CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2011 Fusion builds off the 2010's reputation. That's not a good thing.

The first thing that jumps out is the ridiculous amount of power steering complaints. It grinds, it squeals, and it eventually just fails.

And if losing power steering isn’t enough for you, how about a sudden loss of engine power? That combination is enough to achieve clunker status.

** I was giving it gas before it just died and it seemed like the gas was not getting to the engine to make it go. It put my family is danger!! something I would never get back if I lost. June 11, 2013 @ 7:30 pm: Driving from springfield to 13the street in eugene. Everything was normal, but then when I made a right turn onto 13th street then about 1 blocks later the throttle control/transmission' indicator lit up, the car became silent and all power left. -I put the care in park -started the engine just like you normally do when you get into the car. The key acted like it was stuck a little bit before it returned to the normal position.

As I pulled into a diagonal parking space at my cvs drug store, turning at a low rate of speed or approximately 1 or 2 mph, stepping on the brake to complete the routine act of parking, there was a sudden surge of acceleration. This was not of my own volition! the estimated damage to my car is $5,000 while damaged to the other car was minor. Recently there was an article in the L.a. times about a class action lawsuit for exactly this type of surge acceleration or "flaring" and since it's likely my car was actually built in 2010 it's probably the same situation.

I was traveling about 35 to 40mph when the car starting acting up. Anytime I had to slow down and then speed up the RPM would not shift, when it did shift it would jerk the car forward. I also have been having an issue where I would step on the gas and it would act as if it was in neutral. This continues to happen and I fear that one of these times I will be in an accident with my kids in the car. These are all transmission issues, I have brought it in twice now first time they did the tsb which was to reset the PCM and my ac wasn't and still is not working. Resetting the PCM did not work so now back in the shop it sits. This car is only 4 months old and already has safety issues being the transmission. There needs to be a recall before there are deaths.
