I own two Honda's and never had any major problems.

Noticed after the winter that the roof paint was looking white just along the window area.

My entire car is dulling and it is getting worse and worse by the day. Originally my roof faded and I paid to get that redone (which Honda would NOT reimburse me for) and now the whole car is starting to fade. There is crackle marks all over the hood and fenders are starting to look dark gray. Even when I wash my car it still looks dirty. My car is a 2009 and it looks like it is 15 years old because of this paint problem. I shouldn't have to replace a 5 yr old car.. especially when Honda's are supposed to last so long. This is my first Honda and if Honda doesn't help me with this problem, it will be my last!! Please help!

I've only owned Hondas since I was a young fella, and never had a single problem with the paint. I even had one for 14 years with no problem. This is my first experience with the clear coat peeling and I want Honda to pay to have it repaired. Period.

I have owned this car since 11/2011. After the first of the year I noted with each month the clear coat on the car roof across the front, mid section and back section of the roof; the truck ridge along with a few areas on the hood. I will return with pictures. I will seek information with the my local Honda bodyshop to see how they can assist

We took car in for service at the beginning of February of this year. At that time, neither the dealer or myself noticed any problem with the clear coat fading. Right after that, the paint failure appeared, slight at first, but it spread like a cancer in a couple of weeks. When I showed it to independent body shops, their techs all were quick to point out that paint problems are common with Hondas.

Civic EX-L

Starting in 2012 I noticed that the paint and clearcoat were peeling off the top of my car in the front and back above the front windshield and back window. It is getting worse and worse. Now I noticed that it starting to happen on the top of my trunk now. I have noticed many other Honda Civics with the same problem. This car only has 88,000 miles on it and I still owe on it another year on my standard 5-year loan. I bought this car new and have taken good care of it.

I cannot afford to have it repainted with money from my pocket. I feel that this is a common problem with Hondas and Honda should fix it. If Honda does not step forward and fix the problem, I will never buy another Honda again.

Civic SI 2.0L

  • Manual transmission
  • 79,000 miles

My only beef is that the charcoal gray metallic paint on my 4 year old vehicle is starting to oxidize on the roof. For a Honda, or any other car, this seems to be pretty pathetic. With the current technology in paints and clear coats, I feel like this is way too early to be seeing any problems. I take great pride in how much Civic Si looks, and this is very distracting and looks like it could be a growing problem.

FOR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT YOU PAY FOR A CAR THESE DAYS THE PAINT SHOULD AT LEAST LAST 10 - 15 YRS. PRICES OF HOUSES HAVE GONE DOWN & YET CAR PRICES REMAIN THE SAME & ARE NOT BEING MADE UP TO THE PAST STANDARDS. IF HONDA IS HAVING A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE PAINT ISSUE IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED & FIXED FOR THE NEXT PURCHASER. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PAINT ISSUE & HAVE FIXED MY CAR WITH THE SCHEDULE MAINTENANCE THAT IS NEEDED. WE DO OUR PART THEY MUST DO THEIRS. JUST BECAUSE IT WILL NOT PHYSICALLY HARM ANYONE DOES NOT MEAN IT SHOULDN'T BE REPORTED AS A RECALL. WHEN IT COMES TO SELLING MY CAR IT WILL HARM ME BY NOT SELLING IT FOR THE AMOUNT I DESERVE.

I will never buy a Honda again. I see the same exact car and color as mine with the same exact problem. It looks horrible. It's bad enough to have a car for less than a year and have the paint peeling. Then, they sold me a $700 paint warranty, that doesn't cover the clear coat peeling.

A little over 3 years ago in 2009 I bought my first ever brand new vehicle and I knew that buying a new Honda was a good car with outstanding quality. I bought from Vista Honda A brand new 2009 Honda Civic. I was happy with it. A few months ago I began noticing some white spots on the roof of the car. So when I took it in to the dealership they took pictures of the problem and the toal miles on the odometer (17,100 miles on it) and the vehicle's VIN number. The assistant manager told me that he would call me in 3 business days and he never called me in return. Sov when I called him back he told me that I had to split the costs of the costs Of $350 each for the paint job I feel thats unfair because it was a defect from the manufacturer and noit mine.

Same problem as everyone else with a defective clear paint coating on car. Reported this to Honda, got a case number, went to dealership and they documented with picture. Waiting to hear back from Honda Customer Service but I am not optimistic. After reading numerous reports on various websites with people having the exact same problem, I'm willing to bet they will not agree to fix the problem. The guy on the phone kept stressing that the warranty expired. I kept stressing that they sold me a defective car. Bought the car new, about three and a half years ago, and after the 3 year warranty expired, I noticed terrible white spots beginning to appear on the roof and the trunk. Honda's extended warranty problem for 2006-2010 civics only applies to the hood and the fenders! I am furious. You will be forced to get it painted if they don't do it, because the clear paint deterioration continues to spread and eventually, the car rusts!!!! I bought this car is good faith and I am now looking to sell immediately. It's not even paid off yet!!! This is totally unacceptable and Honda should be ashamed of themselves. They need to take responsibility for their defective clear coat paint job on the entire car, not just the hood and the fenders. I will never purchase a Honda again. Not because they made a mistake, but because they are pretending they didn't!!!!

Paint is fading on three large spots on the roof of the car. Received notice in mail that paint warranty has been extended for my car - but only on the hood and fender where I am not (yet) having any issues. Taking it to collision center today to see if they will cover under warranty but am skeptical.

This vehicle has a recall for the "crows feet" on the hood and fenders. The damage I have is on the roof and top of the trunk, but I also have the crows feet damage. I have taken it to the Honda dealer for an inspection and they are sending a report to Honda. They claim the damage on the hood is not covered under any warranty or recall. I find this to be amazing. this is clearly a bad paint job. Clearly!

I am waiting for a response from Honda.
