Campaign/NHTSA# 23S30/23V418 Issue Date 2023-06-09 Description On your vehicle, it may be possible that your reversing lamps may not function due to microscopic cracks that can develop in the vehicles rear lightbar. If a microscopic crack is present, condensation can potentially enter the reversing lamp lens through these cracks and cause electrical failure to the reverse lamps. Safety Risk This may result in inoperative reverse lamps which can reduce the awareness of other motorists or road users of the drivers intention to operate the vehicle in reverse gear, increasing the risk of injury or crash. Remedy Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace the rear lightbar free of charge parts and labor. Campaign/NHTSA# 23C38/23V801 Issue Date 2023-11-28 Description Affected vehicles may have software logic that does not reset the electronic stability control esc system to default operation at the initiation of each ignition cycle. Section 5.4.1 of fmvss no. 126 requires that the vehicles esc system return to the manufacturers original default esc mode at the initiation of each ignition cycle Safety Risk The vehicle operator may not notice that the vehicle operates differently after receiving the ota update 6.3.0 and now remains in off-road mode with a reduced esc state after cycling the ignition. If the vehicle operator does not notice the esc off telltale in the cluster, they may not know the vehicle is in a reduced esc state. For these vehicles, failing to revert back to a normal esc-on state after being in off-road mode makes the vehicles noncompliant to fmvss no. 126, increasing the risk of crash. Remedy The remedy for this program is a software update to accessory protocol interface module apim. Ford began Ford power-up over-the-air deployments to update the apim software for affected vehicles in November 2023. Alternatively, owners will have the option to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to complete the software update. Campaign# 23B1
The climate control system will malfunction and make the cab of the truck unbearably hot, even to the point of physical discomfort at the feet of the driver. The air is so hot blowing on the drivers feet that I have to remove my feet from the pedals to cool. This is a major distraction to the driver. The dealer says this is normal. No warnings or alarm messages.
Vehicle will not start. Get "Stop safely now" message. It is 16 degrees outside. What if this had happened while I was out. This would be a life threatening problem. This appears to be a known issue, but Ford has not fixed it. There are hundreds of reports on various forums of the same problem.
During a long road trip my truck displayed a message stating that I had a Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced Power. My truck, while driving, reduced itself to half power. It also would not charge. I was 3 states away from home when this happened. I took the vehicle to my Ford dealership once I was able to get it home. The technician simply cleared a code and said that the issue could not be replicated. Clearly there is an issue. I know several people with the same issue. Frankly, I don't think that I can trust my new truck a significant distance from my residence.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after initially starting the vehicle and driving downhill out of the driveway at approximately 5-10 MPH, the vehicle lost power. The failure was self-corrected immediately after the failure. While driving approximately 30-35 MPH, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and it was confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The approximate failure mileage was 28,000.
Vehicle started making EXTREMELY loud popping noises from all speakers. This occurred at start up and repeated several times. I turned off the vehicle and did not drive but I-??ve now researched and found others with the same truck system-??s experiencing the same and some crashes have occurred. There does not seem to be any Ford representative acknowledging the problem so I wanted to report it.
This has happened to me 3 times now. When I start the truck, a loud pop can be heard and then an extremely loud static noise starts throughout the entire truck. All speakers produce loud static and popping sounds. I took this to the dealer and while happening and the dealer had -??no idea-?? what to do. The only remedy I-??ve been given is to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and reconnect. This makes the awful sound stop. This happened while drive and almost caused me to crash twice. There is talks of this on forums happening to other truck owners with the BO Unleashed sound system. Ford, NHTSA please create a TSB and figure this issue out. It affects my hearing every time the static and popping starts. Forums have said the Digital Sound Processor is a part of the problem when streaming with Apple car play or android auto. I spent $70K on this truck and am tired of this happening. please please get this issue fixed or else it will cause a serious crash. This has occurred three times from years April 2022-December 2023!!!!
Again today 12/3/23 the sync 4 screen upon startup froze in a gray screen for minutes then restated rendering the Federally Mandated Tear Camera 100% inoperable. Nothing worked for minutes a safety hazard not being able to see and move
I was driving this morning and out of nowhere, my radio starting making the loudest noise I've ever heard (x3). Louder then a darn gun shot. I almost had an accident because I thought the truck was exploding. Had to slam on the breaks and jump out. Dealership was no real help, so had to walk all the way home to get noise canceling headphones so I could reenter the vehicle. Re-entered to a burning smell. Called Ford and was told to try and remove and reinstall the battery. I did this and it fixed it, but now driving with noise canceling headphones and can't have anybody in the car out of fear for hearing loss. Sitting here at my desk with ringer ears and bad headache.
This horrifyingly loud rhythmic noise came out of my speakers yesterday. I have a F-150 Platinum with B&O Stereo system. My ears felt like they were bleeding and I actually experienced pain due to how loud the noise was. It happened when my truck was parked and I went to start it and the deafening noise hit. No matter what I did, turned the volume down, radio power off, turned the truck ignition off - it still made the noise. I also smelled a very strong burning smell that smelled like burning wires or transmission fluid. I have a video of it. I walked away to call Ford service and came back in about 5 minutes and the noise had stopped. When I opened the drive door, the noise started up again. I left and came back again and noise had stopped and didn't start up again. Had it towed to the dealer who said they had never heard of this before. They have it now and I sent them a link to the Ford F-150 forum and articles that are online talking about it from back in August. Extremely frustrating!!!
Loud pop from sound system is back again, and did it so loud scared the crap out of a passenger, this is beyond dangerous, the software update didn-??t work, Ford denies any issues at all exist on anything.
I had warranty work done on a trailer brake module on October 23, 2023. About 3 weeks after that it seemed like my transmission was a little rough. Then Nov. 6, I had several incidences where I was at a stop, and it felt like someone hit me from behind and lurch my truck forward a little bit. It seems very dangerous. In case someone in a crosswalk is walking in front of me I could possibly hit them up. My Ford diagnostic tells me that it is the electric transmission fluid pump. There was no warning no lights lit up on my dashboard warning me that this would happened. After I started the motor the next morning, the check engine light came on. The next day I drove it for a short time around the block and the check engine light was not on. I drove it straight to the dealership and made an appointment to take it in. I have read several articles and forums complaining about the exact same thing recently. It seems as if there should be a recall on this issue. Another issue since I-??ve had the truck brand new in July 2023 is it always skipped second gear which kind of makes it a little rough starting off.
B&O sound system loud scary pops and static, Sync 4 screen goes blank while driving, also blank sometimes for minutes at startup, I have had it come on, watch the 360 camera begin to backup and look in the mirror the camera lags not showing the car behind me. Constant messages of steering failure, catalytic converter failure drivetrain failure dealer says nothing wrong.

The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the parking brake would independently activate as the brake warning light and "Parking Brake Engaged, " and "Collision Alert" warning messages would appear on the instrument panel. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer on multiple occasions where they vehicle was serviced under warranty; however, the failure would return soon after repair. In addition, the contact stated that random warning messages such as the "Front Camera Fault" and "Trailer Detached" would intermittently appear on the instrument panel without incident. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

The contact also stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed at night, the high beam headlights were inoperable, even though the indicator light was illuminated. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality; however, the failure had become a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. While driving on the interstate my 2022 F150 Lightning platinum lost all power to the front motor. The "comfort" mode display showed no warnings, messages, or signals to indicate that power was severely limited. I realized the issue as the vehicle was losing speed as I was going up a grade where the vehicle would hardly maintain 75mph with my foot to the floor. I have pictures from the incident which I have uploaded. (The screenshots are from the typical display, and with the specific vehicle power menu enabled. I did not capture a picture of the "Comfort" display during the incident. I have uploaded an image of the comfort display I had previously taken.)
