Honda civic is a 2017 and the ac went out> there has been a lot of civics from 16-18 that have had the same issues. Honda will not do a recall due to defective A/C compressor units even though there has been several cases. summer is here and my 17 civic gets up to 110 degrees inside while transporting family. i have done some research and there is tons of websites filled with people complaining about the same issue. this has cost them hundreds of dollars and still no recall.

The AC is not working, I took it to a repair shop and they replaced the air conditioner. They charged $1800. Under the 6 month warranty I took it back because it was not cooling, the repair shop said the car had little holes near the condenser which drained out the Freon, they filled it again with Freon

My 2017 Honda Civic has been blowing out hot air. At just 36k miles. It is unsafe to be driving my younger siblings and nephew in this hot weather, My vehicle is a salvage so -??it wasn-??t applicable for me to get the recall-?? but I believe that shouldn-??t matter Honda purposely knew their were defects in the AC but yet do not want to own up to it and fix it.

The air conditioner stopped cooling and was throwing out warm air. When we took the car to the local Honda dealer they said it was covered under an a/c condenser recall TSB 19-091:6C300. On 7/8/2021 after the repair was completed, the tech mentioned that even after they replaced the condenser there was still a leak in the compressor and we need to get that replaced as well. The compressor is not covered under warranty or recall and we may have to spend about $1200 for it. This 2017 Honda Civic was purchased by us on 8/31/2020 from another Honda dealer who (we found out later) had already replaced the condenser under the same recall notice on 8/6/2020 before selling it to us. It seems the leaking a/c condenser is also damaging the compressor over a period or the entire a/c unit had manufacturing defects and should be covered under the recall.

Air conditioning started to blow hot and the Freon was low. Had to refill the Freon which is using the new R-1234yf fluid which is hard to find at autozone and is very expensive for a 1 pound can at $50. Still cheaper than a mechanic or dealership price. Problem is that the car has 27000 miles and has only been driven sparingly and was never abused. A month later and it-??s starting to blow warmer only on 100 degree weather. I currently cannot afford to have full repairs done to the AC. Never had hit anything with my car. Paint and interior is in near excellent condition. So it-??s obviously not my fault. Honda should be ashamed.

Honda gives the condenser problem a extended warranty, yet they are not addressing the EVAP leak as their faulty. This EVAP leak is apparent to civic owners and they need to take the full responsibility for the malfunction. I drove over 3 years with less than 20,000 miles on the car, which should not have the a/c problem.

My air conditioner does not blow cold air as was working before. It has 30,000 miles. Dealership said condenser would be replaced if defective. It would cost $500. to inspect and determine the cause. Defective condenser could have caused damages to other parts of air conditioning unit. I cannot afford $500. to inspect to find possible damage to operation of car, such as electrical, or leaks, or compressor. Along with refrigerant quoted by dealership at $150. per pound. The air conditioning unit was poorly designed as a common issue other owners have experienced. Repairs could result in the thousands of dollars. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms noticed. I checked fuse and relay. Freon refrigerant should not have leaked as I have never had this happen with other cars I-??ve owned with much more mileage. Heat in parked car in sun could be detrimental to my young children. If car should be inspected by auto air conditioning specialist shop, and repairs made, would dealership complete repair of condenser if it is the cause. Auto air conditioning specialist would cost cheaper than $500. Their hourly rates are cheaper. To inspect and determine the cause. My name is [XXX] and can be reached at[XXX]. The AC in my '17 Honda Civic Hatchback went out and I took it to the local dealership (where purchased) to have it diagnosed. Upon review, they informed me the AC's evaporator unit is leaking and it will cost $2K to replace. I'm aware there is a recall (TSB 19-091) on the condenser from 2016-2018 Civics. Honda came out with a TSB regarding this issue, all 2016-2018 civics have 10yr/unlimited mile warranties now on condensers. TSB 19-091, dated Dec 11th 2019. Per the bulletin: " American Honda is extending the warranty on the A/C condenser to 10 years from the original date of purchase with unlimited miles. This warranty only covers vehicles that have a defective A/C condenser from the factory. The A/C condenser was not manufactured to specification. As a result, tiny holes may develop in the condenser tube walls that allows the refrigerant to leak out. " However, there seems to be an equally large number of complaints online about compressors and evaporators failing in those years of Civic as well. As such, it turns out failure across ALL the components of the AC system (compressors/condensers/evaporators) is relatively common after only a handful of years. I believe an amended bulletin should be provided to cover ALL repairs across the AC system. As a Father, with two kids under the age of 2, it's not suitable for them to ride in a vehicle without AC. Especially with the 100+ temps we get in the middle of Kansas in Summer. Additionally, the lack of a function AC debilitates the function of the Defrost making it extremely dangerous to drive in foggy, rainy, and/or humid conditions. There are multiple articles explaining these exact malfunctions as well: https://www.civicx.com/forum/threads/2016-2019-evaporator-failures-leaks.52319/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Honda/comments/lyne6q/2017_honda_civic_ac_evaporator_leaking/?utm_source=BD&utm_medium=Search&utm_name=Bing&utm_content=PSR1 There were no warnings prior to my AC going out.

This vehicle was purchased in May 2017 and in April of 2021 the paint started peeling off the exterior around the rear window. This does not put my safety at risk but I do see that Honda has had this problem with many of their vehicles in recent years. This problem was reported to American Service Honda on June 4 2021, but because I am days past the expiration date of warranty Honda refuses to diagnose the issue without cost to me. I did not immediately report it when first noticed because I had not realized how recent this car was purchased. But like stated prior, Honda has confirmed the same issue for other of their models in recent years. I have owned other vehicles like toyotas and other brands to which do not have the same issue so it is not due to sun damage nor wear. Another issue is that the window trims on all passenger and driver windows are breaking shrinking and falling apart. Again this is also known problem with honda cars in consumer reports.org all throughout the U.S. This may be of safety concern if they fall off while driving I wouldn't want it to land on another cars front window or perhaps the windows can be damaged or cracked. One last thing that is also a common issue for hondas, that is an issue for mine is that the front bumper is very low it gets stuck on parking bumpers this causes the sides to start breaking and if it were to fall off it would be a major safety concern.

My 2017 Honda Civic EXL hatchback has a little over 23000 miles. I bought it back in 2016 and have no issues until last summer. The ac blows hot air and under the hood there is a hissing sound coming from the front passenger side. I live in Florida and thank God I have no children to suffer with me. I have to completely change my schedule to night because the heat is unbearable and I'm worried about my health and safety. I'm now aware that Honda is having all this issues with the ac for years and have done nothing about it. The dealers only want to charge people to have it fix knowing it was defective from the beginning. Just a diagnostic is about $700. Do people need to die of heat strokes before doing a recall?

Vehicle loses AC refrigerant. They replaced leaky condenser after my having to take it in 13 times and fight with them. Now AC evaporator makes noise and they won't replace it because it hasn't completely failed. I paid $1846 extra to have an extended warranty but it has done me no good. Now my warranty has run out and I face a failing AC system known to have a refrigerant that eats holes in every part of the AC system. If my AC system fails and I can't afford to fix it, I risk fogged up windows and loss of vision and heatstroke when it is hot and I live in California and it is hot often.

2017 honda civic, 60K miles, started blowing warm air. Dealership stated it wasn't the condenser thats under active recall, it just happens to be the compressor. $2500 to fix, 3 weeks and I havent heard from Honda Corp. This presents a clear safety concern under wet and humid conditions due to condensation on the windshield.
