CarComplaints.com Notes: Ford significantly updated the Fusion for the 2010 model year. We wish they hadn't
Throttle body issues have led to a ton of reports about a sudden deceleration and loss of power while driving. Ford issued a “customer satisfaction program” in March 2014 that, unsurprisingly, has left very few customers satisfied.
2010 is also the year we started seeing complaints about the power steering failing. Throttle and steering failure? Yeah, that’s why this is a clunker.

This is my college age daughter's car. She has gotten the code" Power steering assist fault" twice. The first time was a month ago as she was backing out of the drive. The code lights up and the power steering is gone. She was able to reset it that time by stopping and starting the car.
Last Saturday she got the code again while out of town. Again no power steering as soon as it lit up. She tried to reset it, and even had a mechanic friend who lived in the area try to reset it but it would not clear. She drove home 2.5 hours with no power steering as she was out of town and we ( her parents) were also out of town but not with her.
Since this has happened and we have googled the code "power steering assist fault" we see that many others have had this same problem with their 2010 Fusions. The 2011 and 2012 Fusions were recalled for this problem, but not the 2010, even though they all have the same parts and same issue. I saw that their was a new investigation opened on October 3rd for this issue in the 2010 Fusion. I can only hope that it is also recalled so that I might recoup the $1368.00 I am paying to have this repaired.
