Gear bushing issue not included in 2016 Ford Fusion Recall in 2019. Car was in a hand wash car was when the bushing broke and rolled into reverse. The car was turned off and then would not start because the gear shifter would not allow the car to go into park even though the shifter appeared to be in Park.

The power steering goes out randomly, mostly when it is hot outside or on the interior. It is not included in the current recall for this issue, however it needs to be. It happened in 2021 and now is still happening in 2022. No issues prior to the failure until power steering alert goes off. I have almost crashed multiple times due to this failure.

This recall should apply to my VIN but the dealer say it does not. NHTSA ID: 19V362 My car did exactly this issue thought I had put the vehicle in Park by the shifter but when I went to get out of the vehicle it started to roll away. I have found this part in the recall notice is what the problem but they won't replace it. So now I have a unsafe vehicle.

On February 15th 2022 I experienced to failure in my powertrain system regarding the transmission center cable. I had my vehicle in park in a public lot and it began to roll away towards oncoming traffic. Thankfully I noticed and was able to get back into my vehicle and apply the emergency break before anyone was hit or injured when I looked closer I realized my gear shifter was in park but the dashboard read that my car was still in drive. When I tried to move the shifter It was completely stick in place and I had to get my vehicle towed to a Ford dealership. I spent $256.59 to have the transmission shifter cable replaced. In doing research on the issue I have learned there have already multiple recalls for this exact issue on 2016 Ford Fusion but when speaking to the dealership and looking on this website I was informed that my specific vehicle was not included in this recall therefore the repairs would not be covered. Also in my research I learned many other Ford Fusions who were not included in the recall have experienced the same exact system failure and safety concern. The Ford dealership that did the repair said it was the same part failure that resulted in the recall of the other vehicles. No warning lights messages or other signs appeared prior to the failure or notified me that a failure had occurred.

At a fuel stop I put shifter into park and turned off engine. When refueling was completed car would not come out of park. Dash shift indicator showed car was in neutral. Car was towed to local Ford dealer where inspection showed shifter cable had detached from transmission. The Ford dealer service department repaired the issue by replacing shift cable bushing (part number DG9Z*7K340) and cap (part number DG9Z*7S004). It is unknown if the replaced parts are available for inspection since I do not know if the service department retained them. It is unknown if components have been inspected by others. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. After researching this problem this appears to be the same issue that prompted a recall of the 2016 Ford Fusion with 2.5L engine.

Additionally, the contact stated that the gear shifter would emit vibrating sounds and the vehicle would shudder while driving. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had increased in intensity and frequency. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. We have a 2016 Ford Fusion. We-??ve already had major engine work done on it by the dealership about 2 years ago. Then about a year later, the transmission wouldn-??t go into gear. We took it in to have looked at and they said that the bushings failed and the shifter cable detached from the transmission. They charged us $184 and sent us on our way. They failed to tell us that this can damage the transmission cause now a year later they are telling me I need a new transmission on a 2016 Ford Fusion. This is the 2nd Ford Fusion I-??ve had that had a transmission go early. I-??ve also had a F-150 with Transmission problems. I was assured that they fixed the problems from the older years when I purchased this new from The dealer. The Ford Fusion has had a recall on the shifter cable and knew that it was going to cause problems down the road and didn-??t say anything. I shouldn-??t have to pay 6,000 dollars for a new transmission when they knew this was going to happen after the shifter cable disengaged from the transmission

The shifter cable has degraded and detached from the transmission, allowing the transmission to be in a shift state other than what the shifter lever shows. Although there is an existing recall for this exact issue, my vehicle falls outside of the specified manufacture dates and Ford is unwilling to remedy the issue. As a result I need to fix the issue out of pocket in order to prevent severe injury or loss of life.

The shift cable clip broke and vehicle is stuck in neutral. There is a recall for this problem for ford fusion's 2013 - 2016. We have a 2016 but the vin # is not included in the recall, unsure why it is not included.

My Fusion would shift into park using the shifter, but was actually in neutral allowing the car to roll forward and backward even though the shifter was in park. It is at the dealer now and they said they shifter bushing failed. There is a recall for Fusions (reference # 19s16), but the dealer says it does not apply to my vehicle. The recall is for Fusions with the 2.5 motor and I have the 2.0 motor. However, I asked the dealer and both vehicles use the same bushing, so I think my car should be covered. Luckily no one was injured in this incident but it could have been avoided if my car was included in the recall. This occurred in Provo, UT where my son is using the car for School.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that upon placing the gear shifter into DRIVE, the vehicle began to reverse as the instrument panel showed that the gear was in REVERSE. The contact made multiple attempts to switch the gear shifter until DRIVE appeared on the instrument panel and was able to resume normal driving. The contact then called the dealer and an appointment was scheduled to have the vehicle diagnosed. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and informed her that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V362000 (Power Train). The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

When you put it in Reverse you have to pause. If your foot is on the gas is slams into reverse and makes a terrible sound and gives you a jolt! My girlfriend has the same exact car and hers did this as well. But there was a recall on her car and she had it fixed. I looked up recalls on my car 6 months ago and there were about 8 and now there are none. Can't seem to see why!
