While driving on a highway, in a straight line, at 64 mph, I drove over a rough bridge and my steering wheel began to violently shake. I immediately began slowing down but the shaking did not cease until I slowed to nearly 40 mph. 18 wheelers and other traffic were piling up behind me and it was very difficult to keep the truck on the road.

I am experiencing death wobble in my truck. The first time it happened was while driving at approximately 55 mph I hit a bump in the road. The wheels and front end shook violently causing me to run off the road. Luckily I was in an area where there were no ditches or hazards. I took it to a Ford dealership and they said I needed to replace the steering stabilizer or dampener. Of course the new parts are backordered. I was 600 miles from home when this happened. I drove home yesterday going 55 or less the whole way because I was scared to death. I experienced the death wobble again traveling on the interstate going approximately 55 mph. I nearly got rear ended and caused an accident. I will be taking it to a local dealer tomorrow. The truck only has 33,000 miles on it.

Truck has a death wobble... steering wheel shakes to the point of being uncontrollable. Happens when hitting a bump or ruff spot in road, train tracks, bumps on bridges. Can see where losing control would be very easy. God help if you had a loaded trailer hooked to it...

While driving approximately 65mph in the far right lane, West bound on the us 60, about mcclintock dr in mesa AZ, in my 2018 Ford F250, I hit a small pot hole in the pavement, the truck instantly began jerking violently. It rapidly moved the truck toward the left hand lane. It was all I could do to get the truck back in my lane and slowly move to the shoulder. The violent wobble did not stop until about 35mph. I do not know what caused this. I got out to look at the truck, it appeared normal. I got back on the freeway and in about a mile, hit a expansion joint in the road and caused the truck to do it again. I called san tan Ford to get the truck in to service, I dropped it off the same day. This is an extreme and violent wobble with no warning signs and very little ability to control the truck. Definitely a safety concern. I have since researched and found similar concerns with the 2017 -2019 F250 calling it a death wobble. Sounds right. The truck has under 13000 miles on it. I noticed at the dealer, while walking with the service tech, the tires seem to have strange wear pattern on the outside tread. It is a fully stock vehicle with no additions or alterations. All routine maintenence work has been done at the san tan Ford, the same dealer as purchase. The dealer told me there was a bulletin out on the problem.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle became difficult to maneuver due to a condition known as the death wobble. The contact was able to safely guide the vehicle off of the roadway. A visible inspection of the vehicle showed no visible evidence of a defect in the steering or suspension of the vehicle. The vehicle was slowly driven to the residence. Wayne akers Ford located at 2000 10th ave N, lake worth, fl 33461, (800) 749-8875, was contacted by phone. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not subjected to a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed by the manufacturer that a technical service bulletin was available to remedy the issue with the vehicle. The failure mileage was 42,426.

Uncontrolled severe vibration and violent shaking of entire vehicle. Seems to be initiated by uneven spots in pavement at speeds above 40-50 mph or so. Otherwise known as the "Super Duty wobble", a well known and documented issue since the introduction of the Super Duty line of Ford pickup trucks in approximately 1998 or 1999. I have previously owned 1999 and 2006 F-350 Super Duty pickup trucks which experienced the same problems. I have the repair receipts and NHTSA safety notices for both vehicles. I find it astonishing and extremely disappointing that in over 20 years Ford has not been able to successfully diagnosis and rectify this problem. I am currently awaiting a service appointment (pending parts arrival) to correct this. I obviously hope Ford will fix this, but am quite skeptical. My current vehicle (2018 F250) had only 25,000 miles on it when this problem started occuring. I would appreciate your response on this. I find it unacceptable that Ford has continued to sweep this under the rug, and am surprised that there has not been some type of recall on this considering it has been a known issue for over 20 years. The violent shaking and vibration is so bad that it could lead to loss of control of the vehicle with catastrophic results possible. Thank-you for your consideration of this.

At speeds of 65mph and above, when hitting bumps in the road the vehicle begins to shake uncontrollably until you slow down to around 25mph or even stop completely. When this is happening, the steering wheel shakes so much that it is hard to hold on and bring the vehicle to a stop. It is very dangerous when traveling on an interstate and this begins to happen, as you are required to reduce your speed significantly which could absolutely cause a wreck as your trying to make it over to the shoulder safely. This has happened multiple times and is a complete surprise as to when it is going to happen. I now know what it is like to have the death wobble in the front end as I truly fear for my life when it happens. I have not been able to get video of the death wobble occurring, as I haven't had a second person with me when it has happened. Even when traveling at lower speeds (35mph-55mph) and going across bumps in the road, I still experience a wobble in the steering wheel however it does not go into the death wobble scenario where the whole truck begins to shake. I am however fearful that someday it will begin to start the death wobble at these lower speeds.

This submission is the second notice of "death wobble' on my 2018 Ford F-250 truck. The truck had less then 14,000 miles on it. It occurred on November 9, 2019. I was merging into traffic on an interstate highway at about 65-70 mph and crossed a bridge joint which caused the front wheels and steering wheel to shake violently. I slowed the vehicle and was almost rear-ended by a 18 wheel semi-truck that couldn't maneuver as it was being passed by a second truck on one side and another merging car on the other. I knew what the had caused the issue as this was the second occurrence in one year. I contacted the Ford dealership on November 11th, 2019. They indicated they are aware of the dampener problem. I had them inspect the truck on November 16th at which time they ordered the parts to repair it. The same wobble occurred on November 15th while my wife was driving on a ramp from one expressway to another moving at approximately 55 mph. I returned to the dealership on 11/29/19 and they still didn't have the part. Two weeks later they notified me that they had the part. It was repaired on 12/16/19. They replaced the steering damper assembly, part no. Spo hc3Z 3E651 F. they indicated the dampener is part of tsb 19-2274 and due to large number of vehicles with the same issue, the part is hard to obtain. My wife is now leery about driving the vehicle.

My 2018 Ford F-250 has the "death wobble". I purchased the truck in February 2018 and by December 2018 had driven less than 8,000 miles. While driving at 70 to 75 mph on an interstate highway, I crossed an expansion joint on a bridge and the front-end started bouncing uncontrollably and the steering wheel shaking violently. The shaking stopped after slowing to under 45 mph. I pulled to the side of the road and checked to see if a I had flat tire or other issue causing the problem. I called the Ford dealership, from which I purchased it, for resolution of the problem. They indicated it that they believe the problem was the steering dampener. I brought it to the dealership for repair on 12/30/18 and they kept it for a week. They indicated the "damper" would be replaced under tsb 18-2268. They kept the truck until 1/7/19 until parts arrived. The repair invoice (attached) indicated they'd replaced a failed steering linkage damper, part no. Spo hc3Z 3E651 F - damper assembly. This was not caused by lack of maintenance or improper use of the equipment. It was very frightening. The uncontrollable vibration and the need to suddenly slow on an expressway was extremely dangerous. Several trucks and cars had to take evasive action to miss me while I pulled over.

Driving straight on highway 95 in Arizona, at 70 with cruise control set. Clear day, no adverse weather or road conditions. Tires equally pressurized at factory settings of 59 front and 55 rear and a completely stock suspension and tire package. Out of nowhere, steering wheel begins to shake violently and the truck is swerving from one lane to the other. I had to slow to nearly 30 to regain control of the vehicle. This would have caused a head on collision under the right circumstances. 2018 F-250 with less than 30K miles.

3 times today while driving my Ford F-250 Super Duty diesel on the interstate while cruising at about 70-75 mph....the front end cut loose and I lost all control of the vehicle! this scared the living crap out of me. Lucky that it didn't cause an accident and possible hurt someone. This is the 5th time overall that this has happened. The last 3 of which have been reported to Ford. The people at Ford customer care act ignorant and pretend like they have never heard of this issue before. I did take the truck into the shop. First they told me the fix was one thing. Than they called back and said there was a different problem and the part was back ordered for about 4 weeks. I went back to get the truck and asked the question 'is this thing safe to drive"' the dealership and Ford customer care all told me that they wouldn't have released the truck if they felt that it was unsafe to drive. I have done research on this issue and it appears the street name for this issue is called the 'death wobble.' It seems that this is something that Ford is aware of yet they have not warned the customer or made a recall regarding this issue. Instead they play the fool and act like they do not want to resolve the issue at hand. My truck is a 2018 with 13,000 miles on it and I do not feel safe driving the truck. It is currently a $55,000 driveway ornament. Paying $850 a month for the payment and do not in any way feel comfortable driving this rig. I do not know if I will ever be able to trust driving this rig again without having in the back of my mind if I will lose control of the vehicle and hurt myself or some other unsuspecting person driving down the highway. How can Ford get away with knowing about this issue and not take care of it" I guess it is going to take someone getting killed!!

During driving at a speed of 73 on the highway I went over a bridge and when the truck went over the joint in the road it sent the truck into a death wobble which cause the truck to veer into the other lane. I was pressing the brakes as hard as I could and it felt like they were not hardly working. It took approximately 1/8 of a mile to slow down below 50 where it regained control. Steering was very difficult and could not keep it in my lane. Truck was bouncing uncontrollably and almost took it off the road.

Vehicle was being driven down the highway at approximately 70 mph when the front wheels and steering wheel started shaking violently. Brakes were applied and vehicle was pulled over to the shoulder. In the course of the event, all electrical power was lost. Vehicle was not able to be started until after a few minutes. Vehicle was taken to local Ford dealership where they found a defective steering stabilizer. Parts are not available through Ford for replacement and lead time is unknown at time of this posting.

I was accelerating on an on-ramp and at about 60mph on slightly rough pavement the truck front suspension and steering started oscillating and became very violent. I was merging in traffic but was forced to slow down quickly to keep the truck under control. The oscillations calmed at around 40mph. Fortunately the other vehicles managed to avoid me. Could have been an accident. On the way home after merging onto I81, I went over a bump on a bridge and the oscillations started again. Traffic was light so I could slow down quickly. At about 45mph the oscillations stopped. I drove home slowly and parked the truck as it is not safe to drive at normal speeds. The vehicle only has 26K miles, has regular dealership service, properly inflated tires and this just came out of nowhere.

A residual vibration after hitting a bump started in Feb 2019 at 8.6K miles. Dealership replaced damper assembly. All good for a while then vibration with hitting a bump started again in Oct 2019 at 25K miles. On 11/2/19 at 26K miles at 70 mph experienced severe/violent shaking in the steering wheel and had to slam on brakes to stop it and bring truck under control. The Ford dealership replaced the damper assembly again and the stabilizer bar. Still had the residual vibration after a bump, took back in to dealership on 12/4/19 and they could not 'duplicate customer concern'. on 12/11/19 and 12/16/19 at highway speeds on I-87 between albany and glens falls, NY, I again experienced severe and violet vibration/shaking in the steering wheel. I had a difficult time keeping the truck in the lane I was traveling in and again had to immediately brake hard in heavy traffic to bring the truck back under control. Brought to a different dealership and now being told that despite 1/2 the tread life remaining on the tires that Ford is recommending replacing the tires and that an alignment is needed. This dealership is refusing to do alignment unless we replace all 4 tires. At this time the truck has 27K miles on it. I cannot understand how Ford can continue to deny this is a major safety issue with their trucks with all of evidence supporting otherwise.

I was driving on the freeway pulling my 23 foot enclosed snowmobile trailer with two snowmobiles inside. I hit a bump in the road and my steering wheel started to shake very violently. I was traveling 70 mph when this happened. My truck continued to shake violently causing me to swerve on the freeway until I slowed down to 50 mph. This was not the first time it has happened. I have experienced this violent shaking when pulling a trailer or not pulling a trailer down the freeway. My truck has under 47,000 miles on it.

When hitting bumps at interstate speeds of 65-75 mph, the truck steering/tires/suspension goes into an uncontrollable wobble, "death wobble" having to slow down to roughly 25-30mph to get the truck to come out of the wobble. This problem creates an extremely dangerous situation!!!!! this has happened multiple times and I do not feel safe driving this vehicle.

On 7 occasions my 2018 F250 has had severe death wobble. As low as 40mph up to 75 mph it has only 32000 miles when this first occurred it has been to the Ford dealer 4X for this issue and they have done their so called repairs and it still does

This was the 4th time this has happened and im getting worried about this issue lets get this issue fixed please. While driving pulling a 18' trailer the truck started to shake like crazy after going over a rough patch in the road we was traveling at 73-75 mph had to slow down to about 30 to recover and smooth out. Just glad there was no other cars or truck on the road or else this may have been very very bad case.
