The front left coil spring of my 2000 Ford Taurus corroded and snapped. Fortunately, the car was parked, but the sharp broken end of the coil punctured the sidewall of my tire. I had to have a new spring put in and had to buy a new tire.

Given the number of problems that have occurred and are occurring with Taurus coil springs, there should be some kind of recall. It costs anywhere from $400-$600 or more to have a coil spring and related parts replaced, plus the towing.

Checked tire and found the coil spring had broken and punctured the inside sidewall. Since I am a long time Ford dealer technician and have done many spring recalls on the older tauruses and the car has so few miles on it I contacted Ford to see if they would repair the concern. They would not. I then went to order a new spring and found the part on backorder(part not available I.e Ford has run out). Having read all the complaints, isn't it time for an investigation into this dangerous and I'm sure soon to be fatal defect?
