Driving down the road hit a bump in the road and the vehicle starting shaking violently wheels acting like they were going fall off and lost all steering control, very scary stopped and every thing stopped and the vehicle starting working properly driving about 55 miles an hour on the highway when this occurred pulling a trailer
On no less than 10 occasions I have experienced what is referred to from Ford Motor Company as " steering wheel oscillation", also know as the "death wobble". I have had this vehicle serviced around 16K miles under warranty where the steering stabilizer or steering damper was replaced. At 38K miles I had the same vehicle inspected by the same Ford dealer for the same issue of death wobble. I was told they drove the vehicle for 25 miles and could not duplicate the issue and returned the vehicle to me without any repairs or recommendations made. The date was 1/28/21 in service and 2/2/21 it was returned to me. Since then I have driven approximately 800 miles with 1 "death wobble" event. These events are happening around 70 mph and has on several events led to me having minimal control of the vehicle until I slow down to around 45 mph which seems to be the point where the wobble stops. The dangers involved were/are the sudden onset of the wobble causing the vehicle to drift out of its' lane and into those lanes surrounding it. Also of danger is the sudden slowing down of the vehicle on an interstate highway causing those behind me to take immediate actions to avoid hitting me in the rearend of the truck or the trailer being towed.
2019 Ford F250 shakes violently six months after purchasing. Hitting bump on highway at highway speed, or even low speeds on street makes it difficulty to steer, and dangerous close calls. Frightening experience. Have called Ford, and after being on hold, or transferred several times, disconnected. No call back returned.
While driving at regulated highway speeds the truck will develop a violent, uncontrollable shaking when any "normal" roadway bump or hole is struck. The truck lunges violently and is difficulty to control. Rapid deceleration is required by removing foot from accelerator & gently applying brakes. The vehicle's speed must be reduced to less than an estimated 20mph and sometimes stopped before the violent shaking stops. Interstate travel is impossible as most roadway imperfections can cause this violent shaking while traveling at 70mph. Ford is aware of this condition and merely replaced a front steering stabilizer which only reduced the frequency of the problem and did not correct the issue. Ford technicians do not know how to fix and only cite that they will once again replace the steering stabilizer. The front steering components are seeing serious premature wear/damage to the violent shaking. This issue will cause fatalities...and most likely has if properly investigated due to loss of control associated with this aptly named "death wobble" this problem has now continually occurred over a period of 3 months on a new F250 which has 18, xxx miles. The problem began with only 13, xxx miles on the vehicle. Ford has not fixed the problem and sends customers back onto roads with a vehicle which is uncontrollable in normal driving conditions... and will result in losing control of the vehicle. This problem began in 2020 & continues to date. The first occurrence was at a speed of 50mph and continues to occur from 55 -70mph
While driving on the highway I experience the 'death wobble' when I drove over a small bump, which caused my vehicle to shake violently and nearly caused an accident.
I am filing a formal complaint regarding my 2019 Ford F250. I experienced what is being called the "death wobble" on a recent trip with my truck. While driving on the highway at approximately 78 mph, I hit a raised section of a culvert crossing which caused my steering to become unstable. The shaking of the steering wheel made the vehicle hard to control and caused us to hit the guard rail and cable barrier. I was in the left lane, and the barrier runs about 3 feet from the roadway. I have damage to the left side of my truck.
On 01-09-21, traveling North on I -75 in Kentucky at approximately 75-80 mph. Traveled over a section of road that was rough and uneven. Vehicle started to shake violently, causing uncontrolled travel into the left high speed lane. Attempted to slow the vehicle to gain control and had to enter the emergency lane and stop the vehicle before the shaking stopped. Had to exit vehicle and check for possible cause and none found. Continued North on I-75 for several miles and again traveled over rough pavement. Vehicle began to shake violently and had to enter the right side emergency lane and slow vehicle to a stop before control was gained.
At any speed over 50 mph the truck starts shaking violently when driven over any small bump or seam in the road. This is commonly known as the "death wobble". I only drive in the city or the highway and do not drive it off road. I only have 12500 miles on this truck
While driving my 2019 Ford F250 on the highway at around 55 mph, hit a small rough patch on road and the steering wheel started shaking violently, almost lost control. Was able to lower speed and pulled over luckily me and my family did not crash. Ford need to be held accountable and fix this problem before someone gets killed! they need to address the problem with there steering components.
At approximately 50 mph went over a highway expansion joint and steering started shaking badly in an uncontrolled manner until slowing to 30 mph. This is the "death wobble" described by so many.
This is a update to add to complaint #11384843 dealer has not fixed, sent home after having my truck for 5 days and looked at 2 or 3 times, my conversations with service at dealer in new emails. I need to add these emails to this complaint.
Two weeks ago, my truck started experiencing the notorious 'death wobble' which causes the entire truck to shake violently at high speeds. I received a recall notice in the mail and immediately called the dealership to schedule the repair. According to the dealership, the necessary part is on national back order for an unspecified period of time. Over the past 2 weeks, I have contacted the dealership on two more occasions to inquire about the part being delivered, and I've received the same response. It's still unknown as to when the part may be available. On 1/7/20, I contacted Ford directly hoping they could provide more specific details regarding the shipment of the part. The representative I spoke to informed me there are no alternatives other than continue checking in with my local dealership. Due to the unknown timeframe and potential danger, I asked the representative if Ford would reimburse me to install an aftermarket steering damper and labor for install. She told me that Ford would decline my request for reimbursement. The truck has 23,000 miles and is extremely dangerous to drive.
The vehicle begins to shake and wobble violently when it hits a bump at highway speeds. The vehicle only has 18,000 miles on it and is unsafe to drive above 50 mph.
I was driving on the highway at 64 -66 mph when it went over an expansion joint in the road. The front end began to shake voilently and the steering wheel was shaking back and forth so hard I could barely gain control of the truck. I finally slowed down to about 20 mph and the shaking and sterring wheel shaking stopped. I was in the center lane and was almost rearended by 70 mile per hour traffic because of hitting the brakes so suddenly to try to maintain control of the truck. I had just bought the truck from the Ford dealership and I turned around and we went directly back and had them put it into the shop to determine what repairs that were needed. The truck is still at the dealership waiting to be inspected by their mechanic and necessary repairs determined.
I had my whole family in the car when I went over an over pass on the highway going about 65 mph and it triggered the death wobble which was a very scary experience. It now has happened about 6 times and I refuse to even have a passenger into the truck. If anyone of my family members would have been driving the truck they would not have been able to keep control of the vehicle with out doubt
Driving 70 mph on interstate I40, on a straight section of road, I crossed a bridge when the steering wheel began to violently rotate side to side shaking the truck (death wobble). The steering wheel bruised my right hand and stretched my elbow ligaments. Luckily the two tractor trailers beside me and the one behind me saw my 4 way lights and backed off. Showing down to 45 mph ended this issue. The front suspension it's responsible for this issue.
I have started experiencing a vibration in the front end of my truck. After research and speaking with my local alignment center he informed me that this is common on the 2019 F250. He said this is part of the death wobble problem in the F250. Following the research and having right at 100K miles it's dishearting that Ford is ignoring a safety problem with this defect. It's happening at highway speeds. 55 to 75mph Ford sent me a recall on the steering stabilizer. But after inspection my mechanic says it's much deeper than that. Tie rods and other components live a shortened life. He also explained that he does this repair often for a local company because Ford will not warranty it.
