My husband was driving the vehicle when the rear tire blew making the car undrivable. It was towed to a mechanic who found that both of the rear springs had snapped. I was told that had he been traveling at a higher speed he most assuredly would have either been seriously injured or killed. The cost of the repair so far has totaled almost $900 dollars. Ford has acknowledged that they know about this problem and my front springs are also about to snap. Ford stated that the front springs are recalled but the rear are not because there have not been any fatalities yet. I hope that it does not take a death or serious injury to get Ford or the nhsta to make Ford own up to its responsibility.

I own a 2001 Ford Taurus. Approximately 2 years ago, I was driving to work and heard something drop from my car (at a speed of 20 mph). I stopped my vehicle and walked down the road to find, what appeared to be a part from my vehicle. My husband looked at it, and wouldn't you know, it was my front coil that had busted. I took it into the dealership and they repaired it since there was a recall on the front coils. Last week, I was on the freeway and I heard something metal-like fall off my vehicle and my car fishtailed (about 55 mph). I stopped the vehicle on the side of the road and found that a coil had busted yet again. This time, the coil that broke was from the rear and good old Ford advised that there is no recall on the rear coils---just the front!are you kidding me? so, in short, there is an apparent problem with the coils on the 2001 Ford Taurus. I have read through about 200 complaints thus far and decided that something as to be wrong with these coils and I feel that it's the companies responsibilities to resolve these issues. Please, do no wait for someone to loose a life in order to issue a recall.

I own a 2001 Ford Taurus. The front and rear coil springs have been replaced two times over the years. There was a recall on the front springs but none on the rear. My recent incident occurred in October. I had five kids in the car when the front coil broke off and ripped the tire. The cost to fix was $1,700. Why hasn't there been a stronger demand for Ford to fix this problem. Searching the internet I know this is a widespread problem.

I have a 2001 Ford Taurus ses. About 5 months ago (~90 K miles) my front passenger side spring broke. The spring was replaced under recall. Yesterday (~103 K miles), I found the rear driver side coil spring also cracked open and hanging very near to the tire. This car drives 98% on I-94 at a speed of 75mph. Thank god the broken spring did not pop my tire open. Dealer checked and found both the rear springs broken. A $385 estimate is given for just replacing the spring (not the struts). I checked on the internet and found this is a very common problem in Taurus. Ford should come forward and put a recall on the rear springs too.

I had to replace the both front coil springs on a 2001 Ford Taurus. The left front had broken. The car did have the shields installed as per the recall. Ford has done nothing to help with the cost. The car has 72,000 miles.

We have a 2001 Ford Taurus that we bought new. Had the front spring shields installed upon receiving recall notice. Front springs are ok so far, but I noticed the rear of the car sat a little low in the garage. I had heard of some spring problems with the Ford, and my son just had the rear springs on his Focus replaced recently at his own expense. (he bought the Focus new also) I scheduled service at our Ford dealership and they confirmed both rear springs are broken. They did not have them in stock, so rescheduled me for the next day. The struts did not come in, so now I'm rescheduled for next week. Now I don't know if we should drive it or not, as I found out that a lot of tires are being punctured, and I had recently put new tires on. Ford should take care of this...

: the contact stated while traveling 30 mph, there was a noise coming from the rear end. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop that determined the driver side rear coil spring was broke and rubbed on the tire. Also, the repair shop determined the inner axle boot was leaking on the front passenger side.

Car experiences vibration at highway speeds and has a rattle in the "front end". dealer inspected the vehicle and found the front end "link pins" to be worn. These pins attach the lower control arm to the frame of the vehicle and in turn, hold the front tires in position. These pins have been replaces twice on this particular vehicle. Once at approx 21,000 miles and again at approx 56,000 miles. The dealer says they see this "a lot on the Taurus" and state that Ford has now changed the part due to excessive wear. This is a critical component as failure of this part could result in the front wheels coming off the vehicle (per the dealership). Again - symptoms are front end vibration, which is not corrected by tire balance.
