CarComplaints.com Notes: It's rare when a newer vehicle has defect trends. Judging from the identical 2017 model year, the 2018 Honda CR-V is likely to have at least two — overfilled oil levels with a gas smell, & heat not working.
Both problems affecting the Honda CR-V's 1.5L "Earth Dreams" engine appear to be related to cold-climate regions.
CR-V owners also report no heat even after warming up their CR-Vs for 30 minutes — not even enough to defrost the windshield. So far, there has been no fix from Honda for this issue.

Unknown My car wasn-??t getting any gas stuck in traffic. Have complained to the dealership about the recall and the problem I was having I was given the run around about replacing the fuel pump
While driving on highway, I attempted to accelerate to pass, as I did all warning lights came on and I lost ability to accelerate. The car went into -??limp mode -??. Took it to local mechanic, the to Honda dealer. I was told I need a new engine, at a cost of over $16k.
Started car. Pulling out of garage going forward. Pushed the cruise control button on steering wheel instead of radio volume button by accident. Car suddenly began to rapidly accelerate. Took me a second or two hit brake to stop car. Pushing brake did stop car. If you activate the cruise control with the car running and in drive at any speed under 20 mph the car will accelerate to 20 mph.

be honest, I'm unsure of what systems are failing, but there are multiple. The dash shows Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA problem), Hill Start Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Power Steering (EPS) Problem, Electric Parking Brake Problem, Emissions System Problem, Brake System Problem. *These systems are integral to safe driving for me and my family, even though I can drive the vehicle. I cannot use cruise control, lane-keep assist, or brake hold, and the car is not handling like it was. It tends to be harder to control. * The warning lamps and messages are on and indicated in the first point. This happened on Monday while my wife was driving, and all those systems shut off. When she parked she did an online search of what the issue might be and found multiple YouTube videos of Honda owners for different models and years with the same problem. One remedy required a reboot of the electrical system in accessory mode. That worked for a day, but now the errors won't clear, and we're unable to use the vehicle's safety features.
Several times, the vehicle will brake without an obstacle in the road. It is extremely scary - at one time, it forced me to react unexpectedly and almost got into an accident. This is scary.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle unintentionally accelerated. Additionally, the RPM was fluctuating. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
This has happened about 3 times since I purchased the vehicle in end of 2018. While I was driving out of no where the car will just brake, there is nothing in front of me or blocking me and one time I was going about 40 mph and the others were when I was going about 30 and 50 so it-??s been a range. Luckily every time I-??ve been driving there has not been anyone behind me but for sure if someone was behind me, I possibly would-??ve gotten rear ended with how fast the car stopped. Other times the car will beep the brake indicator at me, but not stop the car just telling me I need to apply the brakes but there-??s nothing in front of me or around me.
Hello NHTS, I have been dealing with my vehicle stalling & losing power while driving on the freeway. This is a very dangerous issue with my Honda CRV. I have had this happen several times now and it was reported to Honda. Honda has not yet placed this issue on recall status. This needs to get looked at before someone gets injured or killed.
Emergency Braking system is activated while the car is on road in 30+ miles speed and the car lost it control. Managed to stop it after driving a car for almost a mile long and then applying the break with hard attempt. This happened twice one around 10:30 PM on Jul 29th, 2022 and the subsequent day when I try to pull my car out of drive way. I decided to call my insurance for towing the car and sent it to my regular service provider Battison Honda, (Address) 8700 Northwest Expy, Oklahoma City, OK 73162.
In early April 2022 the Body Control Module went bad. A replacement was ordered, and is still unavailable (Honda PN: 38809-TMM-A21). This rendered the car unable to be started, unless the battery was first disconnected and then reconnected (as advised by Honda Service). However, this results in several error lights, including emergency braking, hill start assist, lane keeping assist, collision warning systems, blind spot systems, as well as non-driving systems like operation of the windows, and the associated symptom of these systems working intermittently, or not at all. Honda still has not provided a reliable estimate for the part to be made available, despite escalating the situation to their corporate level. I am aware of other Honda models of the same year having BCM (Body Control Module) issues and a recall being current and active.
At times when I press down on the accelerator, the car tries to cut off! I have had times where I have come close to getting hit by another car. Don-??t know if anyone else is having this problem but I really like my car. I am scared that I am going to get hit when the car tries to stall when I push down on gas pedal. Thank You for taking the time to hear about my situation!
We were driving across Florida on 1-10 on final leg of a 3-day trip. At 73 miles per hour the center display went crazy. We got in short order an ACC warning and numerous other alarms in the driver information center under the speedometer. This continued for a minute. After slowing down and pulling off the road and shutting down car, the problem went away. The following Wednesday, the center vehicle display in city traffic went crazy beeping and flashing brighter then darker. The brightness setting slider bar came on and would not go away. The radio signal changed channels and volumes. A loud beeping similiar to the verification tone when inputting settings was going off repeatedly. Nothing stopped the above warnings until my wife arrived home and we shut down the engine. The only way to stop all was to shutdown the center display completely
I was driving straight in an open street, no obstacles at all. However, my vehicle started beeping and slammed the brakes to a complete stop. I was almost thrown out of my seat but thank god I had my seatbelt on. I checked my dash camera footage aswell no sign of obstacle, nothing at all. I believe its the collision mitigation braking system that got activated for no reason. I have my dash cam footage to support my claim.
I had just turned on highway and was accelerating to speed - at about 45 mph the auto braking engaged fairly sharply and something flashed on dash and beeped (too fast for me to read) and then it stopped. Acc & lkas were on but not engaged at the time. Sunny day and no vehicles around anywhere
On two occasions, the car has unexpectedly and without any reason, braked to a virtual stop, as though there were a vehicle directly in front of me, while driving in the city on a road going about 40mph. However, there were no cars anywhere near my vehicle. In addition, my car will also unexpectedly beep and signal to me that I must brake, again, without a car being in front of me, again, while in motion at approximately 35mph. The Honda dealer claims they have looked into my complaints, which I see as potentially life threatening, particularly if the car brakes on a fast moving interstate, and they are "unable to replicate the issue or find any sensor issues." The fact that this vehicle is operating correctly is patently untrue and the occurances regarding the sensor "brake" messaging is becoming more and more frequent.
A bunch of sensors including the radar, lane departure, collision detection was stolen from my 2018 Honda CRV without the central alarm getting triggered. The black box below the Honda logo was broken, and the sensor/connectors were pulled out. The vehicle was parking in my driveway.
