CarComplaints.com Notes: It's rare when a newer vehicle has defect trends. Judging from the identical 2017 model year, the 2018 Honda CR-V is likely to have at least two — overfilled oil levels with a gas smell, & heat not working.
Both problems affecting the Honda CR-V's 1.5L "Earth Dreams" engine appear to be related to cold-climate regions.
CR-V owners also report no heat even after warming up their CR-Vs for 30 minutes — not even enough to defrost the windshield. So far, there has been no fix from Honda for this issue.

No accident. Loud Braking noise. Dealership service department has checked 3 times and say they don-??t see anything wrong. They tell me my brakes and surrounding parts are fine.
Several times, the vehicle will brake without an obstacle in the road. It is extremely scary - at one time, it forced me to react unexpectedly and almost got into an accident. This is scary.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle experienced unintended braking. The contact stated that the brake warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that he had experienced the failure twice while driving the vehicle. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
Complaint I was traveling southbound on Sunnybrook where it turns to W. Amherst around 9 o-??clock on Wednesday morning, November 23rd. I was prepared to slow down for the traffic light since I have been to that location so many times. My speed was between 30-35mph. Surprisingly, there was no resistance when I stepped on the brake. I released the brake and stepped on it again. It still didn-??t work. My car started sliding and wavering and it hit the right-side curb. It didn-??t stop after hitting the curb and I repeated the step-and-release action a couple of times. After the brake failed, I pulled up the parking brake and my car eventually stopped. The brake failed. Luckily, there was no car in the intersection while my car was out of control and sliding. I was in total shock and desperate fear. I was afraid I was going to crash or even worse situation. That extreme short time of emotional rollercoaster was super distressing and I don-??t feel safe driving after the accident. I felt even more horrified thinking what could have happened if there were other drivers or pedestrians involved. I was in tears and all shaking. There is a police report for the accident. The police office also stated that -?? was able to easily push the brake pedal to the floor-??. One more note is that my car past the state inspection on November 17th. My car was later towed to a Honda-certified body shop. The body shop technician also mentioned the brake didn-??t pass the test while diagnosing the car. Also, I asked for a copy of the diagnostic report which will be forthcoming as a hard copy. It was a terrifying accident putting my life and potentially other people-??s lives in danger. I hope that this report will bring awareness to Honda manufacturers and public safety agent. It should not happen to another driver.
Abs activated on icy road.brakes failed at next attempt to stop on dry road.no brake response at all. Had to go over curb on grass to avoid hitting car in front of me. No brake warning lights came on.scared to drive car. Have grandchildren I drive to school. Their safety and those of others concern me if this should occur again. I feel lucky that I did not hit a car, pole, or tree when I went over curb and into yard to stop.

My vehicle computer started indicating that there was a critical brake failure and other related safety issues, this started after a brake repair at Middletown Honda. I returned to the dealer and they indicated that it-??s the fuel injectors misfiring and need replacement. They also indicated that the spark plugs need replacement. I gave approval to replace the spark plugs and the vehicle ran well until I added fuel to the vehicle. then the problem returned. There-??s currently a recall on Honda models 2014-2016 for the fuel injectors and I want this vehicle year to be included. Thank you
On October 10, 2022 I had brake work done and the computer system starting indicating failures. The computer electrical system continues indicating major failures while driving and the messages indicate critical failures throughout the vehicle. The brake fluid was lower than normal and once filled the lights went out. Then on October 20, 2022 the computer began indicating problems once again.
2018 CRV repeatedly had emergency brake amber light go on in the center of the dashboard. It goes on for a few seconds then shuts back off. This has been happening intermittently for the last two months. It has happened in the past(years ago) but there is no documentation of that complaint. Took vehicle to Honda dealership last week. Initially could not find what was wrong. Finally after hours of running tests? It came down to one code and that the issue was the electronic brake booster. The vehicle stayed overnight. After paying a large sum of money, 5 days later, the light turned on amber on the dash again. I called Honda Service repeatedly but could not reach the Service personnel that had assisted me 5 days previously. Finally talked to another service manager last evening at 6:00 p.m. Bringing car in first thing Friday Morning October 21st. One service manager stated that she had not seen this problem before. There are a few incidences that can be found on the internet with what appear to be simple fixes i.e. low brake fluid, air in line, problem with software, problem with a line to the display and still others. The end all was the issue was treated as a safety issue by one, while another person stated something alluding to if it was a serious safety issue the warning light on the dash would have been red and not amber. In addition, yesterday when the light came on.(after the problem was purportedly repaired) I was doing about 40. There was a brief pause/resistance to the brake as I was slowing. This happened on a main thoroughfare at 0915 a.m. None of this has made ANY sense and I stated as such.
Toda la seguridad relacioada al sistema de frenos y la emisión de gases es un problema persistente en el panel del vehículo. Al parecer es un problema común de éstos vehículos según las reseñas que he escuchado y leído de por parte de otros propietarios de éstos vehículos.
Emergency Braking system is activated while the car is on road in 30+ miles speed and the car lost it control. Managed to stop it after driving a car for almost a mile long and then applying the break with hard attempt. This happened twice one around 10:30 PM on Jul 29th, 2022 and the subsequent day when I try to pull my car out of drive way. I decided to call my insurance for towing the car and sent it to my regular service provider Battison Honda, (Address) 8700 Northwest Expy, Oklahoma City, OK 73162.
My Honda CRV has experienced "phantom braking" four times now. In each case the automatic emergency braking system activated while I was driving, even though there was no other car or object in my car's path. On two of the occasions, the BRAKE warning appeared but the break system did not engage. More concerning was the other two times when the BRAKE warning appeared and the car actually started to brake for a moment. One of these times, I was on the freeway; it was very disconcerting and potentially dangerous. I mentioned this to the Honda dealer when my car was in for maintenance. They said they had never heard of this issue before. Additionally they said unless they could re-create the issue, there was nothing they could do.
7/8/22: Driving at 20-25mph in a residential neighborhood, no cars were in front of me, the car beeped, the dashboard BRAKE light came on and the car did a hard brake. I did not press on my brakes and there was nothing in front of me to trigger the emergency brakes. Fortunately, nothing was behind me. If something was behind me, I would have most likely been rear ended and my 12 and 13 year old as well as myself would have been injured. My car was inspected on 5/3/22 and as part of that inspection new brakes were installed. Right after the incident, the Maintenance light came on with code B. I already have an appointment scheduled for 8/10 to have the turn signal and brake light fixed. I immediately called to see if I could move up the appointment but they didn-??t have any earlier openings. They suggested I just take it to the service center if it occurred again. 7/10/22: About 10 minutes after leaving home, driving about 20-25mph nothing in front of me or behind me, the car beeped, the dashboard BRAKE light came on and the car did a hard brake. AGAIN, no reason for the car-??s emergency brake system to engage. I will be taking it to the service center on Monday. I am now afraid to drive this car or take it on any highways or major routes.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while the vehicle was in park(P) and attempting to shift into reverse(R), the gear was difficult to move. The contact stated that the brake warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to start the vehicle but accidentally drove onto the sidewalk. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle with a defective rearview mirror wiring harness. The dealer replaced the wiring harness. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,500.
Was driving my 2018 Honda CRV at about 50 mph notice car ahead stopped about 8 car lengths tap brake to slow down brake light start flashing and would not slow down seat belts locked 84 year old mother and myself almost thrown thur windshield and came within inches of of rear ending a stopped truck.
Driving at freeway speeds with nothing in my path, the automatic braking system engaged with flashing lights, beeping and sudden braking. There was no other vehicle in front of me in line of sight.
In early April 2022 the Body Control Module went bad. A replacement was ordered, and is still unavailable (Honda PN: 38809-TMM-A21). This rendered the car unable to be started, unless the battery was first disconnected and then reconnected (as advised by Honda Service). However, this results in several error lights, including emergency braking, hill start assist, lane keeping assist, collision warning systems, blind spot systems, as well as non-driving systems like operation of the windows, and the associated symptom of these systems working intermittently, or not at all. Honda still has not provided a reliable estimate for the part to be made available, despite escalating the situation to their corporate level. I am aware of other Honda models of the same year having BCM (Body Control Module) issues and a recall being current and active.
Approximately 10 times over the past 3 years the Automatic Braking System has engaged the brakes inappropriately. Half of these episodes occurred when no other vehicles were around my vehicle. The others occurred when other vehicles were next to mine but not in front of mine. The most recent episode occurred as I was driving in the right lane on a 3-lane road with no one in front of me. I approached a red light and slowed but the light turned green ahead of me so I continued. As I passed some of the cars that were going about 10mph slower than me, as they had left the light from a complete stop, the car slammed on the brakes and my car came to an almost complete stop in the road. My tires screeched and my children and I were thrown forward due to the violent braking. Cars behind me had to change their trajectory quickly to avoid hitting me. I have taken my car into the dealership on several occasions and asked for this system to be disabled but they said that there was no way to do that without causing damage to other systems. There is a button on the lower left of the steering wheel, not an obvious place, that will disable the system when held down but this is something that has to happen every time I get in the car. There are no lights or reminders that the system is on so it is difficult to remember every time. The safety of me and my passengers as well as everyone on the road around us is at risk every time I drive the car. There were no commonalities to these episodes so there is no rhyme or reason as to when this will happen. Although I would like the dealer to be able to replicate the problem, this entails putting them and the public at risk. I would welcome anyone who would like to inspect the car to ascertain a cause.
While driving on a residential street at approximately 25 Mph with no traffic, my 2018 Honda CRV-EX activated a Stage 3 Collision Mitigation Braking System event. The car came to a sudden, complete stop throwing loose items out of the seats. Honda says if the CMBS system determines that a collision is unavoidable, it will continue the visual and audible alerts, and apply strong braking to help mitigate the forces of the collision. This sudden stop could have caused an accident if another car had been following closely behind.
