Defective dashboards installed by GM create a safety hazard. Cracks occurred on drivers side (hump above steering wheel) and cracks in dash on both sides of airbag. If airbag deploys cracked pieces of dash could cause harm to driver and passengers in vehicle. GM is aware of this well known problem/defect and it is very widespread with thousands or more GM customers having the same issue yet GM refuses to replace defective dash for customers which is ultimately putting GM customers and their passengers in danger.

I have consulted with many others who have experienced this issue as well. General Motors fails to acknowledge that there's a quality concern or that there's a potential safety concern with these vehicles. This not only affects GMC Yukon, but Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban as well. The dash board is made of hard but brittle plastic. The dash boards tend to crack over time, especially near the passenger air bag opening, leaving sharp "dagger like" pieces of dash board material loose. In the event of an airbag deployment, there's a risk of these pieces being propelled by the air bag and injuring occupants of the vehicle. I've heard of this affecting vehicles from as little as 1 year old. General Motors has refused to acknowledge the issue and has blatantly stated that if it were a safety problem, "the government would do something about it". any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

There is a crack in my dash on the left corner of the passenger airbag and another one on the left side of the steering wheel hump. These cracks cause the dash to rattle and vibrate a lot while the vehicle is being driven, which is very distracting and they also leave exposed, sharp edges. I am concerned that the crack could compromise the airbags functions. We have only owned this vehicle for 6 months. There were no cracks when we purchased it. The vehicle was in very good condition. After we noticed the cracks on Sunday, I started researching how to fix the problem. Our local GM dealership was not very helpful. I contacted GM directly and they are not willing to replace the dash. I looked online and found numerous people who have the exact same problem in their 07 Yukon and Tahoe. It seems to be a trend! I found a site where others have posted their problems and the results they got from GM. Several people have been fortunate enough to get the dash replaced for free of charge. I was not that lucky. I feel that this issue needs to be looked into further. I do not feel that I should have to pay to replace a defect that so many vehicles have. Please help me! thank you!

There is a significant crack in the dash connecting the air bag component to the body. The first crack was found back in February and now there are 2 more cracks - one more on the air bag connection and one above the cluster dome. My fear is that if the airbag is to deploy, the sharp edges resulting from the defective dash would result in significant injury even if it is a minor crash. I believe this is a huge safety issue.

Traveling at night, at 65 miles an hour in a 2007 Yukon sle2 4 dr wagon, I hit a steer (approximately 880lbs). Upon impact, the bottom of my power driver's seat moved forward and the back of the seat tilted forward, causing me to hit the steering wheel. I had to move the seat back to get out of the vehicle. The airbags did not deploy. I reported the incident to the dealer, and my insurance agent both verbally and in writing. The vehicle had over $11,000 worth of damage, but the repair center stated they were unable to find any damage to the seat. I traded the vehicle in, as I did not feel safe driving it with the seat not being replaced or repaired. The vehicle is now for sale again, and I am fearful that someone else will be in a wreck and the seat will malfunction again.
