The steering is suddenly very "loose". it was fine one day and dangerous to drive the next day. The car just turned 60,000 miles and we have owned it for 7 months. I am very upset and bummed that Ford won't fix it since it's not included in the recall, I want to document this, since I drive kids to school everyday down some roads that have lots of curves and tree's. if we crash, Ford will hear about this, I cannot believe they will let these cars wander down the road knowing it's a ticking time bomb. So sad Ford..

Many models and years of the Ford Taurus have been recalled due to failure of the power steering. My car is a 2013 Ford Taurus and some "batches" of the same model and year have had the recall. Mine is not included, however, twice in the past 3 months, the power steering has failed on me. The dealership says the fix is a new rack and pinion piece which costs $900 from Ford.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the 02 sensors failed and the fuel pump had a leak. Both components needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. While driving 75 mph on an interstate, I lost the power steering and was able to get the vehicle to the side of the road, a red warning message to service power steering now came on, at the same time turn signal would not work and traction control warning light came. Since it was the weekend and I was driving home for christmas I still drove the car home. I now have the car at dealership, and being told no recall on this car. But there is a recall on others for same issue. I don't have the cost yet but tried to call Ford customer service and they are close for the holiday. Wait to see what's next.
