: the contact stated while approaching a stop at 15 mph the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle did not stop, causing a rear end collision with another vehicle. The brake pedal went to the floor and was spongy. Seat belts were in use and minor injuries were sustained by both the contact and passenger. There was a police report filed and the vehicle was towed. The insurance inspector has not disclosed the cause of the accident. The manufacturer was not alerted.
I have a 98 Ford Taurus and the ABS light came on the brakes were not working properly. They would kick back and I could hear a popping sound. So I took it to a care place and the hooked it to the computer it said a bad passenger rear sensor. $200 later the problem wasn't fixed. Now they say it is the main modular sensor oh that's $700. Well the bad thing is I know of 2 other people that have the same problem. This car is suppose to be a safe vehicle. But I'm not impressed and would never buy one again. I think with this many complaints there should be a recall.
When applied brakes, the pedal went to the floor which caused extended stopping distance. This could result in an accident. Dealer has been notified. Ph on another occasion, the brake pedal went to the floor and the vehicle did not stop this time causing an accident.
The ABS light comes on intermittently. Took it to the service station today and they told me the ABS computer went. At only 67000 miles" what gives" $600 repair. Also door ajar light stays on all the time. Had to disconnect the bulb in the interior lights so the battery doesn't run down. Car squeaks when making turns, A/C rattles. Not happy with this car at all.
Rotors replaced twice / resurfaced 4X in 30000 mi. Pads also replaced 4 times in 30000 mi. Vehicle shakes side to side wildly when brakes applied at speed.
The braking system is horrible and dangerous. I change brakes every 20,000 miles or less. I drive highway miles and should be changing as often. All I get told by the dealer is that they need to be changed every 20K miles. The car shakes and makes noises.
We've tried to contact Ford several times, but only receive the standard courtesy letter & "they will look into it". in the meantime, anyone in that car is at risk due to the seriousness of the problem. Our own children can't ride in it! we have to have a vehicle to get to work, so we'll have to try to get rid of it, since Ford refuses to respond. All we would want is it fixed! there's also a problem with the paint peeling off of the front bumper that will cost $250 to fix!
This vehicle was purchased with good brakes, with approximately 30000 miles we have replaced pads 4 times, and also have replaced the calipers & rotors, and now the speed sensor. Is this an ongoing problem with this vehicle? the unit is smoking when driven.
When brakes were applied vehicle and steering wheel/column would vibrate moderately to violently. Dealership looked into this defect and replaced front rotors/ tires, and brakes. Please provide any additional information/attachments.
We have had this car in the shop 8 times sence we bought it. We've only put 12000 miles on this vehicle and my wife is scared to drive it! no afety defect mentioned in summary.
While driving from 35 mph and above grinding and pulsation from front brakes lead to replacment of brake pad and rotors three times at 40,000 miles ABS "electronic control unit" replaced 50,000 miles $700 repair.
Braking system needed replacement due to premature wear of parts. Dealer notified, and repairs were being made at consumer's cost. Please feel free to provide any further details.
On two occasions when brakes were applied under normal conditions pedal went to the floor, resulting in extended stopping distance. Dealer has inspected vehicle, and have not been able to duplicate the problem.
When consumer was driving and applied brakes there was a popping noise. Braking system didn't allow her to brake effectively. The brakes failed due to a problem in auto lock system.
