The vehicle stalled and the contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle experienced a severe oil leak, slipping transmission, and alternator failure. The contact was informed by an independent mechanic that the oil failure caused the drive belts to slip, which caused a failure in the alternator recharging the battery as intended. The contact stated that the battery needed to be replaced due to the oil leak. We had this van, and three time transmission blew first time it blew at 50,000 mile, second time it blew at 70000 and third time it blew at 112000 mile, and we are not getting good response from Honda customer service. First time when it blew, I call them they said you passed the number of years so we are not going to fix it free, I end up paying from my pocket. I got new transmission form Honda, second time when it blew that time it is only 20,000 mile, when I went to dealer, they said they cover only 1 year 12,000 warranty, I end up paying from my pocket, now this third time it blew up, if I am not proper response then I need to think in future, I might go with different manufacture. Electrical panel is also not working. If Honda making this kind of car/van and this kind of customer service, then I need to think in future, I might go with different manufacture.

The battery on my Honda Odyssey was found dead this morning. This is more than 10 times in the last 2 years and more than 50 times since I got it in 2007. Have had the battery replace and still no improvement. Reading on the internet suggest a Honda issue with the electrical system that they do not acknowledge. A lot of people are having the same issue. Letting the Odyssey sit for an hour or two somehow fixes the issue and it starts. Very frustrating and need an authority to put pressure on Honda.

We were driving down the road and noticed a small wisp of smoke coming from the steering column. We exited the highway and took the plastic cover off the steering column and investigated. Seeing no more smoke we figured a fuse had blown or some such and took a short break from driving. We got back in the van and started off down the highway and for 30 miles or so no problems. Suddenly we noticed the smoke again but this time there was a small cigarette lighter type flame coming from the turn signal box on the column. We immediately exited the next exit and parked on the exit ramp. We tried mango juice to extinguish the fire which worked for a short time but then the fire was back. We called 911 and before the fire department could get there (approx. 2-3 minutes) the small little flame had grown to consume the entire car in flames. The car was totally demolished by the fire.

2000 Honda Odyssey, the electric sliding door does not shut all the way and there is possibility that it can open while driving at high speed, that can result in a very dangerous situation because mostly small children are riding in the back seat.
I have a problem with the power sliding doors. On our 2000 exl Odyssey, the passenger and driver side power sliding doors close but not quite all the way, it will not "engage", or "catch". therefore, the van thinks the door is still open (open door light is on, buzzes continually when put into gear, and interior lights stay on). I have to get out and bump the rear of the door to get it flush. For some reason the back lock part isn't "catching".
Electric back doors are inconsistent with either not opening/shutting all the way. Sometimes will not open at all. Not safe with children/persons in backseats for emergency situations. Honda repaired once when under certified warranty. Has happened several times after. Vehicle not under warranty and Honda dealer is charging astronomical amount to repair. Saying there could be electrical shorts and possible danger. Hope something can be done to help all of us, according to online info, several hundred similar complaints exist.

Just bought vehicle today. Driving 70 mph on freeway, knee resting on bottom of steering column, suddenly vehicle dash goes blank, engine powers off, radio continues playing. I coast to nearest exit ramp, exit freeway, come to a full stop. Upon placing vehicle in park, I try to restart vehicle and it restarts without problems. Seems to be common and known problem with ignition switch.
Check engine light came on about 3 times and paid for them but, after reading all the recalls I knew that is a problem have talk to the service dept they just fix up and sent it to be paid. My insurance company has also paid out on the vehicles 2 out of 3 recalls I have already been through with vehicle what can I do about it"??"
The contact owns a 2000 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that both of the sliding doors were experiencing numerous failures. The doors are supposed to automatically slide open whenever she presses the buttons or pulls on the handle. When she does this, the doors fail to open properly. Occasionally, the doors do not open at all and will close halfway, forcing her to have to exit the driver's seat and close the door manually. The failure has since worsened. The rear driver's side sliding door was not working at all. The passenger side sliding door will not automatically close and must be opened or closed manually. Both doors were replaced under warranty. The contact was unsure of the work performed on the doors at the time of service; however, the failures would immediately recur. The only way that the rear passengers could exit the vehicle was through the front passenger or driver's side door. The contact believes that in an event of a crash, the children would not be safe. The doors have not been replaced and only the passenger side sliding door is currently able to open. In addition, the transmission is failing and has been repaired at least three times. While driving, the contact noticed that the brake and tcm indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. When she reached 40 mph, the RPM dial began moving up and down randomly. She took the vehicle to the dealer, but they could not find any failures. A few days later while driving 40 mph, the vehicle shut off and was towed to the dealer. The dealer rebuilt the transmission; however, it failed again six months later. The transmission was replaced a second time, but failed again after a few weeks. The failure mileage was 74,614 and current mileage was 137,066.
