My wife and myself were on a little road trip and the vehicle lost power while on the freeway. It wouldn't go over 60 mph which was concerning as we were in the middle of freeway traffic. I managed to get to an exit and shut off the vehicle. I restarted it and it seemed to be fine. We continued to where we were going and on the way home, the same thing happened, again at freeway speeds. I was able to exit again, turned the vehicle off then restarted and it was ok. We were almost home and it shut off, while driving which is exciting but not in a good way. It restarted and ran fine. It did throw an engine code this time. It said it was a fuel pressure issue. A few days later we figured we should take it by the dealership, which is two hours from our home, and my daughter, my wife and myself headed that way. On the way while driving 60+mph the engine came apart. The cabin filled with smoke and it was hard to steer and brake on top of not being able to see. The engine had multiple holes in it. We had it towed to the dealership and they said the engine wasn't covered as we had the services done at a shop local to us (services were all documented). I've been around engines and cars my entire life and am a mechanic and have never seen a vehicle with 100,000 miles have an engine fail this badly. We're having to put a new engine in just so we can get rid of this car as I don't fill it's safe for my wife or kids to be in with these issues and a manufacturer that just shrugs it off when their product fails this badly. We've spent the last several weeks between the dealer and manufacturer trying to get resolution but nothing. It's our fault this happened they said. If we had only gotten it serviced by them then this wouldn't of happened. I'm pretty sure that's not how it works.

The alternator suddenly failed. This caused the batter to rapidly deplete and lose all electrical function of the vehicle. Loss of power steering, breaks, lights, instrument cluster and gauges. basically the vehicle rolled to a stop. Further investigation has shown that this issue is not uncommon on the Palisade. A quick google search revealed dozens of people with the same issue. Since it-??s on several year models of the Palisade it points to the alternator. It goes out and the battery cannot support the electronics.

The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while his wife was stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled without warning. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle experienced rough driving. The contact later discovered that the engine oil level was extremely low. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer performed an oil consumption test, an engine leak down, engine compression test, and carbon cleaning on the engine; however, the vehicle continued to experience the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 13,700.

While driving in heavy rains, check engine light comes up and vehicle starts vibrating. Once the vehicle is stopped and restarted the light & vibration goes away. This happened twice in 2 months ( July & aug 2021) and while driving in Interstate. I did report to the dealer/service manager after the first time and they were not able to pull up any logs/codes from the vehicle computers. The second time, it happened, I took the photo of the same. First time it occured when I had about 17500 miles on the vehicle. Second time it was 19643 miles. Both times it was raining heavily and speed was between 40- 50 miles/hour

About 1 1/2 hours into a 7 hr trip driving on vacation the car started running rough. Upon slowing the engine shut off several times. The car started knocking and the check engine light came on about 30 min from our destination. We took it to the closest Hyundai dealer who informed us the engine needed to be replaced because it had no oil in it. We NEVER had a low oil light or check oil light come on. I had checked the oil life before we left on our trip and knew I had a cushion of several hundred miles before it was due for an oil change. This could have caused all of us in the car since the car shut off and all power was gone.

While driving on highway 290 West to fredicksburg, Texas on April 2,2021, speed limit varies from 50-60 mph, the vehicle just stopped, all systems were out, message on the screen said "take to service, when convenient". it was very scary as the vehicles from behind were honking and I could not get the car to the side. It could have been a major accident with fatalities.

Vibration at speeds of 64/65mph and up. Not sure if driveshaft or transmission. Hyundai has issued a tsb but will not honor it. I have asked 2X for dealer service dept. To evaluate this problem. They said they do not have to honor this tsb. I have seen on forums others are having same problem with cars made in December 2019. It is painful to drive on the highway and I do not know if it is the driveshaft, will it break" will the transmission fail" this is a brand new car purchased new and it is unsafe to drive on the highway and I cannot get Hyundai to look at the problem and they have sent emails saying tough luck. This is anytime you are driving on interstates or highways with speed limits of 70mph..at around 64/65 car steering wheel, seat, floor vibrates unless you go below 63mph. Happens every time. First time was driving home from dealer on highway--been reaching out to Hyundai usa since July been to dealer in July, August...but always told appointment will be two weeks to 6 weeks away.

  • 4,500 miles
I bought the car in Jan 2020, and found that it was leaking oil on June 2020, after 4500 miles. The oil leak looks to be significant as I had found drops and puddles on my garage floor. The oil leak seems to be coming from the transmission/engine connection area, or possibly the upper oil pan. The car is currently still in dealer service for repair.
