The vehicle started overheating. Head gasket was leaking anti-freeze. Took to dealer & mechanic noticed an oil leak. The transmission oil was leaking, but location could not be found.
Our vehicle was performing as usual prior to the breakdown. We had recently had the vehicle tuned up, and the oxygen sensor replaced due to a skip problem and lower then normal gas mileage. We had just completed a 45 minute trip in the vehicle and stopped for dinner. We were in the restaurant for 45 minutes and then returned to the vehicle to complete our trip. Upon leaving the restaurant, the vehicle began to skip badly, with smoke from the exhaust, and the temperture gauge began to rise. We immeditally turned the vehicle off. We have had the vehicle towed to our mechanic and he said we have a blown head gasket. Upon contacting our Ford dealership we were told that yes, Ford had an extended warranty for this problem for this vehicle, but that we were past the Dec.31, 1998 deadline and the 60,000 miles. We contacted the Ford customer inquiry department, but we were told the samething. We feel that Ford knows about this problem and should take responsibility.
Engine mounts broke, resulting in engine movement. Also, noticed air conditioner /clutch damaged due to the broken mounts. Consumer has contacted dealer, dealer has not replaced parts. After vehicle repaired, the transmission began to pop out of gear, owner got rid of car.
While driving at 30 mph the front end is vibrating due to motor mounts breaking off. This is the second time that motor mounts broke off. Dealer can't determine the problem.
I was told by Ford they were not responsible for the ruined engine. But had they not installed faulty head gaskets, overheating would not have occured and then ruined the engine. This car is no longer useable, can you help, please? who can I contact about this. Thank you
Ignition switch failed. Can take key out of switch & engine still going. Had 2 ignition switches replaced due to failure, possibly an electrical short. Also, engine head gasket had blown at 64,000/fuel pump replaced due to overheating, and the air conditioner puts out an odor when running for awhile. Been to dealer each time about problems. Had also notified manufacturer & told nothing can be done.
