CarComplaints.com Notes: Ford significantly updated the Fusion for the 2010 model year. We wish they hadn't
Throttle body issues have led to a ton of reports about a sudden deceleration and loss of power while driving. Ford issued a “customer satisfaction program” in March 2014 that, unsurprisingly, has left very few customers satisfied.
2010 is also the year we started seeing complaints about the power steering failing. Throttle and steering failure? Yeah, that’s why this is a clunker.

2010 Ford Fusion SE V6 - 61,500 miles. 2 weeks ago my daughter experience loss of power steering while driving on the interstate. Had car towed to dealer and they "reset" computer / power steering system. My daughter had been driving the vehicle for 2 weeks without another issue until a few days ago. Again, she was driving on the interstate, Advance Track light and "Service Power Steering Now" comes on in car. Steering wheel locks up but she was able to safely pull over and park car. Car gets towed a second time to dealer.
Service shop claims that they've never encountered this problem with Ford vehicles even though there's a huge Ford recall on the Ford Escapes for power steering issues. I was told 2 solutions: replace entire power steering system ($2,200) or have system reset/sensors recalibrated again. Even if I replaced the whole entire power steering system, they couldn't warranty or guarantee that this issue wouldn't happen again and of course, vehicle isn't under warranty nor would power steering fall under it.
Again, I had the dealer recalibrate everything (whatever that means) - checked all sensors including tire pressure monitor sensors. And again, their computer diagnostics show the vehicle as being "good".
I'm going to pick up the vehicle but scared to death having my daughter drive it. I'm going to give my daughter my vehicle for the time being - hopefully Ford will issue a recall for the Fusions. Are they waiting for someone to die in a car accident before addressing this issue? I see a ton of complaints on multiple forums about this exact issue. I also noticed a class action lawsuit in CA for this as well. WAKE UP FORD! Wouldn't you rather prevent an accident/fatality before it happens?
