I complained about the brakes at 3000 miles - told no problems the brakes just do that - at 11993 miles brakes inspected 50 - 60 % left - at 15561 brakes inspected 65 - 75 % left - now some how only 4000 miles later only 10% of brakes left and need to be replaced with a total of 19,992 miles - also took car in several times for dying while driving and told no problem - then there was a recall on the clutch cylinder and they said that was probably the problem so they replaced that - still had the problem - they hinted that it was me because they were unable to duplicate the problem - then finally when my radio would go on and off in their presnce they inspected further and discovered my entire dashboard wireing was melted and it is a wonder my car didn't catch on fire. They re-wired the entire car and replaced my radio and had my car for over a week - within a month the radio wasn't working again and they replaced it for the second time - then 3 months later my electric door locks stopped working and needed to be replaced - and by the way my radio has gone out 2 times since the last replacement and they said it was probably just loose or something and not too concerned and now the brakes all this at 19,000 miles.

Ignition cylinder failed and had to be replaced, the dealership had 4 other Focus' with the same problem, my normal mechanic had also seen 4 other Focus' with this problem, I reported it to Ford company's customer service center but they just said they'd look into it. Also, my cruise control does not work, nor do the electrical locks. I don't know if the ignition cylinder could have went out during operation, luckily it didn't for me. My cruise control stopped working after I received a recall notice on the cruise control and took it in for the necessary repairs.
On 3-22-02 at night, parked, I tried to unlock the right rear door at the same time that the passenger attempted to open the door. The plastic door handle made a cracking noise and the door handle apeared to be looser than before without the tight return to original position. The door opened and closed properly. I did not think this was a priority repair so waited until my spring break the next week. On 3-27-02 I had the rear right door opened, I closed it and drove off. Within half a block the door swung opened at a stop light and a passing motorist told me about it before I drove off. I closed the door and proceeded down the hill, within 3 blocks the door swung opened again. I checked the handle and found it popped out into an open position. I forced it back into place, there was a similar cracking noise to that made when the original damage was caused. I drove immediately to the nearest Ford dealership where an appointment was made for 3-29-02. I did not carry anyone in the back seat until the repair was completed. The service order described the repair as, "removed right rear door panel-replaced inner handle-broken & out of position in ratchet assembly-retest-ok. The dealership treated this as a warranty repair. I am concerned that this is not a fluke accident, as the locks automatically engage when the car is put into gear, and unlocking the rear door at night would be a common occurrence. Passangers could be at risk, especially small children.
After 6 months of purchase, the brake system specifically rotors failed. While applying brakes there was a constant grinding noise, resulting in extended stopping distance before vehicle came to a complete stop. At the time to lock or unlock doors will not operate. Sometimes doors will stay locked. Had taken vehicle to dealer, they found that problem was due to a fuse that had to be replaced.
When car is engaged in gear the door locks should lock. The don't. I took the vehicle into Ford and they replaced the fuse the first time, as they were testing it they blew 2 more fuses. They then replaced the 2nd and told me it would be ok. When I got home tonight the back passenger door would not unlock the other 3 doors did. Now none of the door will lock or unlock with the remote or with the button inside the car.
Defective brake rotors. Dealer has yet to be contacted. Consumer also states the windhsiled wipers are inoperative, the striping on the driver side door has always been loose, also radio buttons were stuck, drivers doorlock does not unlock all the time with remote key.
Driver's door lock switch broke. Locks are automatic and lock when vehicle is started. Driver's door would not open after vehicle has stopped. Would exit from passenger side. Other three doors would fail to lock when driver's door automatically locks. Had not taken vehicle to dealership.
Driver's door sensor would indicate that the door would be ajar when its not. This causes interior lights to stay on. Its an intermittent problem. Owner disabled mechanism for interior lights. Took vehicle to dealership, informed by mechanic that problem could not be located.
