This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I am unable to unlock my driver's side door from the outside. I feel this is a safety concern, considering I am a single woman living in the city. The door will not open with the handle or the key fob. I have to walk around to the passenger side and reach through the vehicle to open the door. When trying to research the issue, I have seen several forums where others are having the same issue. My 2017 Ford Mustang has had several electrical issues that has not made it to the recall list. Such as the heating and cooling system, the back up camera, and the connectivity of the usb port and sync. I am need of assistance in getting the issue with my door fixed. I know that it isn't a safety issue such as a risk while driving, although, it is a safety issue for my safety well being.
There was a recall regarding the backup camera and/or its harness, I took this in to have it replaced and the dealership did not correct the problem, then when I went to have it serviced again, the dealership was closed down, I need my camera repaired/replaced.
Was in the car during a very slow, around 5mph front end collision. The knee airbag went off at low speed. I. Exited the vehicle to look at damage and then I sat back in the driver seat. Upon sitting back in the driver seat I noticed the smoke that had cleared from the airbag had started to build back up and became more dense. I had my feet outside the door while sitting in the driver seat and when I when I looked around I noticed a fire getting larger and larger from the pillar to my left, between the rear seat and the front driver seat. I didn-??t have anything to put it out so I tried to blow it out and it was getting larger and larger melting more of the plastic up the pillar. I ripped off a work shirt I had and was able to smother the fire with it. Had I not been able to smother it this fire would have engulfed the whole vehicle. After observing the damage the wiring harness had shorted out and burnt/ caught on fire that goes from the front of the vehicle to the back.there was no prior damage to the vehicle and no damage to the car other than the front end collision during the accident.
The passenger side door keeps unlatching itself. So, when I am driving on a street, I will sometimes occasionally get "Passenger Side door Ajar" warning message that pops up on my dash, and sure enough, the door is open. I have to lean over and quickly slam it shut. I've noticed this happens particularly when driving on a bumpier road. I know there has been similar recalls for this same problem on the driver side door that was mentioned on - NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V168000.
The clutch pedal is breaking off of the assembly (can be heard by a creaking sound), which will make it impossible to engage the clutch to change gears when it breaks. The clutch pedal isn-??t something that wears like brakes and tires, this is a very important part to the basic operation of the vehicle. There has been numerous examples of this problem occurring for years on many of the Mustangs from this generation. Some have taken it into their own hands to fix the design error from Ford. How this hasn-??t been recalled yet (especially after being considered on of the best selling cars) is pathetic and dangerous for everyone in the road and will eventually lead to a fatal accident. I trust that the NHTSA will do the right thing and force a recall for Ford-??s greedy and cheap tactics.
Thr rear view camera does not function properly. Around fifty percent of the time backing up the screen will show "Rear view camera not available." I have owned the vehicle since July 2022. There's a recall currently on this issue, but Ford is saying my vehicle is not included.
Ford issued a recall on my car's backup camera system. About at the same time that this recall was issued, my backup camera started failing. Ford recently inspected my vehicle pursuant to the recall, and says that the existing recall only applies to the wiring harness of my vehicle. I'm still stuck with a faulty backup camera because neither the dealership nor Ford corporate will take responsibility for the broken camera.
My 2017 Mustang Convertible gave no warning to suddenly have no access to the trunk. The key fob doesn't open it. The inside button does not work. The seat doesn't fold down. There is no actual key hole to use. I am woman almost 70 years old. What if I have a flat tire? Everything I need for a flat tire is in the trunk. My first Aid kit is on the trunk. This is a serious problem and a poor design. I am still waiting for the dealer to fix the recall on the back up camera. I think both problems, the back up camera AND the trunk issue are in the same wiring harness. I sure hope I don't get a flat.
I have a safety recall on my vehicle. It is for the rearview camera on my Mustang. Safety Recall Notice 22S06/NHTSA Recall 22V082. We took the vehicle to the dealership for diagnostic and then back again for repair in October 2022. The service department replaced the wiring harness but did not replace the camera. The wiring wiring. Less than a month the camera failed again and I harness point of failure was due to the trunk lid closing on the wiring which I believe has also compromised the camera due to inconsistent connectivity due to faulty am being told by Ford that I would have to pay out of pocket to get this camera replaced. This is very unsafe when backing up and puts me at risk for a crash. Ford's failure to address this safety hazard should be reviewed by National Traffic and Motor Vehicle department. Can you please help me?
At times the trunk does not open. It is unsafe to put anything in the trunk because you do not know when it will open and not open. I was told without the trunk opening you have no access to the spare tire. I case of an accident you can end up stranded without access to the spare tire. This is a reoccurring and ongoing problem. It has been unable to open a few times and currently it has been unable to open for a while now. Not sure if it has any connection to the rear view camera on the trunk.
RECALL 22V082 for 2017 Ford Mustang. Unreliable backup camera (safety issue) and trunk wiring harness. Vehicle was at Camelback Ford, Phoenix, Arizona, on June 28, 2022, for the recall. Dealer ordered backup camera and trunk wiring harness. Neither the Dealer or Ford Corporate can tell me when the parts will be available or where the parts are coming from. Now the trunk will not open (part of the wiring harness recall). Getting the runaround from Ford!
Drove car 600 miles then there was no coolant in the vehicle. Car gas hand says car was half way full after I filled the car up. It will give the wrong reading then once you start driving It will reset. Air conditioning will not work got half way down the highway across country and the air conditioning stop work for 2 hours. Then it will only work on low until I turned off and on a couple times then it started blowing air. Remote start - cold start will not start sometimes or take a couple of times to start the vehicle and you have to be directly in front of the vehicle it will lock and open from your home but you have to walk directly in front of the vehicle for it to start.
2017 ecoboost mustang, 31k miles, 17 yr old daughter pulls out of neighborhood going to high school! 1/4 of a mile (4 houses) down she hears a loud boom then car bursts into flames under the hood near firewall or windshield wiper arms. Cause is coolant leaking into the cylinders, which in turn caused the misfires, and engine to catch on fire. Ford has been aware of this issue since 2016.
The weld on my clutch pedal broke while driving. This should be a safety recall because it could have caused an accident, death, or injury. The quality of the weld on the clutch pedal is very poor and seems to be a common issue. I was driving around 40mph when this happened. This makes the car inoperable due to the clutch shifting to one side preventing the vehicle to start normally.
Well know issue with the Ford Mustangs. My evaporator/condenser have failed before the vehicle hit 40K miles. No recall no sympathy from Ford just a 2200 dollar repair bill right after the warranty ended. Air no longer functions, electric fan runs all the time and the blower motor makes a painful noise on the defrost setting.
Vehicle's back up camera was only working intermittently, then stopped working all together. Error code (per dealership, C1001 I think but may be incorrect code) indicates a problem with the wiring that connects the camera to the center console.
A part of the air conditioner system called the evaporator core fr3Z-19680-C required replacement and the repair work to access the unit requires that the dashboard be removed to gain access. Vehicle had 53K miles.
I'm having the same rear camera issue - harness - the every Mustang owner reports. This should be a recall. My rear camera intermittently does not work properly. The view is distorted and unclear.
