Headlights are very dim, hard to see at night especially when it is raining. Must use fog lamps at all times to be able to improve vision. Contacted GM and dealer about issue, have claim number. They say truck is no longer under warranty to do anything.
Night time vision is compromised due to poor headlight illumination, most notable in areas of low ambient lighting or rain. This has been present since purchased new. Truck headlight bulbs were updated under General Motors service bulletin pit5374B at local GMC dealer where vehicle was purchased. Charge for this update was $149.21. While I do not hold the dealer responsible for this charge, I do feel the substandard lights should be considered a mandatory safety issue and dealt with as such
Headlight quality headlight quality is very poor, side lighting and distance lighting are terrible. GM issued a tsb but no recall for people who complained about the headlights.I purchased at 37K so am beyond the 3yr/36K. I am looking into after market fixes for the problem. I was told the problem was fixed in the 2016 models.
Unsafe head lights and the supposed updated headlight are only good for 12 months or 12,000 miles.. the replacements have both burned out already at $50 each.
Headlights are inadequate on high or low beams. It seems that the light is focused into two narrow beams in an effort to make up for the low lumen level of the led bulbs. These narrow beams don't light up enough of what is in front of you for night driving. I have to use my fog lamps to turn onto streets without street lights on the corner. The recirculating switch for the ventilation system will not even reduce the amount of outside air coming into the cabin, much less occlude it. Not good in 5 O:clock traffic or when your behind a diesel burner. The dealership acts like they are clueless and say everything is working as it should. After reading this form with so many headlight complaints, I asked if they had ever gotten any complaints like mine and they denied that they ever have; and they did it with a straight face!

Poor quality headlights, very difficult to not "over drive" the projected range of headlights. In reality, you should probably never drive over 35 mph after dark. It is impossible to see anything in the rain.
Loss of power steering assist, steering wheel jerks or kicks back when turning, messages with warning chime appear on instrument panel which also goes blank or inoperative, engine stalls and dies. This happens while vehicle is in motion on city street or hwy I10 (in bumper to bumper traffic) and when turning or backing up into a parking spot. This has happened before but more recently lately (at least once a day since 9/16 -9/18/2017)
As well as having very poor visability, the haedlight bulbs on my truck have blown out 5 times in only two years. There is obviuosly something wrong with something besides the bulbs.I am going broke replacing them. I called the dealer and was told that it would cost me $115 an hour just to look at the truck. I would rather give the truck back, than pay to have a problam that is obviously a manufacturing defect, fixed. The lights have went out both while moving, and stationary.
The headlights do not illuminate the road properly. You cannot see left or right, only straight ahead. Also the brightness is very low. Dangerous to drive at night.
Head lights are so bad it's dangerous driving at night with the low beams. The internal head light shutter creates a distinct line with total darkness above. While taking a turn you have no light to the side at all! you easily out drive the head lights with only the low beam. Been in the dealer several times. This is a design flaw. No good after market fix!
When driving in rural areas at night headlights only illuminate out about 100 feet in front of the vehicle creating a black line with almost no visibility above the line and extremely limited side visibility which creates a significant problem when turning in either direction at an intersection and makes it difficult to spot animals, pedestrians or bicyclists.
GMC upgraded the headlamps as a "fix" for the extremely poor side and forward illumination by the vehicle. The "fix" is still such a poor excuse for headlamp illumination that we keep from driving the vehicle at night as a "safety" reason. The poor performance continues and the dealership has exhausted what GMC/GM is willing to do and is not the dealerships problem but GM's. I would send a photo of the poor headlight performance but you can't see it as it was on a rainy night and the headlamps then are even worse. What a poor excuse for a fix. GMC/GM fixed the issues in the 2016 and 2017 but due to the cost of reworking the trucks they sold in 2014 and 2015 they hide behind the sorry fix they make the dealers try to make the customers go away.
I own a 2015 GMC Sierra. I believe the headlights are too dim. A few days after purchasing my truck new off the lot I missed turning on my street (that I have lived on for 3 years) because I was not able to see the sign or the road properly. I ended up in my neighbor's ditch. Luckily there was no damage, but I don't feel safe driving at night on familiar roads due to the insufficient amount light the headlights produce. This occurred while driving after dark on a residential road with 35 mph speed limits. There was not any additional street lighting around to provide supplemental lighting.
Head lights are dim both high and low beam.in traffic at night in the rain on the highway can not see lanes.side vision there is none.on hilly back roads vision is limited.low beam you go in a dip lights are in the ground going up other side lights are in the trees. High beams are in the tree tops.only 1 bulb adjust is limited.
Can't drive at night very poor visibility is so danger driving over freeway at night the rod disappear because the low bean can't illumine the rod now all the time I have to drive with hig bean but still not enough light and illumination to be Focus on the rod is vey danger driving this truck with this truck factory problem
The headlights are very dim and dangerous in this vehicle. Very difficult to see at night and dangerous when raining. It's been like this from when I bought it. Lighting should be better on a $50K truck.
The headlights in this vehicle are unsafe. The are dim and only project out a short distance and very little to the periphery. There is also a dark line in the field of view where above it is dark and below is dull light. I have contacted my local GM dealership and the solution was to upgrade the light bulbs which they did. The problem still exists. I escalated it to GM customer service and they tell me there is nothing they can do. This is a very unsafe condition.
