The contact owns a 2013 Ford Taurus. While driving 35 mph and making a left turn, the vehicle started to decelerate and stalled without warning. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road, waited a few minutes, and was able to resume driving. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to verner cadby Ford (1240 bloomfield ave, fairfield, NJ 07004) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body, injection kit, and fuel kit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 16,600.

Taurus

  • 76,000 miles
Car was brought in to change the serpentine belt at 76,000 miles. Tech noticed that the water pump was leaking through the weep hole and said that it needed to be replaced. This job was quoted at over $2000. Hundreds of other water pump failures have been reported, some as early as 45,000 miles, and Ford refuses to issue a recall. The pump fails at the main bearing and spews coolant into the crankcase which kills the engine and totals the car. There was no check engine light, no warning signs whatsoever. If it were not for a routine belt change this issue would not have been caught and would have resulted in a catastrophic failure of the motor. This is unacceptable as it happens to all duratec equipped Ford vehicles and Ford refuses to cover this failure under a recall for the defective water pump.

Taurus 6-cyl

  • 66,000 miles
Vehicle stalls and high speeds and goes into "limp mode" where vehicle loses all power and acceleration. Vehicle immediately begins to decelerate in traffic causing a very dangerous and hazardous situation for the driver and other vehicles. This has now happened 8 times in my Taurus 5 of which was in the interstate in excess of 70mph. Consumer stated issue was not related to the fuel pump, issue was caused by the faulty throttle body. Warranty did not cover the part and consumer ended up paying out of pocket for the repair. Updated 7/25/18

Why the vehicle is in motion the vehicle tents to sputter and decelerate losing all power the vehicle then comes to complete stop in the movie line of traffic you have to turn the vehicle off and then turn the vehicle back on to actually get speed to move out of the way this has become a very serious safety issue in the operator of the vehicle. This mostly happens when the vehicle is in motion while traveling at speeds between 50 to 65 miles per hour the vehicles come to almost a complete stop in the movie line of traffic

My car has 86,621 miles and the thermostat light came on. I took to my mechanic and they told me that there is leaking around the water pump and it has to be replaced. I had it diagnosed at a Ford dealership and they agreed. It is not under warranty because of miles and it is going to cost $1900 to replace. I take very good care of my car and have all of the service records. It is a defect in the water pump and that is why it failed.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Taurus. While driving various speeds, the maintenance warning indicator illuminated intermittently. In addition, the vehicle shook violently and the rpms decelerated independently. The contact had to place the vehicle in park and sometimes restart the vehicle in order for it to operate; however, the failure recurred minutes later. The vehicle was taken to laurel Ford Lincoln (2018 ms-15, laurel, ms 39440 (601) 649-4511) where it was diagnosed that the throttle actuator control module needed to be repaired. When vehicle is stationary ie stop for a light or a stop sign the R.P.M on occasions drops from 600 to less than 500 RPM and it start to shake, if if I am not aware it will stall. What worries me is that on a trip of less than 5 miles it stalled on red lights and stop signs the same has happen to family members. I have taken to the dealer and nothing is found ( also took it to a private mechanic the same result was given). Same year Taurus have been having fuel pump problems but my VIN is not register, lot of frustrations. This occur mostly in city driving ant the moment not on open roads, highways.

Taurus

  • 72,000 miles
While driving to a dr apptointment I was on the freeway at about 70 mph when the car stalled, I lost acceleration and a wrench light came appeared. Fortunately I was near an exit where I was able to get off the freeway, and find a gas station, as I idled into the gas station at about 2-3 mph. I shut the car off and restarted it, and operation returned to normal for about a week. Then today, as I was driving my kids to school and was in the turning lane to enter the freeway it did the same thing, not once but twice in a span of 15 miles. Again fortunately I was able to pull off onto the shoulder and restart the vehicle. Out of fear I took all back roads home incase it happened again, which it did. I found a recall for this make and model of vehicle saying there is a fault with the fuel delivery system that seems to fit the bill, except the motor in my Taurus is not the same one listed on the recall. Regardless, this is a major safety issue that has put myself and my children in harms way 3 times in one week, and needs to be addressed. I spend an good amount of money to drive a vehicle that I feel is safe and reliable, and I feel neither at this point for a vehicle that is but 4 years old.

I was driving to work when the engine temp warning activated. I continued on to work, which was less than a mile away, and parked. I noticed steam coming from under the hood. I popped the hood and saw coolant pouring from someplace underneath the engine. Had the car towed to the shop, and it was initially diagnosed as a missing freeze plug. Further inspection revealed that the engine block was cracked. No leaks had been noted during previous oil change and all fluids were topped off. No freezing temperatures had occurred in the days prior to the incident. The vehicle is being towed to another shop that deals with major repairs. Warranty company was contacted for guidance and I was informed by them that they will not cover the repairs if the cracks were caused by freezing or overheating. Inspection by warranty company pending, but I have the feeling that they are going to try to worm their way out of covering this, even tough it's the top of the line warranty and is supposed to be "bumper to bumper" and "worry-free" coverage. I was lucky this happened to while I was in close proximity to a familiar place to park (my workplace). This incident happened while I was driving on a highway just before exiting to a city street, less than a mile from my workplace. It has now been close to two weeks the the car is still down and in need of a replacement engine. The car is only 4 years old. No previous issues with the car at all, it ran perfectly up until this issue. Fair warning to those purchasing this vehicle and looking to by an extended warranty, do your homework first.

Takata recall 2013 Ford Taurus... it's only February of 2017 and I have had this problem three different times this year alone. The car starts very very rough. Half of the time it doesn't start. The vehicle has stalled on me while in motion going down city streets. It has been in the shop twice this year to repair/find the problem. Still no results. Even when the car does start I am afraid to drive it because it will and has stalled on me in traffic. Automotive shop told me it was a bad fuel pump relay. I paid to have that replaced. Not even a week later, only six days later the car stalls again. I took it back to the shop where they got it running again for free. But only temporarily. Couple weeks later at the most and I'm right back to where I started. Car will not start. If it does start it will stall immediately once I am in motion. This vehicle is only three years old and there is no excuse for it not being on the road. This is safety hazard. I cannot comfortably drive my car to and from work without worrying about it stalling and getting rear-ended. It will not be a good day when this causes an accident.

As I was driving, on the hightway, the car stopped accelerating. It seemed to not be getting any gas. When I gave it gas it did not even rev. I pulled over and shut the engine off, waited about 20 seconds, started it and it was fine. This happened again shortly after. The wrench symbol came on when this happened and now the engine light is on.

Vehicle has 48,000 miles and had freezer plug and water pump failure. Ford was backordered by over 300 units of water pump. Vehicle was in Hawaii for first year and in seattle / Tacoma area since. I feel that at this mileage, along with the amount of water pumps that were on order from Ford motor that their is a defect with the water pumps and a recall should be looked into

I have a 2013 Ford Taurus limited edition.my car started having problems.I was at a stop started to move when the light turned green.the wrench light came on.I had no gas pedal.car was shacking very bad.I coasted to the side of the road turned engine off.I restarted my car and it seemed fine.this has happened several times.I took my car to commercial Ford in aransas pass tx.they thought it was throttle body speed sensor but they didn't know at that time.took my car home it continued to have problems and finally set a code.they were right.they want $800 dollars to repair my car.the problem is the part is on back order.as of today there are 1562 on back order.this is going to take along time that I will be without a vehicle.I have researched online there are a lot of complaints about this same problem.this is a dangerous and unsafe problem.I don't understand why Ford doesn't recall these cars before someone gets hurt.please investigate and get Ford to fix my car and the 1562 other cars that are having this same issue.
