The contact owns a 2007 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that the fuel gauge failed to display an accurate fuel level reading after dispensing fuel into the fuel tank. The failure progressed over a period of time and eventually the fuel gauge became inoperable. The dealer and manufacturer were notified and stated that the failure was related to the fuel tank senor. Erratic fuel gauge behavior 2007 GMC Envoy. Gauge works correctly from 1/2 tank to full tank only - immediately drops to empty after going below 1/2 tank. Shows correct level when first being started up - then immediately sinks to empty upon driving.
Faulty gas gauge on my 2007 GMC Envoy. Does not show right amount of gas in tank. I have ran out of gas 3 times in the past 2 months. I've tried to keep track of gas by mileage, but that gets tricky.

When the fuel tank was empty, the fuel gauge would display a reading of half full or full. The contact made an appointment to have the vehicle inspected. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 50,000.
I have a 2007 GMC Envoy and the fuel sending unit is malfunctioning. Yesterday I had to walk to a gas station because I ran out of gas even though the gas gauge still read a quarter tank. I am not the only one having this problem after doing a search on the internet.

I have a 2007 GMC Envoy and the gas gauge does not work. Initally, when I would fill up the tank it would work for at least a 100 miles; over time it has gotten to the point that the gauge never works and is always on empty. I have to monitor my mileage meter to know when I need to get gas.
Fuel tank light comes on and off constantly, gauge bounces back and forth. Occurs daily, several times per day. Changed gas cap, did not matter. Hazard and very difficult to judge amount of fuel. Should be a recall! 2007 GMC Envoy with 28,000 miles.
GMC seems to have a problem with their fuel system, I contacted them when my gas guage started acting erractily, was told to take it to dealer and pay $100 for diagnosis, I said the problem is all over the internet, she said she wasnt aware. There are too many people having this problem for them to be saying they dont know it. My husband has cancer and he cannot take a chance driving this vehicle because of this problem, the only time you know it has gas in it is when you fill it up! please help us get this resolved, I have a GMC jimmy parked in the driveway that has the exact same problem!
Faulty fuel gauge. Will go to full then back to empty and stay at empty just after filling tank. Sometimes will go back over to full. Problem also causing obd to turn on check engine light. I have run out of fuel and have had vehicle come to stop in traffic. No warning of low fuel because of bad sensor. As per GM tech I spoke to, every GMC SUV has the same problem.
Fuel gauge reading is erratic and provides false information. As of 6/1/2011, the gauge bounces back and forth while driving between fuel low and full. Being told entire sending unit requires replacement and parts/labor cost is $750.
2007 GMC Envoy fuel gauge not registering correct amount. Swings erratically from full to empty regardless of amount of fuel in tank. This is apparently a common issue with these vehicles based on internet message boards with fuel sensor failure most commonly cited problem. There is a risk of running out of fuel without warning and creating a hazardous driving situation. Have seen on msn that NHTSA is investigating so am adding my complaint to the pile and asking that GM be required to recall these vehicles to correct this defect. I have not paid for sensor replacement at this time.
The fuel gauge frequently stops working or gives incorrect readings while driving. Initially this only occurred when the fuel tank was above 3/4 full but has since started happening regardless of fuel level in the tank. The gauge no longer provides accurate fuel level readings at any level. Due to the fact that my vehicle is no longer covered by the manufacturers warranty I have not pursued a repair. The repair is very expensive based on the many complaints I've found on the internet regarding this problem.
Fuel gage fails intermittently, can not tell how much fuel you have left. I try not to let it go much below half full for fear of running out of gas and stalling in trafic.
The fuel gage stays on empty with the low fuel indicator light illuminated once you fill the vehicle to full and then the check engine light comes on, after several hours the fuel gage will move to the full mark and the check engine light may or may not go out. Leaving you unsure with the amount of fuel you have in vehicle. This occurs even after shutting the vehicle off and on.
I was so happy to read online that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is finally checking into the problem with the fuel gauges on 2007 GMC Envoy. I started to have a problem just before my Envoy was 3 years old and about to go out of warranty. The first time that I had a problem it stalled when I stopped at a light after exiting I-95. The next day it stalled when I was coming off of I-95. I took it to the dealer and they said that the throttle mechanism needed to be cleaned. Had the service done and it still was stalling. Took it back to the dealer and they kept it for 3 days and said that because they could not find a code there was nothing they could do and it would be too costly for them to investigate further. The car continues to stall out just when my gas tank is getting low (1/4 of a tank or less). It seems to be okay when it is running at a high speed but when I slow down on an exit or come to a stop it stalls. Sometimes the engine will rev and then catch and sometimes it will stall out. Sometimes it just quietly quits --- nothing shows up on the dash - no lights or gauges show anything. I have noticed that my miles remaining is usually much lower after it stalls than before. I have filed a complaint with GM and I was made to feel like I was a fool. They insisted that there was nothing wrong and that they had no complaints. The dealer also treated me the same way. I have considered getting rid of the car but I basically like it and work around the problem by not letting the gas tank go below 1/4. I hope that your organization will be able to do something to help. It really is a very dangerous situation and could certainly result in a rear end collision. Plus I paid a lot of money and have a right to expect that when there is something wrong with a GMC product GMC would know how to fix it..
-fuel gauge was acting funny, would go from full to empty and not read the correct fuel level. - dealer stated that the gauge had gone bad and it was replaced under extended warranty, cost was covered less deductible.
