

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While the vehicle was stationary, the power liftgate would not open when prompted with a key fob. Upon opening the liftgate manually with a key, the contact noticed smoke exiting from the cabin of the vehicle and flames under the control module near the spare tire. In addition, the contact noticed that there was approximately a half of gallon of water in the bottom of the trunk of the vehicle. The contact extinguished the fire. A police report was not filed. There were no injuries sustained. Paulding Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of dallas, Georgia (1246 old griffin rd, 30157 (770)443-2277) was made aware of the failure and sent an inspector to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and determined that the vehicle was already repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 15V393000 (structure) and that it was no longer the manufacturer's responsibility. The failure mileage was 40,000.
