Transmission Failure
2012 Ford Focus (Page 3 of 3)
This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Ford dealer.
CarComplaints.com Notes: You should probably steer clear of the 2012 Focus. Otherwise, you might not be able to steer at all.
The 2012 is the first Focus to offer Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS). It's also the first year with massive power steering failure. These things are not mutually exclusive.
And while you wait for your steering to disappear, you'll be greeted with a transmission that shudders, vibrates or won't shift at all.

While driving it in the downtown at a right turn after car came to a stop and I pushed the accelerator to move forward, the car started shaking badly and then the engine light came on, and zero power was transmitting to wheels. I could hear the engine running fine but seemed like transmission is dead. Tried switching it off and on and did not help at all. I asked a couple of men around to push it and pull it over unblocking the traffic.
It was like a nightmare happened to me in the downtown. It took 3 hours for Ford to get somebody to tow it to the dealer and I lost the whole Saturday afternoon stranded and waiting for them to tow it. They fixed it as I had a extended service plan , they told me they changed the transmission electronic module but I do not think this would be the last problem I'll have with the transmission as I had all the other problems (shuddering, jiggling, etc) with the transmission. It is not safe to drive it anymore.
