I was notified of a recall on my Honda CRV of door locks malfunctioning. They were working fine, but recall notice
stated to have repaired regardless. I did. Now the locks go on and off by themselves and the rear passenger door will not lock at all. It's scary. I don't think Honda service department can figure it out. Now what?
WHEN DOOR LOCKS IT MAKES THIS LOUD, LOUD GRINDING SOUND THAT EVERYBODY WITHIN HEARING DISTANCE TAKES A GLANCE WHERE IT IS COMING FROM. THOSE WITHIN CLOSE DISTANCE GET JOLTED.
This is a persisting problem that just surfaced one fine day. No other issues with the car, just this highly annoying door lock issue that the door gets unlocked itself and keeps toggling between lock & unlock during the operation of the vehicle.
My passenger door on the drivers side will not lock anymore and every time I go above 20 mph it tries to lock. When I go below 20 it does it again! When I lock the car from the key remotely that for does not lock at all! Total safety and security hazard.
I'm curious, if there is a recall on this? If so, where do I sign to be on the class action lawsuit?
I'm disabled. I have a lift in the back for my scooter. I have to turn the car on so I don't drain the battery to use my lift. I was at a supermarket, I was in my scooter, I transferred everything: groceries, purse with my cell phone in the front passenger side of the car. At the same time, I turned the car on, closed the door and everything locked !!!
I had to borrow a phone,call AAA and the car is locked and the it's on !! AAA took 45 minutes to get there and it was raining and I was in a scooter !! And, it's not the first time- when I am getting in my car, loading stuff on one side of the car when I close the door, the car locks on its on--this has happened several times and I just make sure I have the car key but now…I leave a car door open while I turn the car on and take my scooter in and out. PAIN IN MY ASS and I don't want to go to the dealership and pay $$$ to get it fixed. And my clock is always fast.

The front passenger door lock on my 2007 Honda CRV will lock and unlock whenever it feels like it. I am a widow and my biggest fear is that someone can break into my car because of the locking issue. Also is a safety issue regarding carjacking. Honda knows about this problem yet they are doing nothing to correct it.
I inquired about the problem at the dealership and was told that it is because of our climate in Arizona being hot and dry. Poor excuse as far as I'm concerned. I thought they tested the vehicles for different weather conditions to assure the safety of the consumers. They immediately knew the problem was the actuator and said to repair the cost would be approximately $300 to $400. Honda has known about the actuator problem all along and refuse to issue any recalls for the repairs. I am very disappointed in Honda and would not recommend Honda to anyone at this point. Poor customer service by Honda and little concern for the safety of the consumer.
Went online to check recall list and was surprised to find our that the emblems with the door locking system wasn't just with my car. Had the driver's side door lock replaced in June, now the rear doors are locking and unlocking while I'm driving and the passenger side back door will not lock when the car is off.
My Honda CR-V EXL -- since 25 days I'm having this problem, my hatch door and right-rear Passenger door. I feel no power to my hatch door and my rear passenger door was not able to release the lock but trying to open but gets struck in between.
I just called deal(ia)er, they are asking $314 for diagnostics only, later more $$ added for repair.
I am disapointed in Honda. I have owned this car from 2006 purchased from Florida and have never received any notification of any recalls or class action suit. I should have been a part of that because my situation is annoying. I had a newborn in 2013 and was afraid of closing my door to open the rear door praying it won't lock.
I have to constantly press my remote key button to unlock the car when I have passengers. Even when I'm driving my car keeps unlocking and then locking itself. How can I be a part of this class action suit?
Power door lock on the driver side failed. It would not stay unlocked. As soon as you unlock the doors either with the remote or the power botton on the door, all doors would lock up. I took a chance guessing it was the driver side door actuator, and purchased one from the dealer for ~$100 and I got lucky. I followed some YouTube video on the internet for the replacement of the door actuator. I saw other people with the door actuator problems on other doors, I am worried and don't know when mine would fail.
By the way I also add my case on the ongoing investigation by a New Jersey law firm. Hope to get reimbursed some day.
Noticed that locks had started locking and unlocking while vehicle is in motion. Seems to lock as vehicle is accelerating and then unlock when vehicle is decelerating. When vehicle is shut down, the front passingers' door will not stay locked. Sometimes appears locked, but when attempt made to enter on second try, door is now unlocked. When interior and/or remote is used to lock, front passenger door, it unlocks itself!
Cannot manually lock either. Same result of unlocking itself. BIG safety and security problem. Honda needs to look into this and do a recall.
I have a problem with the door locks on my 2007 CRV. I agree it is a safety issue and needs to be addressed. I contacted the Honda dealership where purchased the vehicle new and they did not acknowledge a known problem with the door locks. I have just under 50,000 miles and I suspect this has been going on for some time. I reviewed the manual and cannot program the locks and cannot remedy the problem on my own.
The front passenger lock will not stay locked. I brought the vehicle into the mechanic who usually works on my vehicle and he could not identify the problem -- the door lock worked then. But then on the same day -- same problem. Is Honda going to wait until someone is car-jacked? I have a few other issues with the vehicle and will not purchase another Honda.
My door locks started to act up in May of 2014. First they would unlock when the car was in park. then before anyone could exit the car the doors would lock again. This happened for a few days. then would go away for a few weeks. then it would start up again, locking and unlocking.
From the driving door I would unlock the back trunk, then before I would walk around the car the doors would lock again. After putting up with this problem for 3 months, the noise got louder as the locks did their own thing. locking and unlocking, I went to the Honda dealership in Simi valley and they said all four doors needed replacement locks at a cost of $1149.67. Now I have 12 months warranty or 12,000 miles, my mileage is 44119 miles.
Several days ago I noticed while driving that it sounded as if all my door locks were locking and unlocking as I accelerated and when I slowed down. When I arrived home I got out of the car but was unable to shut the drivers side door. I used my key in the lock and was eventually able to get the door closed. Now my doors are staying locked even when the car is in park and the ignition is off. I thought that I would have to roll down my window to get out of the car! I discovered that if I have my hand on the door handle and push the unlock button on my key I have about half a second to open the door before it locks again! And today the alarm went off when I was doing this! I called the Honda dealer and they acted like they have never heard of this problem. This is really a safety issue. Before this I loved my CRV, now I'm afraid I will be stuck in or out of my car everytime I drive it.
Just purchased this CR-V in January of 2014 as a second vehicle. Next day I put my Grandson in his carseat, doors are locked and guess what??? He reaches down and opened the passenger door while we are driving down the road! Then I realized the rear passenger door will not lock at all plus the door locks randomly lock and unlock at their own will! I wish I would have known about this site before I paid for the CR-V!
I have a Honda CRV-2007. I never thought I would say this in my life. I am afraid to get into my car and not be able to get out of it!!!! So weird! When I came home today, my kids tried to get out using the back doors. One of them was not opening at all. You can try to open it with the automatic key or even using your own hands. The doors on the left hand side of the back passenger door will not open! The trunk will not open either. It is frozen. I am really afraid of going somewhere and get stuck in the car. I can already see myself trying to break a window.I never imagine that could happen. BTW, it is the second problem we are experiencing with our CRV. We had the "automatic door lock system" fixed before because it would make an awful sound when locking and unlocking. That was already past 600 dollars if I remember well. what happened to HONDA???? Used ot be quality cars
This was the first of many problems to come. I went to the Honda dealership and they just laughed at me. I told him, "l will buy a new car before I pay out of pocket expenses for faulty door locks". Now every time I give somebody new a ride they asked me what is that loud noise? I tell them 'Oh, that's just my faulty door locks, let me just turn the radio up'. I used to love Honda.
