Consumer states vehicle is exhibiting a screeching noise coming from the back wheel area. Consumer is aware there is a recall notice (98V323000) possibly related to this condition.
While driving at a low speed, vehicle lost steering control. Dealer inspected vehicle and notified consumer that subframe diconnected from vehicle. Vehicle was repaired under recall 98V323000, and part was not covered under warranty and recall. Dealer found steering gear cracked. Subframe bushings and washers were worn and missing. Steering gear and subframe bushing were replaced. Airbag light flashing. Clockspring assembly replaced.
Vehicle was serviced in June of 1999 for recall 98V323000. When consumer had vehicle examined for mechanical problems she was informed that subframe mounting bolts were cracked, and was charged for repairs. Please provide any additional information / documentation.
Recall98S36, NHTSA /98V323000, rear subframe mounts. Consumer received recall notice in February, but dealer refuses to honor or set an appointment for recall repairs.
