I was at the gas station when I got out of my car after turning it off while I went inside to pay. I was moving swiftly because I had to get back to work. I looked outside and my car had rolled away from the pump, nearly in the city street before I reached it. I immediately ran outside after it, hopped in & put my foot on the brake. I was confused when I saw the gear still in park.. it was then that I looked at the dash and saw it was stuck in neutral. Some guys helped me push it back to the pump and I had to put the parking brake on in order to keep it from rolling again. A nearby mechanic looked under my hood and discovered that the 'shifter cable bushing' had degraded. I called Ford and set up an appointment. The problem was still not fixed
The contact called on behalf of her sister who owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that her sister attempted to place the gear shifter into reverse however, the instrument panel displayed that the vehicle was in neutral. The gear shifter was placed in park however, the instrument panel displayed vehicle was still in neutral. The contact's sister turned the vehicle off and removed the key from the ignition and the vehicle started rolling backwards. The parking brake was activated to stop the vehicle. The contact's sister called crescent Ford, Inc (100 old winston rd, high point, nc 27265, (336) 869-2181) where she was informed that a diagnostic test was necessary to determine the cause of the failure. The contact linked the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19V362000 (power train) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 69,240.
At random times when the car is departing on city streets or highway, the car would stop shifting out of second gear. I would manually shift it to neutral then back to drive and it would drive normal through the first gear then shift to second gear and stay in second gear until I stop and repeat the process, first gear then second gear then stuck and repeat. No one has been able to find out what's wrong with my car's drivetrain system. Multiple certified mechanics have informed me to contact Ford for recalls on this car's powertrain system however Ford says they have no recalls on this model. This seems like a manufacturing defect and is a very dangerous problem since it happens unexpectedly at random time.

Csr was moving, I made a turn then it was driving weird. Car engine would rev when gas pedal is pressed, but would barely go then after a minute it would not go at all anymore, little wrench light showed up. Transmission is what the mechanic said is the problem. Code reads that the ratio of the third gear is incorrect.

Electronic warning that the power steering is no longer functioning property, epa light flashing on and off, and stated that there was an issue with the rear park aid. My car has less than 30K miles and it happened multiple times driving both locally and highway miles. Typically will occur after driving for more than 5 minutes, problem can be fixed by putting vehicle in drive and rotating wheel all the way in both directions and then restarting vehicle. Problems is recurring though and has happened multiple times in the past 3 weeks. Problem causes steering wheel to become extremely difficult to turn and leads to issues maneuvering the vehicle. Very dangerous especially when trying to make any turns. I am bringing my car into be serviced tomorrow as it is very dangerous to drive, will have further documentation after that.
Coolant started leaking into the engine and now I need a new engine. I have only owned this car for four years and have taken very good care of it. I have done some research and found that hundreds of people have had the same issue. I will never buy from Ford again.

When shifting from park to 1st gear has a hesitation and shakes the whole car while this is a big concern I took it to 3 different Ford dealers and they told me that there was no fix or it was normal or the problem could not be duplicated I have now been stuck with this vehicle that is now out of warranty and nothing I can do with it cause Ford won't fix this problem
On February 11th 2020, I purchased a 2016 Ford Fusion with 73,000 miles from american car center in West columbia, S C. on February 23rd I was riding on I26 and my car started overheating. I pulled into a parking lot. I opened the hood and all my antifreeze and and water was spouting out of the reservoir. I put enough water back in it to take it back to the dealership. The dealership directed me to take the vehicle to pep boys on broad river road, columbia South Carolina to find and fix the problem. The problem was with the thermostat and the thermostat housing. Pep boys had the car for about 5 days to repair. I get the car back on February 28th 2020. The car was fine until March 12th. That morning I was on my way to work and I heard a blunt sound coming from my vehicle and the vehicle just cut off while I was on the highway and the check engine light came on. I had enough power to make it to work. When I left work for the day, the car cut off again while I was driving on the interstate. I once again pulled over and got enough power to make it to the car dealer. When I got to the dealer one of the salesman went to auto zone to do a diagnostic and the codes came back with a fuel issue. I then dropped the car off to richards auto repair in West columbia, Carolina, he did a diagnostic and notified me that the tube assembly needed to be replaced. He did the work and the car ran ok. On March 22, while driving, the temperature gauge started moving torward the H meaning the car is running hot again. I recorded a video of the temperature gauge moving up and down and also the "power reduced to lower engine temp" message came on on the dashboard. I turned the car off once parked and did not start it again for a couple of days. On March 24th, I was outside of a local store and in park and the temperature gauge moved again to the H while the car was on and idling. Consumer stated car overheated again on April 11th.
The airbag warning light was on and stayed on. The passenger airbag light said the airbag was off when a person was in the passenger seat. I had to turn the car off while in park in my driveway and turn it back on after a few minutes. The light went off and didn't come back on. The transmission does not shift smooth when switching gears from park to drive.
1. air bag sensor stays on, as if I have a malfunctioning unit that will burst at any time. No matter what I do, it always stays on. There is no way to turn the sensor or the airbags off, so I cannot disengage them and keep them from exploding unnecessarily. 2. the transmission does not shift properly. It is jumped when automatically shifting between third and fourth gear as if there is not enough fluid to allow for a smooth transition.
When I'm going down hill at high speeds, the transmission down shift very hard when I apply the brake at all. It sounds like a very loud revving. Once I press the accelerator again it goes back to normal. It's very concerning, my car has 59,000 mile on it and dealer says they couldn't feel anything, well that probably because they didn't drive it down hill.
Vehicle slamming into gear while attempting to reverse. Harsh and delayed shifting by the transmission between park/reverse/drive. Occurs when the vehicle is at a complete stop with the brake pressed. Vehicle also failing to downshift to a lower gear after slowing down.
The car showed it was in park. It was actually still in gear even showing otherwise. There has been a recall on the same make and model (2016 Ford Fusion). The problem was with a faulty, and detached shift cable. There have been over 500,000 Ford vehicles recalled for this specific issue. This was the exact problem with our 2016 Ford Fusion with 88,101 miles. We just played a total of $278 to have the vehicle towed and the part replaced. Ford is telling me that our specific VIN # was not included in the recall of the other 500,000 vehicles this far. How can this company get away with this problem? I also contacted the closest Ford dealer prior to having the car towed. After finding that the vehicle would not be covered under warranty, we had to have towed and fixed and the closest body shop to where the car was broke down and still in gear. We set the parking break to keep the vehicle from rolling away. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Got in the parked vehicle and the display on the dash said the vehicle was in neutral but shifter was in park and would not move. The transmission linkage bushing had failed and the cable was no longer connected to transmission. This is a known recall issue for this model. Dealership advised the recall does not apply to my VIN and I am responsible for repairs.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. After parking the vehicle, the transmission shifter remained locked in the park position. The cause of the failure was not determined. Malloy Ford (2070 seminole dtrl, chancellorsville, va) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer provided case number: Cac 2521533. The failure mileage was 53,000.
