I heard a scratchy rattling sound around 35-36k miles at very low speeds. Eventually narrowed it down to the passenger rear wheel area. I took off the wheel to inspect the area and the head of the axle bolt fell out. It looked to have been yielded from over torquing or something. But I was shocked! I have no idea the actual period of failure. If I hadn-??t rolled my windows down for the nice weather, I probably wouldn-??t have heard it. I checked and there has been no recall or anything sent to me that this is a problem. I tow a camper with the family and if the axle failed while doing so, it could of killed us. Very unhappy that Ford has not recalled this. There are many others on a Facebook group that have had the same issue. It needs to be Remedied.

VEH: 2021 F150 FX4 SUPERCREW, 3.5L, MAX TRAILER TOW PKG COMPONENT FAILURE: Rear Passenger Axle Retainer Bolt (on Rear Axle Half-Shaft and Hub Assembly) On 11/03/2023, while having oil change at Simmons Rockwell Ford I was advised that they had located a snapped Axle Retaining bolt on rear passenger axle. I was advised that the axle to hub splines were also found to be damaged & loose. I was informed by service manager that he DID NOT RECOMMEND DRIVING VEHICLE DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. There is currently a Ford Customer Satisfaction Program #[XXX] in effect for some 2021-2022 F150 equipped with 9.75"HD Axle- 3/4 Float Axle. This Program replaces defective associated parts at no cost to owner w/no mileage limit. Production dates for F150's manufactured at the Dearborn plant included in this program are limited to May 1, 2021 thru September 30, 2021. My F150 was manufactured in 12/2020 and is not included in this program. My 2021 F150 manufactured in December 2020 has the exact same faulty axle & components as the F150's covered by this program. A check of internet shows multitudes of this same problem w/axle bolts breaking including vehicles outside of the cutoff dates of 22B34 set by Ford for this defect/safety issue. It's apparent F150's with the 9.75" HD axles (included with the Max Trailer Tow Package option) manufactured prior to May1, 2021 are also defective. I was advised by Simmons Rockwell Ford that my truck was the second f150 in two consecutive days to have the exact same problem w axle bolt breaking. Both of these F150 were manufactured outside of the dates included in CSP [XXX]. I was informed by Simmons Rockwell Ford that there are no current recalls for this safety issue. They further stated my F150 is out of warranty & this safety issue defect is not covered by warranty or the current Current Satisfaction Program [XXX]. This is a safety issue & warrants a recall for all models w/this axle including those manufactured before 05/01/2021. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INF

My truck has the Maximun payload axle upgrade. The axle bolts on the end of the shaft have broken. I first notice squealing sound of metal from rear of truck. I searched on line for the symptom and found the problem. I then removed passenger rear wheel to verify broken bolt. I took my truck for service to Morries Grand Ledge Ford in Michigan. They verified the problem, told me it was not safe to drive and have ordered parts. They also informed me that the defective axle is not covered by recall on my vehicle. The service representative did confirm that there are recalls for the same axle but not my vehicle.

Transmission is not working correctly. When truck comes to stop, after 3 second there is a strong jolt that feels like the vehicle is being rear-ended. Error code indicates Auxiliary Transmission Oil Pump. Other owners have had same problem and it was Auxiliary Transmission Oil Pump. Dangerous condition because could cause issue at intersections or hitting pedestrian or other vehicle. Part is apparently backordered so cannot even be fixed.

County sheriff said it had to be moved now completely off the hiway or county would send a tow truck and put in impound lot since tires over the white line. THis is a 2 lane Hwy with no shoulders, part on private property part on hwy 185. We put in neutral towed it 1 1/2 blocks to friends property. Took 3 weeks for Ford to look at it and will not fix the REAR end which they say is damaged beyond repair and want Dealership will not warranty it truck has 55,000 miles. Truck just came to Sudden stop, and would not move 3 of us tried to push it off the road. if any cars was was behind me there would have been a crash them hitting me, it acted like the parking brake was slammed on with the auto parking brake system dealer says wires not chafed but refuses to claim warranty with ford.

- The component that has failed is the right rear axle and retaining bolt (the axle retaining bolt sheared off). The vehicle is currently at the dealership (The Ford Store San Leandro, in San Leandro, CA) waiting for replacement parts. Unknown if the vehicle is available for inspection. -To my knowledge my safety was not at risk, but the vehicle is being retained by the dealership because it is deemed a safety concern. -The broken axle bolt was found by the dealership when they were investigating a noise complaint. -The only symptom that was present was noise.

The driver's side rear axle bolt sheared off over the course of normal driving. Ford is aware of this problem, advises to not use/drive the vehicle, yet no recall has been issued. Without a recall, getting this issue fixed will take weeks/months and Ford should pay for a rental vehicle since this is clearly a manufacturing defect.

HD rear axle bolt at end of axle shaft breaks. This WOULD be addressed by Ford customer satisfaction program 22B34, except the program only covers 2021 vehicles manufactured AFTER 01 May 2021. My vehicle was manufactured in November 2020. This program needs to be expanded to include ALL vehicles with the 9.75" 4/4-Float HD axle from the beginning of the model year build.

The exact circumstances highlighted in Customer Satisfaction Program 22B34, which outlines the recall necessary for replacement of axle bolts and axles after the axle bolt shears off while driving. The recall is for trucks from the Kansas City manufacturing plant and the recall only covers trucks made until 30 September 2021. My truck was manufactured in October 2021. This recall was in place for Certain 2021-2022 Model Year F-150 Vehicles Equipped with 9.75-?? HD Axle -?" ? Float Axle Rear Axle Half-Shaft and Hub Assembly Replacements The axle bolt sheared off my truck's drivers side rear axle. Ford is replacing it under the drivetrain warranty. They are unwilling to replace the other side because I am not included in the current recall (outside of the parameters by only few days). The recall specifically identifies that both sides should be replaced if one side breaks. The pictures outlined in Customer Satisfaction Program 22B34 look identical to the defect that my vehicle has experienced.
