Vehicle drifts while on the freeway or doing speeds of over 50 mph. It is very difficulty to keep the car in my lane. Something needs to be done about this as I see it being a safety hazard and I do not feel safe driving it on the freeway. I have noticed that the new 2014 Hyundai Sonata comes with driver selectable steering mode (dssm) standard on every Sonata. I believe every Sonata with this problem needs to be recalled and have this feature installed at no cost.

Vehicle wanders when traveling at 60+ mph. Can stay in my own lane. Cannot keep the vehicle going straight without constant adjustment. Steering sensitivity feels way too sensitive and is a major safety hazard at those speeds. It sounds to me like Hyundai is aware of this but has not provided any solutions.

From the time I bought it, the car wanders all over the road. Have taken it to the dealer many times and they adjusted it once. They are basically saying, "get use to it." They also said they would call the manufacturer, but that was weeks ago.

At highway speeds the car wanders all over the road. It requires constant correction to keep it in the lane of traffic. I just returned from a 3000 mile trip and I became very exhausted with having to constantly be. On the alert and correcting the steering. It is way too sensitive and does not track down the road as it should. I took it too the dealer and they informed me there was nothing they could do to fix the problem.

Steering wanders at all speeds, worse at highway speeds. Noticed after purchase and took it back to dealer 3 separate times, and they tried to adjust, change tires, checked tires and alignment and the issue still wasn't resolved. Took the car to Florida, 1600 miles, on Oct. 2012 and the steering was still bad. Took car to dealer in Florida and they said that is the way it is and denied that there was any problem with the steering. I now have 20000 miles and the wandering steering is terrible and I am very unsatisfied with the car.

From the past few weeks driving my new 2013 Hyundai Sonata gls, I know there is definitely something wrong with the electric power steering (eps) on the car. My car just keeps wandering when driving over 50 mph on freeway. It will keep wandering to the left and to the right. It requires constant correction to keep my car in the lane and the steering wheel is extremely sensitive. When the car wanders to the left, I would try to correct it back to center, but it won't stay straight and it wanders to the right after correction. It will happens a few times like that from a 15-mile freeway drive. One time, I over corrected it and it went to the other lane next to me and almost hit the car next to me. It was scary and totally dangerous. At first I thought the new tires required break-in and the problem will go away, but it has been over 2 weeks of driving and tires were already fully break-in. All of the tires are with good tire pressure at 34 psi and it can not be alignment issue since the car doesn't just go toward one side in high speed. I have been driving on the same freeway for years and there is no such issue with my other cars after I tested drive those cars on the same freeway, so it is not an issue on the pavement on the freeway. It is something wrong with the 2013 Hyundai Sonata's steering. Contacted Hyundai dealers in my location areas, they all said that the sensitive steering is due to the eps for the Sonata and there is nothing they can change since it is controlled by the car's computer. Please request Hyundai to take a look at their cars' eps and make proper adjustment, people are going to get hurt or killed someday if this is not being looked at. Thank you.

I have had my 2013 Sonata limited for two weeks. This is my third Hyundai vehicle after owning a 2011 Sonata limited and 2007 Santa Fe. The steering in the vehicle weaves from left to right (does not track straight) and control of the car is jeopardized by the smallest road Contour or gusts of wind requiring constant correction. As a result of the constant driving adjustments, I'm experiencing fatigue and shoulder/neck soreness. Equally alarming is the lack of control is extremely noticeable on highways at increased speeds. I first noticed this weaving as soon as I picked up the car from the dealership. I did not drive the exact car previously because the dealer secured it from another dealership. I took possession of the car on July 18, 2013. Following my first extended highway driving experience in the new Sonata, I mentioned this to the dealership and had the car immediately serviced on July 31st (less than two weeks of having the car). According to the service team, nothing was wrong with the car. However, the following night while driving to and from a dinner the car was constantly weaving in my lane. Having previously owned two Hyundai vehicles, I know this weaving and lack of control was not an issue in my other Hyundai cars.

Where do I start. This car has been more pf a pain than anything. After dealing with the steering sensitivity issue which resulted in new tires at 12000 miles, I now have a transmission issue that the dealer cannot diagnose. Beginning one month ago the car started making a loud whooshing noise eminating from the underside of the car. Thought nothing of it as I assumed that it was the new tires. Then came the transmission clunks after rapidly accelerating then decelerating. A couple of weeks ago the car, on several occassions, would clunk after starting and putting it into gear. Then the transmission would continue to shift hard through every gear, both during the upshifting and downshifting process for appx. 1.5 miles, then it would resolve itself. I also noticed that the car often fails to accelerate when attempting to overtake other vehicles. The car has been at the dealer for almost a week now and they are unable to determine what is causing this (cannot duplicate during test drives and no codes stored in the computer).

Vehicle wanders from lane to lane requiring constant correction. This condition causes fatigue when traveling at highway speeds. Vehicle driver can not take their attention off the road for more than a few seconds, especially in windy conditions or heavy traffic as the vehicle will wander. This causes premature tire wear tires must be replaced in as little as 10,000 miles and the cost is about 1K for all four tires. Problem two. Cruise control will not set or cancel must be turned off, or the brake depressed or the control buttons are inoperative pressing the cancel button does not turn off the cruise and if it does, after numerous attempts, the cruise will not reset.

Ever since purchased this car on 7/14/13, have had difficulty in keeping the car going straight at all speeds. It tends to wander in both left and right. Have to keep holding onto the steering wheel tight constantly to avoid drifting into other lanes. Over long distance driving, this has resulted in driver fatigue which is a potential safety hazard.

(today's date: 13july2013)..my 2013 Sonata le steering tends to wander on the road. It has since I purchased it in August 2012. The dealer says nothing is wrong; they can't really notice it. Yet I almost constantly need to make steering adjustments for small uncommanded directional changes particularly at speeds between 35 and 70 mph (it drives better at 80 mph). I seems worse on various road surfaces (smooth asphalt vs rough/oil aggregate surface vs cement etc.). I just recently became aware that this has been a problem for many 2013 Sonata owners. It adds to driver fatigue (tiring) and makes driving much less enjoyable, and even scary, particularly in heavy traffic at freeway speeds. If you become distracted for even just a moment, you could move into another lane (or car). In other words, you're constantly compensating, it's like your driving a motor boat where you're constantly adjusting the steering wheel. Also, the car has the worst tire noise of any car I have ever owned. The dealer says it's normal for this car.

My first time at highway speeds noticed the vehicle was difficult to keep in a straight line. I had to continually correct the steering left and right to effectively adjust the track as vehicle tended to "wander" on its own. I don't notice this issue at lower around town speeds, but it is clearly present at highway speeds!

The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the steering wheel veered to the sides independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 12.

Just bought a Hyundai Sonata 2013 that the steering wheel locks and I can't start the car. I need another person to turn the steering wheel because it locks so hard. I have been stranded twice where I needed help. Just today I hurt my wrist, hand and arm trying to start the car, it wouldn't turn needed help. Hyundai won't stand behind fixing it, they say it is the way it is designed. Had it in service a few times. I have a car that will not run. And when it does it has the roughest ride of any car I ever had, especially on the freeways. This should be a recall item. What do we do?
