This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
"delayed shift into drive or reverse" when in park position, I shift the car to drive, and there is a slight delay in the engagement into drive; or when I'm on a ride and need to park and go in reverse. I step on the break and shift to reverse and notice it takes about a second to a second and a half to feel that the car has engaged. The delay happens if it's either cold in the morning or after it has been driving for a while.

As I was pulling out of my driveway at night (the car had been sitting there all day), I heard a crackling sound and noise coming out of the rooftop. I stopped right away, got out of the car to see a big hole in the center of the moonroof glass panel. The glass fell on the on the inside roof slider (which luckily was closed). The moonroof glass panel was intact and not damaged from the prior drive. It just disintegrated on its own as I was pulling out of the driveway, and clearly not the result of a road hazard/impact as Honda/dealership asserted (even though I told them the circumstances under which this happened).
I was burned on my left arm as a result of the airbag deploying. I could not see out of the windows after the airbags deployed. The vehicle was going appropriately 10-15 mph while turing left onto a hwy when it was hit by another vehicle
My husband was driving down the interstate (in November, it was a decent day and before the cold weather hit), no traffic around him and he was not near an overpass, when his sunroof exploded. He said it sounded like a shotgun blast. His ears were ringing for days. He took the car to Honda that very day and they suggested it was a rock and he said absolutely not and insisted that they repair it. They did not argue and were very good to us and repaired it with no problems. My husband is really afraid it could happen again.

Honda Civics from 2015 on appear to have a problem with the remote control, in particular the sensor for the trunk. The particular car in question is a 2017 Honda Civic. Extreme sensitivity results in the slightest pressure, without the owner being aware, activating the car trunk, and the trunk will open and remain open until the owner or someone closes it. A trunk that opens randomly and not by deliberate action is obviously a safety factor and needs to be addressed. Dealers, service people, and the auto maker itself have all denied that the problem exists and that if it does exist it cannot be addressed because it is the owner's action that causes this problem. There has not even been a suggestion or advice as to how to deal with an overly sensitive remote or a randomly opening trunk. A car remote control which will activate an action just by a mere accidental touch, is an inconvenience at best, and at worst, a problem that needs to be addressed and fixed. A car with an open trunk can lead to situations which can be potentially dangerous, and not acceptable in any way. I am hoping for some action on the part of the carmaker and the auto company, as I am at a loss as to what to do and have failed to receive any acceptable response from those whom I have contacted. Although one particular date has been provided below for this event happening, it has happened over 10 times since the purchase of this vehicle and can happen randomly at any time.
Flashing flickering entertainment system. The system has also reset itself 2 times while in operation again flashing and flickering. The sound cuts out as well while this happens. I have a video recording of a partial incident. Honda refuses to answer my questions regarding my concerns for my safety regarding the issue. They also claim that the issue cannot be duplicated in the dealership. However this occurs sporadically and they have only look at it for a few hours even after I asked that the vehicle not be returned till the issue was resolved.
I purchased a new Honda Civic on January 7, 2017. Previously my new car did not want to start on 1/28/17. 21 days after my new purchase. I had the same trouble again when my new car did not want to start on 4/29/17 at 5:20pm. I was in a parking lot and it would not start. I called Honda roadside assistance at 1-866-864-5211 and they said a tow truck would arrive at 6pm. They did not show up at 6pm. At 6pm I received a text that a tow truck would show up at 6:45pm. It was very hot and I thought I was going to suffer from a heat stroke. After many tries, my car eventually started at 6:15pm. I am very frustrated with this car. When I took the car into the dealership on 5/1/17 to clawson in fresno, ca. I was told they did not have any rentals and they would call me on 5/2/17. They did not call me on 5/2/17. I went to the dealership on 5/2/17 and they said they did not have any rental cars. I called Honda corporate at 1-800-999-1009 and clawson Honda authorized a rental car for one day.
My new car will let you turn off (push button) and get out and walk away while still being in gear. I exited my vehicle in this situation and it rolled down the drive and hit a tree. It was 3 feet from rolling into a highway that could have resulted in serious injury or death. Older cars you cannot remove the key. You should not be able to turn off the car without some other safety feature to keep this from happening.
Motor vehicle collision on freeway going 68 mph speed upon impact by another vehicle, orbital eye fracture, split forehead, airbag may have deployed late
I purchased a new Honda Civic 2017 with 11 miles on 1/7/17. 21 days later, on 1/28/17 my car did not start after work. The tow truck had to jump start my car and after numerous attempts it started. I work downtown and it was dark and late. This is unacceptable for a new car. I took it to the dealer next day and they replaced the battery. I am fearful that my "new" car may not start again.
