At about 20,000, our 2009 Honda Accord (V6) started having rear brake noises. We took it to the West covina dealership and they said the rear pads were worn and needed replacing. I said that is very premature to have rear pads wear out so soon and they said it is normal and would not consider any warranty replacement or discount as it was normal wear and tear. We took it to our local independent shop and had them replaced. Strange that it was both inner pads that had worn out--the outers had about 50% life left.

We own a 2009 Accord with 24,000 miles. At our first oil change, my husband asked the Honda annapolis dealer about a card we had received regarding a brake pad class-action lawsuit. The dealer said not to worry about it; if there is a problem they will take care of it for free. Our brakes are now making a lot of noise and the pads need to be replaced. My husband stopped in and talked to the same person in the dealership, [xxx], who said the repair would cost $230, and we would be reimbursed through the class-action. He did not mention that the reimbursement is $150 at best. So this is the second time we have been given misinformation by this Honda dealership. I called Honda annapolis and spoke to the service manager, [xxx], whose attitude is best summed up by his statement, "I don't want to get involved." He said that the customers and lawyers caused this problem by bringing a lawsuit. He also stated, "we don't make the cars here, " and suggested that we take the car somewhere else. Although my husband had just spoken to [xxx] in person, who then spoke to [xxx], he acted as though he had no idea what I was talking about. In researching this issue, I see that many consumers are complaining that the replacement pads also wear out prematurely and cause other damage. What a disgrace. I contacted the class-action law firms and got a call from someone at gibbs. She said it has to be an upgraded replacement part in order to be reimbursed; the part costs $66 and with labor the charge should be around $150. I asked how it is that Honda can charge $230; she said they can't monitor that. Good business sense, as well as common decency, dictates that Honda caused this problem and should pay in full to resolve it. Honda dealers should be authorized to make these repairs, at no charge to consumers, and apply for reimbursement themselves. I want to add my name to the list of people with defective brakes on their 2009 Accord. My brakes started squeaking like mad at about 17000 miles. It is unbelievable to me that Honda would not issue a recall, knowing that their rear brake pads are defective. They acknowledge this fact by making a replacement pad different from the original pad. To charge customers any amount of money for their defective product in simply unthinkable on Honda's part.

The contact owns a 2009 Honda Accord. While driving approximately 60 mph she engaged the brakes and the vehicle began to vibrate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for routine maintenance and she advised them of the problems with the brakes. The dealer did not mention anything about the brakes nor did she ask them for any information regarding them. Within a few months the vehicle was taken to the dealer to service the regulator and they suggested that she replace the rear brake pads. The dealer advised her that she had to pay for the repairs and request reimbursement. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair cost. She notified the manufacturer and filed a complaint with them. The approximate failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 17,160.

2009 Honda Accord. Consumer states that she and her husband had to pay to get brake repair work done. She would like to know why the lawsuit is only going to pay back a portion. Brakes were squeaking within the first six months but we were told nothing was wrong when taken in for regular warranty-covered checks. Started noticeable shimming when brakes were applied and took in for check at 39,000 miles. Ended up replacing rotors, brakes and rear bearing. The rear bearing alone cost $198. All in all, our bill came to $667.73. We've taken the car in to the dealer for repair of carpet pulling away in front passenger side; vibration noise on back dashboard (or whatever you'd call the shelf behind passenger seats); driver door handle stick problem, steering wheel clicking noise. Purchased Honda after being recommended by so many satisfied customers/friends. Invested more then we planned but thought it was worth the investment; disappointed in quality of parts and repair work.

I own a 2009 Honda Accord. At around 25000 miles I heard a noise from the rear wheels. The Honda dealer where I had purchased the car told me my brakes needed to be replaced. I stated there must be some defect in the vehicle or brakes because the brakes should not need replacing that soon and the rear brakes should never need to be replaced before the front brakes. They said it was normal wear and charged me the full price of more than $250 for replacement. They admitted the new brake pads were "a longer lasting material". I was not aware of the well-documented deficiency in 2008-2009 Accord brakes at the time and the dealer did not mention the issue nor offer any discounts.

A couple months later I took my car in for a normal maintenance at 21000 miles and said my back brakes needed replaced. Now I am stuck paying $250 for back brakes on a year and ahalf old Accord. Even though Honda will give me up to $150 back. I think that they should recall the vehicle and pay for the full price. 2009 Honda Accord 4 cylinder, 30K miles, first owner passing a large truck on highway 80, California, East bound, near green valley road exit, approaching fairfield on September 28 at 2:30pm. Accelerator got stuck and car continued to accelerate to dangers speeds in excess of 70mph. I had to press on the brake pedal as hard as I could to maintain control. Then I shifted the car into neutral. The engine revved very high. I made sure my foot was only on the brake pedal. With in about 10 seconds the car stopped revving, but now my brake rotor are warped. I made sure my floor mat was out of the way. I have contacted the dealer. They have never heard of this problem. I had this same problem happen with my Honda Odyssey.
