This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The seal on windshield came off and there was a noise in the front end of the vehicle. The engine stalled, and the vehicle experienced a fuel system problem.
While idling or engaged, car frequently/periodically shudders as if the engine would die, loss of power during acceleration followed by gradual surge, engine light would flash. Took vehicle to dealer 3 times with complaint over 8-9 mos, symptoms could not be duplicated, codes not recorded, could not find issue on computer diagnostic. 3-17 car stalled repeatedly, engine light on (constant). Codes recorded, diagnosed - cylinder head needs to be replaced. When asked what would cause failure, tech stated carbon build-up.
Vehicle stalls at irregular intervals, including when idle or near idle. Crack in cylinder head caused build-up of carbon. Car is only three years old and has less than 45,000 miles. Have contacted dealer for repairs.
My 2000 Ford Focus has major problems for a car that has only 57,000 miles. The engine will stall and die about every 10 seconds. The gauges and all of the front and rear exterior lights will go dead and the car will jump out of gear. The air compressor for the air conditioner is also shot.
The front and rear brakes, the fuel pump, fuel injector, heater chamber, half shaft bearing, third brake light and speedometer cluster were all replaced.
Twice in the past 3 months, my vehicle stalled and would not start again. After having it towed to the dealership, waiting there overnight, the car started and they couldn't find a problem with it.
