My car was stalling, at a stop light, wouldn't start up at home and wouldn't start at work. Called triple aaa and purchased a battery from them, however I had the old battery tested and it was still good. Took my car to the dealership because my car was leaking oil after 2 months back and forth in their shop they could not find the issue. I called corporate to file a complaint a few times and was always told that there was nothing they can do because warranty had expired. I took my car to an outside mechanic within 30mins they found the issue. When the tech removed the cylinder head 6 of the rear head bolts were loose and the threads had pulled out of the block and 4 from the front head. Tech drilled out all rear block head bolt holes and installed time serts and the 4 in the front head. After repair no more oil leaks. I called Hyundai corporate because of there design failure it was their responsibility to pay for it $4526.02. Again Hyundai said they were not liable. I want to be reimburse for all my out of pocket expenses.

Merged into I-95/thruway from dunkin donuts and noticed the vehicle having difficulty going up slight hill. The vehicle wouldn't accelerate and had a light new noise. I pulled onto the shoulder and noticed a check engine light. Put the vehicle in park, open the hood noticed heat coming from under the hood but nothing noticeable. Tried to turn the vehicle back on and it wouldn't turn on. Had the vehicle towed to nearest mechanic who said they wouldn't touch it because it seems like an engine issue and take it to Hyundai. All the Hyundai nearby were closing and couldn't help for 2 days. Had my vehicle towed back to my borough almost 2 hours away. Vehicle is currently sitting the Hyundai service to be looked at in 2 days and no guidance on what to do in the meantime besides call your insurance. Thankful we caught the issue and pulled over before it completely shut off. Otherwise 5 people including a 4 year old would have been in an accident with another/other vehicles because the vehicle would not accelerate or turn on after I pulled onto the shoulder. The vehicle has 42,000 miles on it, purchased cpo 4 years ago at Hyundai along with tlp and full coverage. First time this car ever gave us any issue. No warning signs between the dunkin and the incident 4 miles of gut feeling saying pull over something is not right.

My Hyundai Santa Fe gls recently seized mid drive. There was no prior warning, no lights including oil light or engine light. The car, which has been serviced through this dealership and purchased through this dealership is undriveable and according to the dealership, they do not know why and Hyundai is "now tight in the purse" and won't fix issues with their cars since covid. I was told that this type of circumstance was seen with the elantra, but not the Santa Fe before. I am advised that this vehicle, which is the third Hyundai I have purchased and still make loan payments on is now a lemon and I would be better suited to get a new motor from a junk yard. I am a family of six people and just recently moved into a new home, so having an unusable vehicle and being able to fund a new motor in what was told to me is a quality car is not ok. Despite this, it is still under no circumstances ok that a vehicle like this should have a motor just quit. According to articles online, I see that this has been a problem with this year/make/model. The man at the dealership will not discuss any further and will offer very little information. I am at an utter loss. I have been a good customer. I have a family. Please, please help. Please.

I was driving the vehicle had just merged off the highway and noticed that all the lights on the dashboard flashed and the vehicle had stopped while I was driving still in park. I tried to put the car on in park but it wouldn't allow me to the car rolled back while still in drive. I cut the car off and back on again and was able to get to the next light where the car cut off completely still in drive during oncoming traffic again. The passenger driver was able to put the car in park turn the car off and back on place the car in reverse into an parking lot where I called for a tow truck cause the car would never start back up. Was told that the engine locked up on after having several mechanics look at the vehicle and still today I have a car that I just purchased in may and can't drive due to the engine locking up.

I was driving through the highway at 80mph and I just lost power. Check engine and oil warning lights came on. When I turned the car on to exit highway I heard a knocking sound coming from engine. Basically I had to have it towed. I found out the next day about a recall 162 about engine failure for this model. I contacted Hyundai usa because I purchased the vehicle in the us and after 5 days not hearing from them I decided to call back only to be told that the case has not been handled yet. So now I am being told that they cannot do anything for me. I am left with a recall that is not my responsibility. Way to go Hyundai.

For the past 12-14 mos I've had to add additional 1-4 quarts of oil after verifying low oil on dip stick in between regularly scheduled oil changes at Firestone. They noted Dec 2019 internal oil leakage. Oil light never came on. Most recently Feb 14, 2020 check engine light came on checked dip stick twice it only had oil on tip, added 2 quarts oil, light went off. Check eng light came on few days later, repeated dip stick check =added 3 more quarts oil few days later. Repeated several xs throughout Feb 2020. Paid 3 separate mechanics all stated internal oil leak. 1 mechanic stated had several customers with same complaint. He informed me check with dealer for 1 recall or 2 extended warranty & due to oil consumption problem. He estimated approx $5K + to rebuild engine, piston rings issue. I called dealer asked cost for them to check was quoted MINI139 to start. When they emailed appointment confirmation, I confirmed appmt Mar 14, 2020 & asked 1. if a recall existed 2. if extended warranted covered it. When I got there today I asked same 2 questions & was told to pay $42 for oil change #1 today & bring car every 1000 miles 3 more times free of charge so they can track internal oil leak. Was told extended warranty only went to 120,000, my car's @ 125,600. I asked why I wasnt informed of this extended warranty as I received letter last year when I brought car in for courtesy software update & 2018 another courtesy check, they couldnt explain. I feel if I didnt use buzz words 4th mechanic told me I would have been charged more $. a mechanic 3 days ago said I needed exhaust manifold catalytic convtr $1244 & new spark plugs & coils $703. Infomed this mechanic I pd $600 approx 6 mos ago for spark plugs due to hesitation in acceleration & jerky & sputtery motion. I feel like Hyundai is aware of this problem & I read similar issues resulting in fires. I'm still payin on car.

The contact's daughter owns a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at 40 mph, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who informed the driver that the vehicle was subjected to a recall. The vehicle was then towed to (boulder Hyundai 2555 30th St, boulder, co 80301) where the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 17V226000 (engine and engine cooling). Not long after the vehicle was repaired the 4-wheel drive feature was activated, however the feature failed to engage or operate without warning. The vehicle was taken back to dealer where the driver was informed that the transmission and the rear differentials needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 122,219. Consumer took vehicle to hotchkiss auto repair (denver, co) and was informed that the transfer case had been removed from the transaxle. They found that all of the splines on the output shaft had been worn down and were not meshing with the splines of the transfer case. Consumer was told that this could have been caused by the prior engine work that was done on vehicle.

Vehicle was in the dealership for safety recall campaign 162 on 11/6/19. Dealership instructed me to get an oil change, drive my vehicle, and return every 700-1000 miles to have oil levels checked. I complied and drove my vehicle on a short trip on 11/8/19. At approximately 8:30 pm, as I was driving down the highway, my vehicle's engine seized and I lost all power to my vehicle. My wife and 2 children (4 and 6) were in the vehicle. We were able to coast off of the road and into a gas station parking lot. I contacted the manufacturer and was told that it would be my responsibility to tow the vehicle, find immediate transportation, and pay for a rental vehicle until it had been determined that the engine failure was due to Hyundai safety recall 162. I feel that my family's safety was unnecessarily put at risk as I had my vehicle at the dealership two days prior for this exact recall. The original dealership examining the vehicle is checkered flag Hyundai. Because I was out of town, my vehicle was towed to tysinger Hyundai where it is currently located awaiting an engine replacement.

On September 20th 2018 after having the car a week, the car made a noise would not start all the dashboard lights were blinking on and off then never came on again. The car was taken to the dealer for them to say it was a battery, which they never gave a service receipt for no matter how many times I asked. Then again on August 7 2019 my engine light came on and car stop while driving on the expressway with my kids in the car. Thankfully we were able to get off the expressway which was a very scary situation. After about 30 min that did restart but would not accelerate of 60 mph. As we coasted the remainder of our trip. Then again on October 7 the light came on again after receiving an oil change and tune up. This time smoking and stalling and never coming back on again. The brake would be pressed when the push to start betton never went to the on position.
