The contact owns a 2000 Ford Taurus. While traveling at 35mph the vehicle started to shake and vibrate. It was difficult to control. He pulled the vehicle over and noticed that the rear passenger side was lower in the wheel base than the front side. The vehicle was driven to the nearest mechanic. The technician stated that the rear coil springs had failed and it should not be driven until it was repaired. The manufacture stated that they would not be responsible for the repairs. He states that since the problem has been recalled on the front it should also include the rear. I visited Ford dealership in toronto in regards to recalls and I've been informed that only recall that applies to my vehicle is the following one: NHTSA campaign id number: 04V332000; component: Suspension:front:springs:coil springs; mfr's report date: Jul 06, 2004.browsing the www-ODI.NHTSA.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/results.cfm I have realized that there has been several other recalls for the 2000 Taurus. One of the recalls that I found at the above mentioned website is: NHTSA campaign id number: 00V242000 vehicle description: Passenger vehicles. The "vehicle capacity weight" and "designated seating capacity" information was not printed on the safety certification labels affixed to these vehicles after I examined my vehicle I noticed that the safety certification label on my vehicle has the same information missing. I contacted Ford and after expressing my concerns their final answer was that there are no other recalls than the front coil springs recall that applies to mu vehicle, and it is not their fault if some of the information printed on the label are not visible enough. Today, I have been at the yorkdale Ford located in toronto, Canada. After I explained the whole situation no one inspected my vehicle's sticker and I have been told that the dealer cannot do anything about that sticker (they did install protective spring shields) and I should contact the Ford. My concerns in regards to above are: 1. since my vehicle's safety certification label does not contain all the information and as per Ford records my vehicle is not under the recall for the same label, I am concerned that there is a possibility of other not recognized but existing recalls that apply to my vehicle 2. who would take liability in case that the coil spring fractures and that results in a crush or any other inconvenience" 3. browsing the website www.alldatadiy.com I found the following Taurus 2000 recall: 02M01S6 Aug 04 tube mounted egr pressure sensor.is this correct"

The technician added that they would only replace the front coil springs because he has not experienced a failure with the rear coil springs and that component was not referenced in the remedy of the recall. The day of the repair the car seemed a bit tilted and made a funny noise. When taken to the dealer, was told both rear coils were broken. Both front coils had been replaced less than a year ago and also resulted in a ruptured tire. Current costs estimated around 600 dollars. This is not covered by the front coil recall, but involves the same faulty part.
Around 2005, my front left spring broke while putting my 2000 Ford Taurus into drive and nearly popped my tire. About one year later, I received a recall regarding the front spring shields, and had that done. Now, as of the current date in 2008, I received word from my mechanic that my replaced front left spring is broken again, although not yet protruding into my tire, and that I should not drive the vehicle. Ford should be ashamed to offer these inferior springs and not cover them as a recall, but instead try to blame the problem on an inexpensive "spring shield."

The dealer will only replace the front suspension according to the recall. The current mileage was 58,200 and failure mileage was 58,000.

Front and rear suspension spring broke on the 2000 Ford Taurus. There was a recall on this exact issue, but I was told this vehicle did not qualify for the recall. I heard of many other owners of this make of vehicle with the same problem, with the front and back springs malfunctioning, and they have not had them covered by the recall. I think the recall should be expanded to cover more vehicles and include the rear springs also! this is a dangerous defect in the car and Ford should be held accountable.

In July 2006, the front coil springs of my 2000 Ford Taurus failed even after I followed a recall notice and had the shields placed on my car. This failure was fixed. Now in May 2007, the back coil springs fail for the same reason but are not covered under the original recall. How can this be ? there is a defect in the mfg of the springs or the specification to build them. The same salt that corroded the front, corroded the back. This recall should be expanded to include both front and back coil springs.
