Speedometer jumps around and makes noise, there are some tsb's already on this, I feel that since Ford knew of this problem that they should foot the $672 and not me!!
Speedodometer does not register correct speed when vehicle is driven beyond 40 mph. Speedodomter becomes erratic. The consumer had transmission repaired, radiator and motor mounts replaced.
The speedometer on my Taurus jumps aroun once I hit about 50 mph. This is a safety hazard because I have no way of knowing how fast I am travelling down the freeway. Ford should fix this problem without cost to the owner of the vehicle because the speedometer has a defective part which has failed for many more people than I. I found numerous complaints of this problem while searching the internet.
Faulty speedometer head caused speedometer to produce a rattling sound and the needle would bounce and jump making it difficult to determine the speed while driving, two years passed and the problem reoccured but the consumer would have to repair at own expense. Nlm

While driving speedometer will start flopping up numbers off right side and then back down to fifty again when hitting rough spots. Consumer feels this is distracting because he doesn't know how fast he is going sometimes.
A defective speedometer head causes speedometer needle to move, and cannot read the accurate speed. This is the second time that speedometer needs to be replaced. Ford is not willing assist consumer.
Speedometer head failed for second time on this vehicle, I have another 1995 Taurus that does same thing. Speedometer jums erratically spedometer needle "pins" makes horrible clicking and chirping noise. Over 150 complaints for same problem on your site. Please help Ford does not agknowledge defect and wants full price to replace unit for third time. This is a real saftey issue as you cannot determine the speed of vehicle. Also, Ford has tsb on this very problem. Won't you please help me and other 1995 Taurus owners who are frustrated by Ford's irresponsible position regarding this saftey defect" how much longer is Ford going to be able to treat this issue so lightly" I plan on informing my congressman and senator of my complaint to your office. Please agknowledge this letter in writting. Thank you.
Speedometer has been repaired twice. Same problem keeps reoccurring. Needle goes back & forth, and consumer can't tell how they're going. Both times it has been replaced, but no remedy has been found.
Odometer failure, and was replaced by dealer. Problem, and dealer notified again. Informed consumer that repairs will be done at 50% off on repairs/part. Please feel free to provide any further details.
The original speedometer began to fluctuate wildly at high speeds and was replaced, with about 21000 miles on the replacement speedometer it began to fail again. Nlm
The speedometer randomly makes noises during which time the needle approaches 90 mph regardless of the travelling speed. I believe this is due a short-circuit inside the dashboard. I also believe this is a fire hazard. Most importantly, I believe that this condition is due to a manufacturing defect which has been overlooked either due to negligence or due to poor quality control.
Speedometer has failed twice. Replaced at 35,000 miles under warranty. Second failure not honored by dealer. At speeds above 40-45 speedometer needle swings wildly making it impossible to judge speed accurately. This problem seems to be a common thread with 1995 Taurus owners. Perhaps we have a recall situation here!

Speedometer jumps, . needle bounces between 0 and 85. This usually starts around 50 mph. I also don't feel it is accurate at other speeds. This is already a tsb NHTSA item #SB051008 and #SB051230. I have talked with (3) other 1995 Taurus owners, and they have the same problem. I took it to a local Ford dealer, they told me it was not the sensor, or the cable but a gear in the speedo, I that I would have to purchase a new speedo for $700. I feel that this is known safety defect. I have a new 16 year old driver that cannot judge his speed. This a defect and not a maintainance item. Please respond as to how I can get this fixed at no cost.
