The vehicle failed to stop and knocked over a handicapped post. The vehicle then drove over a lawn before coming to a full stop. No warning light was illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. The contact suffered a sore neck, but medical attention was not received. No police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who determined that the front bumper and fender needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the independent mechanic. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, she depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle when she heard a pop sound, but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that she had to apply pressure to the brake pedal to slow the vehicle. The traction control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake line failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that she then received notification of the NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V162000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.

The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel drifted to the left while depressing the brake pedal, and excessive force was needed to maneuver the steering wheel. The air bag warning light was intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer on numerous occasions, where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic on four separate occasions, where it was diagnosed that a wheel alignment was needed; however, after the alignment was completed, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that all tires needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to Kings Ford (9555 Kings Auto Mall Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45249), where it was diagnosed that another alignment was needed; however, the failure persisted after the repair. Additionally, the contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V162000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the mechanic related the failure to the recall; however, the dealer confirmed that parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was advised to apply the parking brake whenever parking the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

The failure mileage was approximately 113,000.
