CarComplaints.com Notes: It's rare when a newer vehicle has defect trends, & the 2017 Honda CR-V has at least two — overfilled oil levels with a gas smell, & heat not working.
Both problems affecting the Honda CR-V's 1.5L "Earth Dreams" engine appear to be related to cold-climate regions.
CR-V owners also report no heat even after warming up their CR-Vs for 30 minutes — not even enough to defrost the windshield. So far, there has been no fix from Honda for this issue.

I occasionally noticed the smell of gasoline around the car. When I checked the oil level it was about 1/4 in. Above the full mark on the dipstick. I took the car to the dealer (scott Honda of West chester) where they confirmed the high oil level and noted the smell of gasoline in the oil. I was told this is a known problem with the turbo engine but Honda did not have a fix available. The dealer called Honda America and was authorized to change the oil under warranty.
Crankcase is filling with gasoline from the cylinders causing a high level on the oil dipstick (approx.1/2 inch above the high mark) also known as oil dilution.oil had no viscosity when I changed it and it reaked of gasoline.two different Honda dealers and american Honda customer service all acknowledged that there aware of the issue but they haven't come up with a remedy yet.meanwhile my vehicles engine and I am sure thousands more are being prematurely abused and worn because of gasoline (solvent) in the oil.Honda needs to make this right and soon!
I discovered fuel in the oil of my 2017 turbo Honda cr V when checking the oil level. I have approximately 2500 miles since my last oil change. I took the car to beaverton Honda on 11/16/2018 to check it out. They "verified customer's concerns of fuel in engine oil." They also "adjusted oil level" and then referred me to a Honda video on youtube. It would appear that they simply removed good oil to make room for more gas in the oil. This is unacceptable and dangerous.. apparently, Honda does not have a fix for this issue.
On 10-11-18 I received an email from consumer reports which included an article about issues with Honda's 1.5 turbo engines. I had recently been noticing engine response lag, on my 2017 CRV touring, so I went out and checked my oil level. I immediately noticed a fuel smell on the dip stick. The oil level was approximately 1 inch over the top mark. (till now I had not noticed an issue when checking oil level periodically since my 6-19-2018 oil change). I called the service dept. At my Honda dealership and was scheduled for an appointment on 10/18/2018. They scheduled me for an oil change. When I arrived for the appointment the service rep. Said he had just talked to their Honda rep. Who confirmed the issue and was told that a fix was to be rolled out in November 2018. I have been checking the oil level periodically since the October service and it has been creeping up regularly. As of 11-16-18 the oil level is again above the orange plastic piece that contains the high/low markings. I am very concerned about short and long-term damage to the engine and overall safety. This is our 7th new Honda and was expecting this to be our travel vehicle for many years.

Oil level was noticeably higher and had a fuel smell to it. We did take it to the dealership they said there no fix for it as of now but to change my oil more often.
I have been noticing a fuel smell in the passenger cabin. It seems to be a major issue. I have been told from the dealer to change the oil and let the car warm up longer. That's the fix. Come on Honda. This is ridiculous. You NHTSA need to make sure Honda is held totally responsible.
Check engine light comes on after putting gas in (fueling) hesitation while driving, vehicle has less than 15,000 miles, have taken vehicle to dealer several times, explained what was going on, they insist the codes read O2 sensor and seal, still not fixed.
While driving my 2017 Honda CR-V ex-L on highway (the trip was about 10 hours), about half way of my trip, I could not reach the speed to 55mph with speed limit of 70mph. My odometer was reading around 30000mi. About two months later (just two weeks ago) I took another 2 hour one way trip, similar thing happened to me again on my way back (I could only drive at about 60mph with speed limit of 70mph). I raised the issue with local Honda dealer and they told me to schedule an appointment. I will see what they are going to tell me about the diagnostic checkup. In addition to above possible engine/power/fuel related issues, I had two incidents of dead battery without doing anything after stopping my car. One time (summer 2018) I drove to my son's private teacher's house and parked outside. After the lesson I couldn't start my car. It took 4 hours for Honda roadside assistance to come and found out the battery was dead. After the gentleman jump started my car it was driving fine. In September 2018 I did my oil change, the dealer's exam showed battery life good. Then just about 4 weeks ago in October 2018, my car parked in my garage and it couldn't start again. The roadside assistance found out the battery was dead and no battery life. Honda dealer replaced the battery for me.
I've got 21000 miles on this car which I bought brand new. It's been to the dealership at least four times for the following: All warning lights come on the first time it happened I couldn't release the electronic parking brake. I was told oil was mixing with gas and that Honda has a fix 'coming soon' I'm afraid to drive this car. The car was stationary each time
Vehicle loses power under acceleration. Oil dilution seems to be the aparent cause. Oil level is way above the 'max' level in the oil dipstick. Strong gas smell in the cabin. Problem is widespread among owners of this vehicle (1.5 turbo engine). Honda says 'it's normal', but then promises that 'problem is going to be fixed in next year model'.
I got engin lights on my car and went to the dealership to know what happened with the car. The dealer just ignore the problem and remove the lights from the the dash. I went to dealership 1 several times for that problem and evry time he did the same thing. That time I had the warranty on my vehicle but as soo as I went over with the warranty, they want to fix it. They gave estimated of $1200-1500. They said I have to change radar sensor. Then I went to the second dealership and they said completely differently thing (4 clyender needed to change). Then I went to the third dealership and they said my car fuel system has some problems. Then I went to the out side shop they notified me that your car has manufacture problem. Now my vehicle has engine light and gas mileage went down.
2017 Honda CRV with 1.5 L turbo 4 cylinder engine. Health hazard: Noted gasoline fumes in cabin after starting the car. The fumes are coming in through the ventilation system. Happening in both cold and hot weather. Car has 30K miles on it. Fumes noticed when car is stationary after starting it. Also found to have gas entering oil pan, diluting the oil, and causing high oil levels. Similar reports from many other owners of this vehicle with this engine and apparently a major recall in china for the problem. Am concerned about hydrocarbon levels in the passenger cabin which can be a major health hazard. Just because the fumes dissipate after a minute or so does not necessarily mean that the hydrocarbon levels in the cabin are normal for the rest of the ride. Other major concern is premature wear on the engine due to gas mixing with oil. Another concern is reports of crvs with this problem stalling at high speeds and failing to accelerate properly. Honda usa has not addressed the problem as of this date nor have they offered any solutions. I feel like I wasted over $30K on a vehicle that is now unsafe and destined to premature engine failure. I think there needs to be a recall to fix this problem.
Oil crank case is too high due to excess fuel in oil. This causes fuel smell in cabin and stalling of the engine. But more importantly, the engine will suffer from premature engine wear and failure due to lack of lubrication. This is not a cold weather issue as my dilution need happened in the summer and I only do highway driving with long duration. Honda refuses to fix the problem.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. the contact noticed an abnormal fuel odor inside the vehicle during short road trips. There were no warning indicators illuminated. Additionally, the tail pipe was rusted. The vehicle was taken to russell & smith Honda (2900 S loop w, houston, tx 77054, (713) 481-3063) where it was diagnosed that fuel was in the oil and the rust was normal. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 5,000.
Engine oil overfilled. Car has stalled on occasion. Vehicle safety features (Honda sensing) failed completely while driving in bad weather...snow and rain.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. the contact stated that fuel was mixing into the engine oil. The contact became aware by local media that the Honda vehicles was having fuel mixing into the engine oil. Therefore, the contact checked the engine dipstick and noticed that the vehicle dipstick emitted a strong fuel odor. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer. The dealer replaced the engine oil twice. However, the failure was not corrected the contact checked the engine dipstick and found that the dipstick was still emitting a strong fuel odor. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The manufacturer provided the contact with case number: 09036858 and advised the contact that he would receive a notice when they had a remedy for the failure. The failure mileage was 8,000.
I purchased my car from brown's Honda 712 crain highway, glen burnie, md 21061 on June 20,2017. On October 6, 2018 ibecame aware of a very serious problem with my car that has the new 1.5 L turbocharged engine. I noticed that the oil level, as shown on the dip stick, was at least 0.5 inches above the top fill mark. I immediately drained the oil and discovered that the volume of oil was 4.75 quarts or 28% above the car's specification of 3.7 quarts. The drained oil was very black in color and to the touch felt less viscous than new 0-20 oil. It appears that the increased volume is due to gasoline mixing with the oil. On Oct 6,2018 (current odometer reading11467 miles) the oil had run in the engine for about 5400 miles. My first oil change at the dealer was at 6000 miles on 4/16/2018. As you are aware, dilutionof the oil with gasoline is a serious problem that will inevitably lead to premature engine failure and operability/safety problems in the future such as stalling. I visited the brown's Honda dealership today 10/8/2018 and explained the issue stated above. The service director, advised me to keep checking the oil level and come back if any running issues occur. The dealer isunable to correct the issue of gasoline leaking into the oil.this problem substantially impairs the future value of my car and potentially it's safety. Gasoline in the engine oil will lead to premature engine failure.
Oil dilution. Strong gas smell in the cabin and coming from the exhaust system in cold morning start. Oil level is higher and above the max line on the dip stick.
