Ever since I had this 2006 Civic Hybrid, the rear tires have worn out way too frequently. They wear on the inside edge and cause a noise like a wheel bearing problem. I have had two blowouts from this problem. I believe the gas mileage of the car has been affected by this also.

There seems to be a drag when decelerating that is greater than my non-hybrid vehicles, and greater than that of my 2003 Civic Hybrid also. I was not aware that there had been a class action lawsuit until today when I began searching for rear end parts for the 2006 Hybrid because of the noise coming from the driver side rear.. which a mechanic informed me was coming from the tires.... again. The tires wear on the inside and you can see a band of light/dark areas on the inside tread of the tires. This is the fourth time I have experienced this problem in 8 years, and there are only 85,000 miles on my car.

There is no doubt about the uneven inside rear tire wear on 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid. All three of our last Civics have this wear which is very costly and dangerous. Our local Dealer always maintains that there is nothing wrong with the suspension design. Regularly rotated, our 100,000 mile warranty tires constantly disintegrate the same way in half their life. This new (5th) tire change we are buying only 30,000 mile warranty tires because we don't get much more miles from 100,000 mile tires anyway.

The Honda Civic rear suspension doesn't hold the tread square on the road. Rear suspensions should not be so hard for the Maker (Honda) to resolve forever. It's a real thorn in there reputation.

We know people who love their Honda Civics for everything except the same type uneven inside rear tire wear as with our three Civics. They have sold their Civics at a loss as they honestly explain the nightmare tire wear. We will not buy another Civic (Hybrid or not) until we are sure this simply stupid design problem is resolved.

Our 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid was never abused. The rear control arms should not be going bad on a 4 year old car and ruining 2 tires that were not that old! I have to wonder if these control arms were undersized and could not handle the extra weight of the battery pack. Honda should get a good engineer on this and fix this problem and repay the owners for this repair. Look what has happened to Toyota when they looked the other way. I will not buy a Toyota and now may not buy another Honda. We had a 1983 Honda Civic that ran like a little tank.
