I have a 2009 Honda Accord ex-L V6 which I bought new in August of 2008. I noticed when driving down the road that a metallic scraping sound was coming from the brakes that went away when I applied the brake pedal. I took the car to the Honda dealer who said that the rear brake pads were worn and that they had been grinding into the rear rotors. There were 31,480 miles on the car as I drive mostly highway. The cost for new rear pads, rotors, and labor was $522. The class action lawsuit only pays out $150. This is extremely unfair and this defect should force a recall with full reimbursement by Honda.

Premature wear and warping of brake rotors. Noticed rotors required resurfacing due to vibration during braking. Dealership turned rotors, drove vehicle for approximately 700 miles, and the problem recurred. Returned to dealership and all rotors were replaced under warranty. Pads were also replaced with merely 7000 miles. Dealership stated that the life expectancy of brake pads for this vehicle was about 10,000 miles. I find that to be absurd, typically brake pads will last 20K-30K miles. There appears to be a flaw in the materials used to manufacture the pads, in the manufacturing process, or perhaps the brake assembly is inappropriate for this vehicle weight, causing the rotor to over temp and warp if not capable to dissipate the excess heat. This vehicle has been driven in extremely normal driving conditions, primarily highway driving, and had not experienced a hard braking event to that point that may have contributed to this failure.

On July 16th I left my 2009 Honda Accord in to my trusted mechanic for my annual New York state safety inspection with instructions to fix anything he finds wrong in order to meet the requirements, so when I returned from out of town, I could pick it up and it would be legal and safe. I was quite surprised to find that the rear brakes were worn to the point where new pads were needed for it to pass, which he replaced as directed. Since it only has 23,400 miles on it, a lot of that highway driving, I called Honda and found that there is a class action lawsuit for this very problem, although I was never notified. When I looked on the suggested website, accordsettlement.com, I read where you had to have had the brakes replaced with Honda brake pads in order to receive compensation for the premature wear, although I cannot imagine anyone wanting to replace with another bad set of pads and have this reoccur. Somehow, someone should direct other Accord (08 & 09) to this website so that they can be sure to know the conditions that must be met to satisfy Honda's requirements for such compensation.

2009 Honda Accord- the car had 200 miles on it and the cvb boot with all the brake fluid broke making the car unsafe to drive. Had to argue to dealer to get it fixed. The car now has 11,900 miles and the brakes squeal, took to the dealer informed half of the rear brakes are gone and that the squealing canbe from the weather. This was suppose to be a new car. There is a class action suit against Honda due to the brakes wearing out prematurely but the consumer has to pay first to have them repaired. Someone needs to look into the safety of Honda Accord braking system for 2008 and 2009 models.

I had revived a class action letter informing me of this but see it as a clear safety violation on Honda's part one as they had know there was an issue with this type of model and two as they refuse to perform work and replace the item with issues under warranty. The consumer is being ripped off, and the NHTSA should step in and rectify this.
