CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2016 Tucson comes with a dual-clutch, 7-speed transmission. But Hyundai forgot to tell you about one key phrase – zero-move. That's right, an alarming number of owners have said their SUV wouldn't accelerate after a stop.
Turns out that's because the transmission's application logic has been stumbling all over itself. Hyundai recalled the issue in September 2016, but it's difficult to say if owners are out-of-the-woods, or if this is just a sign of things to come.

Back passenger door will not open from the inside or outside and the window will only roll up or down using the switch on the door and not the master switch on the driver door. Presents a safety hazard for any back seat passenger. It was working on minute and then completely quit with the windowdown.
The right rear door of the vehicle will not open from either the inside or outside. It was a sudden failure. Worked when we stopped the vehicle, did not work when we returned to the vehicle 15 minutes later. It sounds like the electric locks are trying to work and the physical button on the inside is showing to be unlocked, but neither the inside handle or outside handle will open the door.
It all started out with the driver door. The push button fell off, the door was still able to open but now the wires are exposed. The co-Pilot door failed at opening. You have to pull it three times before it opens. Then the co-Pilot window stopped functioning. Went to go get it fixed and they said the door should be fixed after replacing the motor. False. Door still does not work. Rear passenger door does not open from inside or out. Could be a risk since now only one door in the back is operable. The window from the driver door stopped operating. That is now three of 4 doors. What is it going to take until this is a recall" also when the passenger window got fixed they said the plastic motor was slightly melted"! fire hazard.
Passenger side doors - first the front passenger door, then the rear passenger door - stopped opening. Front passenger door was able to be opened from the inside (rolling down window), but the back door had the child lock engaged so could not be opened at all. Analysis at dealership determined it was (in both cases) the actuator and this seems to be a widespread issue. This is a safety issue as I had my 3 year old in childseat in back and could not get to her quickly. I've now moved her car seat to the other side, however, I do not want to engage the childlock on that door in case the same thing happens - then I would not be able to reach her at all - this is a huge safety concern for me.

The car doesnt go when you step on the gas, pulling out in traffic is dangerous. The problem exasturbated when the cars 1st 15 minutes of running. And anytime I go from a complete stop for longer than 30 seconds, there is little momentum, whether I'm turning or going forward. I have to use the 7 speed manual to ensure safety pulling out into cross traffic, the results could be deadly. The car has been brought in several times, but route 60 Hyundai, vero beach is rude! getting a loaner for this recall was horrific the 1st time, and they wouldn't give me a vehicle the 2nd, 3rd or 4th time. #2 the doors and windows, the passenger front door and the passenger rear door, do not open from the inside or out, as well as the passenger window no longer operates, god forbid there is an accident, there is no escape. This vehicle has had 4 recalls, 1 being the transmission issue. This vehicle gets scarier every day, and I am disabled already. I dont want to die in this vehicle.
I have one door handle (back passenger side) that has broken off, one door handle (front drivers) starting to fail where I have to pull it 2 times to open the door. Also, the front 2 windows will no longer roll down and the back passenger window will not roll up. I am unable to fix the back passenger side window due to the broken door handle that has completely made the door inoperable from inside or out and is extremely unsafe as a passenger in the back seat can not exit through that door.
All four of my windows have stopped working. The motor part works B/C I can hear it...the window just doesn't go up or down. It's likely off the tracks. I can understand one but all four.....seriously all four windows do not work. All this happened coicidentally jsut as I hit the 65,000 mile mark with the exception of hte driver side that I was able to get under warranty. If there is a recall needed it's for the windows!
Power windows fail to operate, left turn signal fails to engage, brake light out indicator shows light out when its not.dealer notified and problem resolved but re occurs
The driver and back passenger door handles both just jammed one day, the driver window switch shorts out, dash lights will flash on and off randomly, the dealership has already replaced the transmission and the engine has been ticking for months and the dealership says its due to low oil and refused to look into it. Now its to the point of total engine failure.... please help me I havnt even had it for 2 years yet
This is the 2 time this happens the 1st times was the back door we still had warranty we got that fixed not its the driver side it does not unlock we have to go into the passenger side to unlock the driver side. If someone is following me how an I going to get into my car! this is a hazardous safety issue.
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that after coming to a complete stop, the vehicle hesitated to move forward while depressing the accelerator, without warning. The vehicle was previously taken to manly Hyundai (2755 corby ave, santa rosa, ca 95407) where an unknown software update was performed on vehicle however, the failure persisted. The contact linked the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 16V628000 (power train, electrical system). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000. The VIN was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai tuscon. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle suddenly stalled and smoke was present coming from under the hood. After opening the hood flames were discovered coming from the engine compartment. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the flames. A fire report was taken at the scene and the vehicle towed to the home. The cause of the fire was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified. In addition, the rear driver side door latch was inoperable. The failure mileage was 95,000.
About a week ago the rear passenger door occasionally began to remain locked once the vehicle was parked and shut off, instead of unlocking automatically. Now, this happens multiple times a day and the rear driver side door has started to do the same. I have 2 small children that are both in car seats and I am concerned that I will not be able to get them out of the car. Especially with the weather getting warmer.
In my case all three doors were locked and could not open in stationary, in motion, on a city street or highway, turning or off. It started with driver's door not opening from outside 1st and when I unlocked using my car key it wouldn't open. I had to open the door from passenger side in order to get to the driver's side. Then both back passenger left and right doors would not open from inside or outside. This created major concern and safety issue since I couldn't have anyone sitting in the back since no one could get in or get out. I took my car to dealership and since my car had 62,000 miles it was not covered under the Hyundai warranty. They replaced the driver door lock actuator for $392 in 12/13/2019. One month later in 1/13/2020 I started having the same problem with back right passenger door and one week later in 1/18/20 I had the same problem with back left passenger door. This time both back doors were locked from inside and outside so no one was able to get in or out. I took my car to aamco and they had to remove the doors trim & seals to get doors open and replaced both door lock actuators for $862.79. This has never happened with my other cars and it is a major safety concern when you are locked inside the car and can't get out. There has been many complaints online regarding the door lock actuators not functioning and requiring replacement. I'm hoping NHTSA can address this safety concern and ask Hyundai to recall and replace the parts. I know soon I will have the same problem with my trunk door and front right door. Greatly appreciate your help in this matter. The parts are poor quality and not designed to last and this creates safety concern.
2016 Hyundai Tucson eco: Vehicle was stationary and I noticed the air bag indicator is illuminated. I removed keys from ignition and re-started with same results. Not sure if it's a module or a defective restraint system.
In summer of 2019 I noticed left rear passenger window stopped functioning. A few months later, right passenger door started not opening from the outside. Fast forward 3 months later, driver wide window stopped functioning and now a few short weeks later the left rear passenger door will no longer open from the outside. I have tried operating the windows that aren't working while the vehicle was stationary and also while moving. The doors obviously have only been attempted to be open while stationary and in park. I believe this to be a possible electrical issue? but I also believe this is a major safety concern and not normal wear and tear. Consumer stated she now has 3 doors and 2 windows that are not working properly. Dealership has been contacted.
The doors at times will not open, power windows will not go down. Vehicle hesitates when driving. When unlocking doors with remote, doors lock back on their own.
