Vehicle when shift to park would indicate the shift was not in park. When I got the vehicle new is when it started. I have put up with it by pressing hard on the gear shift and checking it before turning the car off.
When the car is shifted into park, it often does not show that it is in park. It will roll, the lights will not go off, doors will not lock. To get it to work, you must restart the car and move the shifter in and out of the park position. While you are doing this the car will continue to roll with the brakes depressed. The service writer at the dealer stated that this is a common problem with this model. This has happened at least 10 times.
When you put the car into park the computer does not recognize that it is in park, you may have to restart and re-put the car back into park several times, also the light will not go off, the doors will not lock, the battery will run down and the car will roll. The vehicle was in a full parking lot.
When I put my car in park I get a warning that says my car is not in park action required. The vehicle bell continues to ding and will not allow me to lock the car. My fear is getting out the vehicle and it starting to roll not knowing if the vehicle is actually in park. This is very scary not knowing if it is safe to get out of the vehicle.
Began in Sept 2019 - when I park the car I would get a message saying "action required shift to park" even though it's shifted in park. I have had to shut the car on and off a few times before it goes away.

Park to shift issue where car will not go into park and you cannot turn off engine to leave vehicle without leaving car on or unlocked. This happens randomly when trying to park and secure vehicle. Has happened in garage where it has taken over 20 attempts to turn on and off car over and over filling garage with fumes trying to get car turned off in shift and then able to turn off car and lock.
Beginning in mid-October 2019, when I attempt to turn off my Acadia, I get a message that says, "action required. Shift to park". it will not allow me to turn my car off or exit the vehicle and lock it. In order to circumnavigate the error, I must turn my car back on, shift to drive, shift to park and turn my car back off. At the minimum, I must complete these steps three times to get my car to a spot where it will allow it to turn off. This only occurs when I am in park, attempting to exit my vehicle.
2017 GMC Acadia has 'shift to park' error for the last 6 mths. Will not acknowledge the car is in park and will not turn car off completely. It has caused other issues with the car like battery/car hesitating to start in the morning. Also the radio/bluetooth not disconnecting after turning car off. You have. This is a long process to get the car to realize it is in park. After turning car on and off, shifting car out of park and back into park. And also wiggling the shift gear. This after knowing it is an on hoing issue for well over a year is still not a recall and they still have not made a fix for this.
Shift to park error when car is correctly in park. This does not allow you to shut off your engine. I have had the shifter replace twice already at the dealership. I know it will happen again.
I have a 2017 Acadia. When the car is shifted into park, the dashboard shows a warning that says "shift to park" even though the car is already in park. I have to turn the car off and on several times and slam the shifter into park until the car finally registers that it's in park.. if I leave the car like that, all the electrical stuff stays on and my battery will die. Additionally, when this happens, the car is not in park and seems to be in gear or at least in neutral because it will roll. This is a safety hazard and happens on a daily occurrence.
When I turn my car off, I am getting a 'shift to park' error code even though the car is in park. If you ignore it, the car acts as if it is still on, lights and radio won't turn off. When I got my son out of his car seat the car started moving a little even though it was off and in park. You have to turn the car on and off multiple times and shift the car around to different settings until it just decides it's finally in park. This is dangerous and what happens if one day it just decides it won't go into park no matter how many times you try and apparently through research this is a known and common issue yet a recall has not been issued.
At times when shifting car from drive to park the car will not seat into park and provides a message shift to park. Car is in a stationary position but at times will not allow me to turn off power to car because of the shift to park issue.
My car will give me an alert when I put it in park that say's " shift to park" even though I have put it in park. Then the car will not shut off. I will try shifting it over and over to try to get it to engage so I can shut it off.
When you tried to turn off the car it says shift to park even though the car is already in park and it shows on the dashboard it's in park and so you cannot turn off the car and the car can roll at the time. You have to start the car on and off and then the horn goes off because the keys are in the car and you have to monkey around with the shift lever moving it back-and-forth pushing the button before it actually car shuts off and it goes into park. This is the GMC issue with their transmission or their computer no customer should have to pay for this fix. This should be especially paid for by GMC when somebody is leasing the vehicle.
Shift to park message appears.. it was fixed by GMC warranty repair over a year ago and now same problem is happening again... we have to wiggle the shiftetsnd push with force to put shifter in park position..
