A noise being heard any the rear-end of the truck. Upon taking the rear tire off for investigation a bolt head was noticed in the center of the rim. This bolt came from the axle. The bolt in question holds the axle in place, if driven for a great distance then a chance of the axle floating towards the gear which could have caused a major safety concern for the occupants of the truck and anyone on the road Truck is currently at the shop, but dealer is replacing parts with same components. No root cause has been found to address concern. Other side of axle could reflect the same condition

I brought my truck in for routine maintenance oil change & tire rotation and was notified by the dealership that the right rear axle bolt was broken off and that the axle needed to be replaced and that it wasn-??t safe to drive it until it was replaced well here-??s my problem I didn-??t know it was broken or unsafe to drive and had I not brought it in for the oil change early I would still be driving it like that this is a serious problem which could result in a loss of control and accident I-??m not the only one that has had this happen I-??ve researched it a little and found multiple people on an F150 forum that have had the same experience

There is a fairly common issue where there are bolts at the end of the rear axles (P/N 19S426) have the bolt head shearing off and rattling around inside the wheel. I had one such broken bolt. The issue is large enough that hundreds of owners are reporting this on Ford Truck forums, namely on the 2021 Ford F-150 Powerboost with the Max Tow Package like mine. Ford needs to recall this.

Passenger rear axle bolt broken. This seems to be happening only on Max tow equipped vehicles, LOTS of them.

The bolts that holds the wheel assemblies to the axle have both broke off. Right side in February and the left side in September. It allows the wheel and brake rotor assembly to move in and out on the axle shaft. The only thing holding the wheel on the truck is the brake rotor assembly. It was found during a tire rotation.

No part failure confirmed by Ford. Transmission has very hard downshift at highway speeds from 10th gear to 8th gear under moderate throttle causing the rear wheels to chirp. Had this happened during cold months it could have caused me to spin out. Ford states transmission is normal yet previous TSBs show consistent issues with the 10r80 transmission from My 2018 and up in regards to harsh, delayed shifts. No warning lamp other than traction/stability control flashed. I have had the dealer look but was told it is normal as with other drivers. I can't understand how chirping the tires on a down shift under moderate throttle can be considered normal.

Rear differential, passenger side axle bolt broke off. I removed the right rear wheel after hearing a metallic noise while braking to inspect, as soon as I removed the wheel a broken head bolt and washer fell out and you can clearly see the other piece of the bolt is still in the axle shaft. I am not sure if this bolt breaking off could cause loss of wheel or axle. But now my brakes are making noise, I believe as a symptom directly related to this issue. I looked up 2021+ F150 forums and customers with this max trailer tow axles are experiencing the same thing. I took the vehicle to the dealer today to get this inspected and am awaiting an update. The only indicators of a problem was loud metallic noise while braking, and a slight ringing sound while driving without braking. It was all sounding in the rear of the vehicle.

When in regular use of this hybrid Powerboost F150, the truck lurches forward on electric motor power as if you just got rear-ended. This happens every single time you have to come to a stop for more than 5 seconds. The only way to avoid this issue is to drive in"tow/haul" mode which keeps the truck's engine running. This defeats the purpose of a hybrid truck, and you have to remember to switch the running mode from normal to the haul/tow mode. This lurching had to be causing extra wear and tear on the drive train parts. Apparently the problem is a faulty "Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Pump". Many of us on the Ford F150 forums are waiting on our dealers for this back ordered pump. Apparently Ford continues to build vehicles while falling to provide a replacement pump" I am concerned as to the design of this pump as well. My"new" truck only has 7800 miles on it, a little over one year old, and the pump is defective. Is this going to be a reocurring problem" This is a safety issue and should be addressed ASAP. Thank you for your attention to this matter..

My 2021 Ford powerboost Lariat lurches forward when at a stop in normal drive mode, it feels like someone rear ended the truck. This is a safety hazard if I don-??t have my foot pressed hard on the brakes I could be launched into on coming traffic or hit someone crossing the street.

I took truck in for an oil change and the service sept advised me that during the tire rotation they discovered the Axle bolt sheered off of driver side rear axle from normal use of truck. Dealer said ford advised them that the truck must sit till the axle is replaced due to it being a safety hazard to drive. My truck is now sitting at dealer waiting for a replacement axle.

Heard a metal grinding coming from the rear axle on. Took it to Ford dealer maic Haik in Georgetown Texas. The found the axle bolt had sheared off. It is in the shop currently waiting a warranty repair and the shop indicated this was not the first one they had seen.

13800 miles, broken axle/wheel bearing retaining bolt. Screeching noise. Bad wheel bearing. Dealer will not replace wheel bearing because they do not correlate the broken bolt to a bad wheel bearing. Leaving me with a bad wheel bearing that I consider prematurely worn out and is making a clicking sound. Dealer says they cannot replicate the noise so will not investigate further

Myself and several other individuals with 2021/2022 Powerboost F-150s are experiencing an issue where the whole vehicle will lurch forward as if hit from behind after coming to a stop. This can result in the truck hitting the vehicle in front of you if you are in tight traffic.

In May 2022, the passenger side right rear axle bolt sheared off creating a squealing/grinding noise from that wheel. The only thing holding the wheel onto the axle were the brake caliper bolts. The repair involved a new axle. In early Sept 2022, the driver side rear axle bolt sheared off with the same results. The vehicle is now in the shop waiting for the parts to arrive. Dealer advised that this is a serious safety issue and requested that the vehicle be towed to the service center.

Driving the truck the transmission shifts down hard depends on the day it-??s hard trying too get used to braking when it downshifts like it does. Then when leaving and up shifting sometimes it wants to jerk the truck and hesitates. My father owns a 2019 and his transmission is amazing. Mine is horrible. Since I bought the truck it-??s been like this and I just don-??t want to be stuck with a broke transmission when my warranty expires one day for it. The speed it jerks when it-??s low speed like taking off, the down shifting is going from like 50 down. This happens all the time. I just see people with my year truck getting new transmission because their transmission already is no good.

Upon getting into the vehicle, it was noticed that there was gear oil leaking all over the rear passenger wheel prompting me to remove the wheel cap. Inside, the axle nut that connects to the axle shaft was completely sheared off and not connected. I am not sure how long it was like this, but from my experience without this nut the axle could have slid into the differential causing a rear axle failure, if that were at highway speeds, or in descent while pulling a trailer that could have been very serious. The broken parts are with the vehicle at the servicing dealership Currently the vehicle is at the dealer being repaired. Due to part shortages and as noted by the dealer being unsafe to drive I will be without a vehicle for 3-4 weeks possibly. The problem has been reproduced by multiple other truck owners noted online in group forums etc., and the dealership was well aware of the issue noting there were 3 other similar trucks in for the same repair needed. There has been no inspection by they manufacturer, only by the dealership where purchased and servicing the vehicle. No noticeable issues right before the problem occurred. Approximately 4000 miles prior to the issue it was noted that the same wheel seemed to be locking and stuttering while turning. Almost as if the brakes/axle were locking right when taking the vehicle in for routine service. It was noted to the dealership, but being that only light service mechanics were on duty they could not do a full inspection. They did inspect brakes for locking etc. found no issues and the locking / stuttering was no longer noticeable.

Right real axle bolt is sheared. This appears to be a big issue with 2021 Ford F150's with the max tow option with the 3.5 ecoboost. Parts back ordered for over a month. Dealer will not release the truck due to safety issues and unsafe to drive.

The driver side rear axle retaining bolt sheared off rendering the truck not drivable. The truck is at the Ford dealership I purchased it from waiting for a replacement part. This is such a common problem that the axle shaft is on back order, so I am without my truck until the parts are available. Upon researching online I have found this to be a common problem that Ford is very much aware of but have not taken action to correct.
